  1. I'm glad to hear you made it home safely Robert. It was a pleasure getting to play a round with you over the weekend and a double pleasure getting to meet Jeri.
  2. Good morning everyone! It's a back to reality day after a long weekend where I got to meet several of you. I had a blast and I enjoyed the chamarade most of all. I didn't get a ton of sleep over the course of the weekend and I was fine and full of energy, I'm having to come to work and I just want to pass out. @Northern Monkeygood luck with you comp! I hope you all have a great day!
  3. The chipping advice worked out good for the round at the Woods Course when I did it half right, I'm definitely going to have to spend some time getting used to the different wrist action. Also, thank you to @Tom the Golf Nutfor the regripping lesson, to @TJ Hallfor the sand advice, and @Berg Ryman for allowing me to be part of the #back9charge and the fairway woods advice. Thanks to @EasyPutterfor the coffee, that stuff kept me lively and was delicious.
  4. I'm still not fully awake after staying up way after my bedtime every night and four consecutive days of golf, but I wanted to do a bit of a recap of the trip. Royal New Kent This one was my favorite course of the trip simply because I love it's beautiful layout and how brutally tough it was, even playing way up. With it's rolling hills and unforgiving rough I thought it was a hard, yet fair course. I knew I was in for a tough day when I officially sent the first tee shot of the trip into the rough and never found my ball. I had tough sand shots and a couple of lies where I felt like a Billy goat might have a hard time climbing, much less swinging a golf club. The only negatives I saw were the growths on the green and having a divot tool/ball marker combo that the magnet was so weak that I lost the marker. I would definitely play here again just to see if I could break 120 on it. The River Course I can see why this course has hosted both PGA and LPGA events. It's both picturesque and challenging, plus the closing 3 holes are spectacular. The view going into the 16th hole is something else with the backdrop of the James River in the background. I loved that green complex! I do wish they could have designed the course with more views like that, but having the river displayed prominently on 16 and 17 made it worth the wait. The Plantation Course I'm going to have to agree with the consensus that this was the least favorite of the 3 courses. I'm not saying it was bad as it's still miles ahead of the better courses I play in my area, it just didn't have that wow factor. If I had to vote on which one had the least replayability factor of all the resort courses, this would be it. The Woods Course This one was easily my favorite course among the resort courses. It boasted both wonderful views and the times the cart path meandered through the woods was awesome. I think the only negative thing I could say about the course was the fact that they had the snack bar closed. Who does that in a Sunday? I would love to play this one again. I want to say thank you to my fellow forum members for making this an experience I'll never forget. It was a pleasure meeting all of you and I told my wife the experience was like meeting old friends. You were all warm and welcoming.
  5. After seven hours of driving and almost 400 miles, I've arrived back the house. I took it kind of easy and stopped twice at rest areas to stretch my legs and take in some scenery in North Carolina. I'll post up some more later on, but I want to thank the forum staff for putting this together and say thank you to my roomies @Tom the Golf Nut, @cnosil, and @EasyPutter for being such great guys.
  6. Good morning everyone! About to head toward the house from NC. Big shout-out to @Tom the Golf Nut and his lovely wife for the kindness they showed me in allowing me into their homes to crash a couple of nights. To anyone thinking about going on one of the outings, I will tell you it's everything you can imagine and more. Everyone was awesome and it was like going to meet family. Y'all have a good one!
  7. You were my inspiration, brother. #back9run I really enjoyed the round together both from a good standpoint and the fellowship.
  8. You ain't kidding, I'm probably going to be hurting for days and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I hope you have a safe flight, Chuck and it was a pleasure getting to meet you.
  9. Good morning everyone! It's the last day of the Kingsmill trip and we'll be playing the Woods Course. It's been a fun trip with a bunch of phenomenal people. I hope you all have a wonderful day!
  10. Congratulations on one year on the forum! It's been a pleasure to get to know you and I've really enjoyed your contributions.
