  1. Have been using the Garmin S62 with club sensors for two years and am mostly happy with it. The only issue for me is tracking putts. The sensor is a bit too touchy and you have to pay real close attention to how you hold your putter as you walk around the green to size up the putt, the break, the grain etc. so as not to get false positive readings. Way more to think about when you should only focus on your upcoming putt. No sensor in my putters anymore. The shot tracking data from the S62 and pushed into the Garmin Golf App is decent and pretty helpful with understanding strengths and weaknesses. Just wish I was able to track the proximity to the hole on the greens.
  2. Thank you Titleist and MGS for the chance at the wedges. Would love to game the Vokeys. My answers below: 1st Tie Breaker What is the Cut Number. Such as -4 and better makes the cut +1 2nd Tie Breaker -Who will be the low amateur Christo Lambrecht
  3. What would make me a great tester? I am almost 65 and am a decent senior golfer. Not every manufacturer is interested in that demographic, and I get that, but for the ones that are interested, I think I pretty well represent amateur senior golfers. We are constantly looking for tech that will help us capture the power and speed that we enjoyed earlier in life. I live in South Central Texas and am a regular member and officer of an amateur golf association (https://www.missioncitygolf.org) We play our version of competitive golf at least every Saturday, 52 weeks per year. There is no off-season so testing would start this Saturday and the item(s) would be placed into pressure situations right away. Aren't these the conditions under which a manufacturer would like to know the true performance of their device or article? Further, my testing observations and opinion would benefit not only the MGS community but carry weight in our 100+ member golf association. I realize that marketing isn't the primary purpose of testing, but it sure can't hurt. I am and have been a student of the game for many years. Curiosity and knowledge drive my pursuit of golf and unfortunately for my scores, I am continually learning and tweaking things. Analysis paralysis, I suppose, but I thoroughly enjoy the technical and design side of things. Perhaps that is a trait that makes me an ideal tester? Or maybe not, we'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for listening.
  4. Definitely a pro-music guy, but only with the right foursome. Most of the younger players in our group aren't crazy about my Spotify golf mix of 70's and 80's hard rock. But all I can tell you is that there is nothing fires you up after a bogey or double than a couple AC/DC, Van Halen or Bon Jovi tunes heading to the next tee. I say let the tunes play, but be respectful of those that it bothers.
  5. Thanks Titleist. You guys rock! -1 and better makes the cut Jordan Spieth will be -3 after the 2nd round.
  6. Vice Pro and Pro Plus for sure. They seem "spinnier" for me than Pro V or Pro V1 and would like to see if that's the case. And ditto above, not sure if this will be tested or not, but I find that the Vice Pro's tend to be damaged easier than other balls. Again don't know if there is any science to that or I just hit into too many rocks of the Hill Country!
  7. Since we're tossing opinions here, one more can't hurt. This topic is timely as I have been wondering whether softer shafts and/or GI irons would benefit me. I'm 62, carry an 8 hcp and have had 2 iron fittings in the past 45 days. Both OEM reps fit me in stiff and both said regular wouldn't really benefit me, at least at this point in life. So IMHO the wrong thing to do is to select a shaft or an iron design based on handicap, or exclude a shaft / club based on handicap. There are more important factors involved. ChuckZ's post above covers those bases pretty well. With the costs of equipment today you better be playing something that you like.
  8. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Started playing golf around age 9, played a lot in high school and then 6-8 times per year for the next 30 years. Playing once per week the past year. What do you love about golf? Absolutely love being outside with nature, the challenge to improve and become better. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Came to MyGolfSpy reading product reviews. As of yet, don't know other Spies. Where are you from? What is your home course? Midwest mostly. Originally from the St. Louis area and lived 38 years there in different stints, Iowa, Virginia, Texas in high school, San Antonio Texas the past 7 years. Don't have a home course, but play in a weekly golf association (missioncitygolf.com) that plays in and around San Antonio area. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best is play year round. The worst is the heat in July and August. What do you do for a living? Part owner and operator of an electroplating facility the specializes in the cosmetic plating of components for aircraft interiors. Have been in electroplating 40 years. How’d you pick your user name? My first name plus birth year.
