  1. Agreed. If the VP of Rules is not enforcing the rules, he has to go. I understand not wanting to hurt people's livelihood, but he has a job to do and isn't doing it. How many of us would lose our jobs because we chose not to abide by the rules? Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
  2. Did a couple of backyard practice sessions today, hitting off a mat into a net, trying to work on my hip rotation on the downswing. It's not something I have focused on much before so is a bit of a challenge for me. I'm hitting my irons fairly consistently and quite often hitting it flush. Driver is hit or miss, but that's all off a mat into a net. The heat and humidity has been too oppressive lately to play to see if it will translate to the course. Hopefully I'll be able to play in next Thursdays coworker scramble and find out. Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
  3. Beautiful irons! I bet that was a fun itch to scratch. If I hadn't gone with the Cobra One Length to upgrade my irons I probably would have gone Mizuno. Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
  4. My last club purchase was the TA Impact 3 putter. Thanks MGS for giving me a reason to spend more money. Also a Cobra Ultralight Sunday bag, again thanks MGS testing! [emoji1] Got a few more GolfJet balls too. Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
  5. Every Thursday a group of people from work play a scramble after hours. I played a couple of weeks ago, one group had 4 and my group had 3 so my team rotated a shot to even it up. I had the rotating shot on a par 3, I think it was maybe about 140 yards. I typically struggle teeing off on par 3's, usually topping the ball and it goes nowhere or into whatever creek happens to be in front of me. I hit first and I hit my 7 iron high and dead straight and it rolled out to within 2 or 3 feet of the hole. Since I had the rotating shot I also hit 4th and it was an almost identical shot to the first one. Only problem is none of us could putt and what should have been an easy birdie ended up as par.
  6. Only limited use so far, but I'm a fan. Being relatively new to golf, having the same setup for every club really helps to simplify things for me and practicing with them seems to be helping me develop a more repeatable swing. I am even able to make solid contact with the 4 and 5 irons, though I don't have the swing speed to really take advantage of the low loft. From 7 iron on up I am able to hit the ball high and straight with some green stopping power, assuming I put a good swing on it. It's just an added bonus that they are really nice looking clubs too. I also ditched the Arccos and regripped them with CP2 Pro midsize grips and like them even more. I think on the Cobra site they market them for low to mid-handicappers with faster swings, but they have worked out well for me so far. If I had a handicap it would be high and 7i swing speed tops out around 70 mph. Only thing I don't like is they are lofted about a club stronger than my old irons, so I just have to remember the P is like a 9, 9 is my old 8, and so on.
  7. I have a couple of clubs that fit this description. I have only been playing a couple of years, but one club that's been in the bag almost from the start is my TM R580 5-wood. I think this club is about 16 or 17 years old but I have hit some of my best shots from the fairway with it and just recently a really nice stinger to get out of a dirt patch under a tree. I don't know why but I tend to struggle more with a 3-wood but my 5-wood is just easy to hit. The other is my Cleveland RTX 2.0 CB 52* wedge. It is my go-to wedge for approach shots around 80 yards and in. Easy to get the ball in the air and have had some pretty decent results on pitch and chip shots. Despite upgrading to a new driver, putter and irons this year, the oldies are still my favorites.
  8. The C4 was another option I was looking at. I will probably pick some up at some point to try out and compare as I am still trying out different balls. Have some Snell, Elixir and Q Star Tour I need to take for a ride too. I didn't subscribe to GolfJet either, I just bought the balls separately on Amazon and eBay. I'm not much of a subscription kind of guy.
  9. Good price for such a good quality glove. Even $15 a piece on Amazon isn't too bad. I may have to get a couple more as backups. Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
  10. I'm not a pro, or aspiring to be, so I'm not too worried about it. [emoji39] Sent from my ZTE A2017U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  11. I guess you could say I've got a bit of buyers remorse, mostly like why did I buy all those dozens of Wilson Duo Softs!? I have noticed much better green sticking power since I starting trying urethane balls, and with so many affordable urethane options on the market now there is no reason not to play them. Maybe I'll save the soft, 2-piece ones for the winter.
  12. I have been using the Bionic Stablegrip almost since I started playing two years ago and I love them, very comfortable and I love the all black look and the support from the special pads. I just recently tried the FLX, and it is just about the softest most comfortable glove I have worn so far. I'm not ready to bench the Bionic yet, but it is a very close 2nd.
  13. I really don't think warming up on the range really matters, at least for me. I used to always get a little range time in before a game because I thought I had to get warmed up. Sometimes a good range session was followed by a poor round, or vice versa, but mostly I hit a few solid shots on the range and a few solid shots in my round. The last two times I have played I either went straight to the tee box or just took a couple of practice swings before teeing off and they were the two best games of my life. So going to the range before a game, I can take it or leave it, though leaning towards leaving it now.
  14. In the two years since I started playing I have typically gamed low compression 2-piece balls (Wilson's mostly), but after the MGS ball test came out and seeing some pretty reasonable urethane covered options available, I started looking around for some good deals and stumbled across GolfJet. They had some affordable listings on Amazon and eBay (around $20 a dozen) so figured I would give them a try. For those that haven't heard of them, they are an Australian company that offers a subscription service and they have balls (obviously), gloves, tees, ball markers, hats and towels. They offer 3 and 4 piece urethane covered balls and I tried the Jet4 (4-piece ball), targeted at swing speeds of 50-100 mph. Without trying to sound too much like a commercial for GolfJet, I'll just say they performed very well for my slow and inconsistent swing and I was wondering if anyone else had tried them, or even heard of them. In the find it/cut it vein, I also sliced one open after using it for a few holes just out of curiosity.
  15. Not sure what's going on with the links. I am copying the ones from the Amazon listings but it's going to Wal-Mart instead. Either way they are still $24.99.
  16. Hey guys. So this isn't a coupon or contest but thought I would throw this out there for anyone who hasn't seen it. Amazon has Srixon Z Star/Z Star XV 5 listed for $24.99. That includes the tour yellow on the XV's. Srixon Z Star 5 Srixon Z Star XV 5
  17. Just picked up a WS D300 3W on eBay for $30 bucks! Can't wait to get that sucker and try it out.
  18. Bought a couple dozen Snell balls with the deal going on for MGS members. Also picked up a Wilson Staff Triton driver. Did I need a new driver? No. Will it make it into the bag? Who knows. But I am always on the lookout for interesting/good deals on eBay.
  19. Thanks for the clarification. I'll have to remember that if I ever get the point of playing in a tournament. I mainly went for the StableFit because I wanted to wear a black glove and that was the only black Bionic I saw on Amazon. I may have to try the Performance Grip sometime though. I'm never opposed to trying new golf gear.
  20. I don't use my 3-wood a lot, but when I do I hit some real worm burners. As a newer golfer I still top a lot of shots and I have a hard time getting the ball in the air with it. I do much better with my 18* 5-wood, which is one of my favorite clubs in the bag. I can hit the 5 off the deck 150-170 yards, which for me is long.
  21. According to GregB, some may not be conforming.
  22. I am a big fan of the Bionic StableFit gloves. For me they last a long time and are very comfortable. I'm still using my first one which is now getting a bit stiff and crinkly, but I bought two more as backups so I'll be set for a while. I never thought about them being non-conforming, but it doesn't matter to me at this early point in my game anyway.
