  1. My son is as tall as I am, 6' maybe little more or less. True the doors require us to pull each foot back to get it inside but once inside there is plenty of leg room and pedals are where they should be. MG for Morris Garage started in 1930 with the classic doghouse "bonnet" for the engine, separate headlights on a frame and open wheels with flowing fenders. Austin-Healey was a competitor as a joint venture between Austin and BMC which later built the Jaguar. We have size 8 1/2 and 10 feet, no problem with the pedals. These are all the smallest sports cars made, perfect size for 2 seats, a motor under the bonnet, 4 tires (tyres) and a boot just large enough for a picnic basket and blanket. Perfect for touring the English countryside. That sounds like something is going to suffer, likely driver and vehicle. Patrick with his Ford Bronco Sport next to the MG Midget. The MG looks good on him!
  2. Good morning MGSpies from a humid WNY with a passing shower as I was getting up - zero commute today with time shifted back an hour for an afternoon online symposium event, so good thing no tee time today. Yesterday was a little too much recovery time and inertia kept much from getting done, will have to kick it in gear after work to get one small project complete I only thought about yesterday (but you know thinking is the hardest part, for me anyway haha) Hope golf is a part of your day! Mmmm good coffee
  3. Date 07/20/2023 Course Name Chestnut Hill CC Gross Score 98 Course Handicap 24 Gross Strokes over/under par 26 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 74 Net Birdies or better 6 Longest Drive 199 Special Event Nothing special, just a good day on the course.
  4. Reserving my right to be whatever age I am perceived to be that has always been younger than my age. No truth to the fact I am retirement age
  5. Good morning MGSpies on a peaceful not sure if recovery is in the offing until SWMBO gives me the house list for today Sunday. Yesterday featured DMV with son to get plates for his new project car MG Midget, house chores for furniture and heirlooms arriving from wife's parents about to be downsized family homestead, backyard party at wife's uncles where our band played a couple hour long sets (all standing in partial shade) with tons of good food and drink, and then moving said furniture and heirlooms to the house with son's help, all be before midnight. Hope golf is a part of your day and mine!
  6. Good morning MGSpies on a gorgeous WNY summer Saturday, glorious actually with a bit of a sleep-in. Yesterday's Duster Challenge raised $4K for the PGA REACH Foundation and PGA HOPE program with 96 participants playing in 2 well organized tee times of threesomes on the practice putting green with challenging putts all recorded using the Western New York PGA App in the app stores for mobile scoring, just like the Pro tournaments. With everything a par 2 it was easy to tell how I was doing and with 4 lip-outs for bogie but one birdie shot 21/21 42 which was T-28 and well above the cut line of 16 and a 6 player playoff was needed to get the final 16 for the match play rounds and final stroke play to determine the winner. No golf today as the family activities are too many to list, hope golf is a part of your day!
  7. My 2014 Equinox is the same for headlight replacement, on a winter day had to pull all the plastic retainers out of the driver side wheel well liner to get at the back of the headlamp assembly, it was well sealed with a flexible cap and there was lots of room with the liner out. Prep and replacement of the liner was 95% of the job and it was a cold day for sure. On the plus side, I have to do some rust work on the passenger side front fender and the fender liner is a known item now in warm drier weather.
  8. Good morning MGSpies on a cooler summer payday Friday in WNY with the comfort of the home office hot coffee in the mug. Last night's storms did not do much locally, I had posted radar and photo on Random Thread last night and all reports is apart from lightning and heavy rains that moved across the region nothing to report in the news thankfully. Golf yesterday before the front arrived was 48 for 9 holes, not spectacular but good shots and still playing the same balls for the month of July, will need to retire them for cleaner ones soon but there is something about keeping two balls in play for many rounds today's golf is the 7th annual Duster Challenge 18 holes putting elimination tournament at Glen Oak GC to benefit PGA REACH foundation, should be good representation from PGA HOPE on the leaderboard - hope golf is a part of your day too! https://westernnypga.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/westernnypga23/event/westernnypga2325/contest/5/leaderboard.htm
  9. Some heavy rain on the skylight for a few minutes, a couple booms of thunder. Now the sunset is sneaking underneath the clouds making the west glow Like I predicted, locally not much to get excited about. Hope @BKervin is faring as well in her PA neck of the woods south of here.
  10. It's here, as promised but my thinking is WNY will once again have no exciting weather tonight just like 5 years ago when a tornadic dangerous thunderstorm front swept up the lake from Ohio and Pennsylvania only to evaporate on approach leaving us a peaceful evening. Like this...
  11. Good morning MGSpies from summer is in full control WNY for this Thursday hot coffee still too hot to sip = smells great on this no-commute day of work from home central with the desk arrangement turned enough to keep whomever is lurking in the background visible in periphery to avoid yesterday's surprise (the adrenaline rush shock took hours to subside). Today will be my first full miss for the Community Call with tee time at 3:56pm, trade-off for sure, going to miss seeing everyone this week hope golf is a part of everyone's day!