  11. I thank you for out to Chuck, @cksurfdude who gifted me with a prize for being on the phone checking in with the wife most often. It's freaking awesome!
  12. It was the Plantation Course today and it was a beautiful day with temps in the 70's. I'm regretting a little bit not putting sunblock on my legs as they got a little red. I played today with @Golfspy_CG2, @Berg Ryman, and @TJ Hall. It was something seeing Ryan and T.J. hitting off the tee and a joy to watch Rob hitting the G430 Max 10K with the Autoflex just hitting straight shot after straight shot. While I wouldn't consider the Plantation to be quite as picturesque as the River, it had it's own beauty. 20240601_151959.mp4 I played it pretty well, for me shooting 109 with 33 putts. We had a putting competition going on and I was feeling good about it after only 13 on the front. I then went with three straight 3 putts. Had a chance for bird on the 18th, but missed a six footer and had to settle for par. I want to say thanks to @TJ Hall for a bunker lesson and @cnosil for a short game tutorial.
  13. Good morning everyone! It's day 3 of the golf trip and we're up for an earlier tee time this morning. Some of the guys are going to play 36 today and if looks like a beautiful day to do so. I'm just playing 18 since my ball striking has led me up some hills only billy goats dare and my legs think I have been working out. Had a wonderful round with Kenny and Martha yesterday, they were great fun and just wonderful people. We enjoyed some great food last night and had fun sitting around the table talking. I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!
  14. We are playing the plantation course tomorrow which is close to the River. Kenny and Martha were great and both had wonderful short games. I think they both chipped in on the day and I'll have to ask her about the eagle. They had interesting stories to tell but that one didn't come up.
  15. The River Course at Kingsmill was a blast! I got paired with @Kenny B and his wife Martha. I played better today than yesterday and shot 57/55 for a 112. The course was beautiful! I did have this shot on the 18th hole, I lost my drive right, topped a hybrid to 89 yards and stuck a wedge into about a foot and a half.
  16. I had a blast playing with @Tom the Golf Nut @rkj427and @cksurfdude and enjoyed the course very much. It was tough, but fair.
  17. Good morning everyone! I'm awake a bit earlier than I planned this morning before heading up to RNK and then to Kingsmill for the outing. I woke up and my mind started spinning with thoughts of meeting everyone and playing and couldn't shut it off. I also realized I forgot to take my allergy meds when I woke up and had to rectify that mistake. I'm a little sniffly right now and that was a stark reminder of my mistake. I want to say thank you to @Tom the Golf Nutfor hosting me at his home, It was a fun start to the trip. For those of you I'm going to meet here in a few hours, I'm looking forward to it. For those of you traveling to the trip, be safe. @Northern MonkeyI hope your 3 weeks off gets off to a good start and you enjoy the break. Y'all have a good one!
  18. I've only played one round with it on a course where I wasn't able to get a data connection and I wasn't able to get it to work. I guess since it relies on using an app on the phone it just wasn't loading the app. I haven't looked to see if there's a setting in the app to use it offline, so thank you for the question since I haven't thought about it.
  19. I'm over in North Carolina getting private golf lessons from Tom and you better believe in going to break 150 tomorrow at RNK. Without the lessons, I would probably shoot 200
  20. Good morning everyone! Let's head to North Carolina and get ready for the outing. Y'all have a great day!
  21. I'm looking forward to getting this outing started. I had a hard time going to sleep last night and hopefully I won't have that problem tonight.
  22. I hope so, too. There's nothing worse than having time off just to have storms roll in and stay for a while.
  23. Good morning everyone! It's a nice morning here as I'm just chilling in the parking lot drinking coffee. I'm looking forward to being on the road to North Carolina around this time in the morning heading to the outing. @Northern Monkey I hope you can enjoy your time off, twenty days sounds like a pretty good amount of time to dial in the Cobra's. For those of you who are getting ready to go to the outing, I hope you have safe travels and I'm looking forward to seeing all of you. I hope all of you have a wonderful Tuesday!
