  1. played another 18 yesterday with the MindSet. My iron play and putting were great yesterday; not so with my driver unfortunately.

My putting (for me) was fantastic yesterday. only four 3 putts - I'm good for at least 9-10 a round. I visualized the putt and break, and then focused on the green dot on my putting stroke. Even managed to sink a nice 10 footer with a left to right break. two 1 putts and twelve 2 putts. the methodology works for me on the green; which has been my typical weak part of my game.

Irons were great yesterday as well. what helped me most was step 3, when I cleared my thoughts and just focused.

On the other hand, the ugly slice has crept back into my Driver drives, and the confidence level is at an all time low. As much as I try to visualize and clear my mind on steps 2 and 3 - its just not working.

  2. Took the balls out yesterday and played 18 on a more challenging course than I usually play. Some observations:

    1) never really having a pre shot routine as the mindset is, I had a hard time keeping to it when I lost my swing at about the 6th hole.  At that point, I was more preoccupied with trying to figure out what I was doing wrong than to practice the routine. That lasted about 4 holes and then I was able to reset and kept to mindset.

    2) Even going thru my mid round struggles, this was the first real practice using mindset on the greens.  I was able to focus better on the putting using the mindset concepts (even on the holes I was struggling with my swing).  While my putting did not suddenly improve, I was more aware of elements and environment in step 1 than I normally focus on; and visualizing was something I had not done in the past.  And for putting I do like the bullseye and arrow setting that up for my initial direction. Putting is probably the worst part of my game fyi.

    3) Mindset on my drives is where I have seen the biggest improvement.  With visualizing my path I hit 8 of 13 fairways (5 par 3's on the course) and 2 drives were just off the fairway- other 3 were during my loss of swing period.  The game is easier on the fairway (LOL). During warmup I knew my drives were going to be a bigger fade (than straight), so I just went with hit- visualized the path of the swing and set up and aimed accordingly.  60% FIR is a high for me and 10 drives where I wasn't hitting behind a tree or from roots or rocks - made for a more pleasant afternoon.

Played 9 this morning. Have been using the Mindset BRX for a number of rounds.  The Bridgestone ball itself continues to be excellent for my game.  Relatively low spin off the driver, nice spin on short irons and a good feel off the putter.  What has really improved my game is the Mindset graphic. It has made me focus on each shot.  I rarely come out of the shot now when in the past it was quite common.

I tried an experiment today and created my own “Mindset “ graphic on my usual gamer, Oncor Elixr. Performance wise I find the balls equal, excellent. I do not find any performance differences.  The graphic has been as successful in keeping me in my shots.  Shot 41.  Season low.

Love that you are matching the color scheme too @MajorCavalry! How much you selling a dozen for?

  4. Hit the simulator today. As much as I focused on my drives making a beautiful draw per step 2, they still faded and sliced. More to do with my swing I imagine.

The process is interesting since I didn't do those 3 steps usually, or I did in my head (other than to visualize the ball path). But to stop and think about everything, then imagine the ball path, and then swing - is a nice thing to incorporate into my game - Mindset or no mindset ball. Not sure the ball matters taking the time to do the 3 steps, but the mark on the ball does remind me to take the time to focus.

I tried placing the bullseye in different positions, and finally settled on the green dot on top of the ball with the arrow pointed in the direction I want my club path to go. I actually found this very helpful - as an out-to-in swing creeps into my swing and I want an in-to-out swing. The red lines (and I guess the 3 circles) gives me a nice visual.

As for ball performance. Slice or no slice on the drives, this ball had some ooomph. I was getting numbers consistently farther than normal. With drives (when I hit them fairly straight) sometimes approaching 10 extra yards. Extra yardage also showed up on 6I and 9I shots as well.

Sunday I will be playing 18 with the ball.

Did anyone who applied for the second go-round get notified that they were going to get to test prior to receiving balls? Just curious since the other thread was closed and everyone seems to be posting in here now.

No. They just showed up on my door step the other day. Was a nice surprise when I came home.

  6. Hi All. Didn't think I was selected, but a dozen Bridgestone RX balls were delivered to my house yesterday without any info. So I am assuming its from MyGolfSpy. So first of all, thank you and super pumped to try these balls out.  Will be playing 9 (or simulator) tomorrow.

As a higher handicapper, i'm thinking the MindSet protocols is something that can help my game.

  7. Hello All, Frank from Westchester, NY

    - I have been playing golf for about 4 years.  Originally, I picked it up in my early 20s since it was fun messing around with my friends; nothing serious back then.  Then Marriage and kids came.  Fast forward 30 years and we were all couped up during the pandemic in the summer of 2020. Everything was locked down at the time, as you all know. The family stuck in the house going bonkers.  We read one day that golf courses were opening up.  Me and 2 of my kids jumped at the chance to get out.  We had the best time- not score wise mind you- but it was the first time in quite awhile that it seemed we were normal.  It was just the 3 of us, walking outdoors, breathing fresh air, laughing and just having a good time.  Our scores were terrible that day, but we didn't care - it was a great memory for me.  Since that day, I've been hooked on golf.

    - I found MyGolfSpy from Instagram, I think. Today I thought I'd explore the content some more.

    - Westchester, NY is where I live.  Don't have a particular home course, but play the Westchester muni courses, as well as courses in CT.

    - I am a lawyer.