  12. Good morning MGSpies from a gorgeous summer early on this Wednesday in WNY, hot coffee and zero commute day in the basement office, next tee time tomorrow and hope golf is a part of your day Sorry for the short greetings this morning - with the fan noises of dehumidifier and circulation fans keeping it comfortable down here, had a fright when wife came down to tell me something, thought I was alone until she apparently went from talking to me to a shout, horrible shock to a combat Veteran
  13. Good morning MGSpies on a smoky AQI Tuesday from downtown Buffalo sitting in the vehicle enjoy CloZee Evasion on Pandora sipping hot coffee before heading into the office. Golf Tournament yesterday was a fundraiser for Genesis Community College Cougars athletics and my foursome won the best dressed award. Hey if you can't win you might as well look good no tee time for today and hope your day has golf in it
  14. Good morning MGSpies from an overcast smoke affected AQI day in WNY, will be spending it outdoors playing a golf tournament at Stafford CC with regular partners and our foursome dress code of traditional so will be rockin' my camouflage (photo later) coffee going down satisfyingly smooth as Jason said giving this slower Monday start a delightful beginning hope golf is a part of your day!
  15. I have been to Wildwood CC and played on the indoor sims in February/March this year during a winter PGA HOPE session, fabulous indoor putting room complete with contoured indoor turf and well placed cups) but not on course. Good question to post in the FB WNY PGA HOPE Members Group. Also check out your golf app for a course overview (SwingU has it) or their website for the scorecard and Mike Mancari is the Head Golf Pro out there. Best of luck for your tournament, my next tournament is at Stafford CC tomorrow.
  16. Will wave if we see you, son's RIT apartment in Herietta first then to Rush to look at the vehicle he's interested in. Have a great ride, weather is definitely looking better now.
  17. Good morning MGSpies from overcast WNY with a variable forecast today. Got a call from son last night to go look at another project vehicle he is considering so good thing nothing else is on the agenda to be considered, MyGolfSpouse is accompanying me so it will be a family experience. Golf is Forum today and a golf tournament tomorrow so looking forward to what should be a great second year in a row for what was a great time last year, more to follow in subsequent posts and hope golf is a part of your day!
  18. Going with Good morning MGSpies from Hawaii time on this Saturday, had to get moving first thing to get grass cut before the family band practice to get ready for a family backyard concert party next Saturday, guess we can call it the 2nd annual since last year was the first one we did, we usually play open mic first Monday of each month at a local neighborhood tavern. No golf besides Forum posting although just like last week's rehearsal, arrived in sunshine then after loaded instruments into vehicles before the after practice beer to avoid getting soaked with approaching storms. Currently we have thunderstorms and heavy rains moving through the WNY area hope golf is a part of your day
  19. Date 07/15/2023 Course Name Elma Meadows Golf Course Gross Score 100 Course Handicap 24 Gross Strokes over/under par 30 Net Score to Par 6 Net Score 76 Net Birdies or better 2 Longest Drive 191 Played Tuesday and Friday, both 50 on a par 35/70 so well over handicap. Last hole was the best of the lot with a long straight drive with Teeless, good lofted wedge onto the green, and a 65 ft uphill one-putt par.
  20. Good morning Alan, As involved as I am with PGA HOPE I know the Pros are trained in adaptive golf techniques for Veterans with physical limitations and I have seen them in action and the creativity they demonstrate never fails to astound me. My contribution to the groundswell (or would that be ocean swell) of support from our fellow Spies would be to change course and look for those who have seen these problems before for their area of expertise and if nobody has looked at it before, poke the VA lion and see how they wake up to the challenge of playing golf with hands that don't grip as well. If they can do things for Vets with no arm, hands, legs or feet to golf, I am sure they have something up their sleeves that will get you back on the course. (see what I did there?) Looking forward to many more years of your contributions here in our MGS world, Derek
  21. Good morning MGSpies on an it's finally Friday in WNY looking at the posts this morning of umbrellas and golf in rain brings a joyful feeling like @ParFore74x it is peaceful times amidst the maelstrom and @berkeleybob I see your rig as camouflaged for blending in Men In Black style Hot coffee getting this last no-commute day started and a 4:20 tee time awaits with forecast that will not require my own rain gear, but it is what it is hope your day has golf in it too.
  22. Awesome to not just hear Sam Hahn but also see him and his office, what a treat! Great to see everyone else too, lost my link just before I was due to leave so catch you all next time.
  23. Best part for me is I finally have a MGSpy member I can actually play with locally instead of driving hours to get to a tee time. I think you will find if anything I understated what the Forum has to offer. Glad to share the experience and benefits of membership
  24. Well then we are just going to have to get together and make that happen, no idea when but maybe there is another trip in the offing to visit my brother in Cary. YB was right to give that to me and on Tuesday had my longest drive with it to date at 191 yards, only 19 yards shorter than the First Strike Rattlesnake 10* driver went on its best day.
  25. Rob, welcome into the MGS Forum! Good to see you joined and you're already posting, that was a great PGA HOPE final session and really enjoyed the few holes we shared on course (and your cart driving left my kidneys intact in place so thank you very much!) Just so you know, you are the first of countless people I have mentioned MGS to who has not only joined but also had the good manners to reach out and connect to let me know you're here Derek Hey look @Tom the Golf Nut at the club in my hand!
