Volvik makes the best, highest-performing golf balls with a matte finish. Or at least, this is what they claim. We are already in the process of having the tour-level Volvik Condor and Condor X golf balls tested, but not all golfers want or need a tour-level golf ball. This is where the Volvik Vivid golf ball enters the market.

The newest version of the Vivid series was released in February of this year and is available in seven colors, all of which are sure to catch the attention of playing partners.

The Volvik Vivid golf ball is a 3-piece golf ball designed to be longer and more accurate with better visibility. It features a patented Nano Bi Core blend that adjusts in different temperatures to provide maximum energy transfer. The mid-layer is made of ionomer construction to further enhance ball speeds and reduce side spin. Then there is the infamous cover: a patented SF Matte surface finish that is highly visible and offers improved spin and durability. The last feature on these golf balls is their V-Focus alignment aid. Featuring a triple-line design, Volvik states the narrow line works as a multidirectional visual key system to better help golfers with alignment.

The Testing Opportunity

We are looking for four golfers to test, review, and keep two dozen Volvik Vivid golf balls in a color of their choice. Are you a golfer who uses matte or colored golf balls? We want to see how these compare to others in the same market space to determine if these are really the best-performing golf balls with a matte or colored finish.

If you are a golfer who uses colored golf balls, this may be the perfect test for you!

MGS literally just released an article saying to NEVER play a matte gold ball!!!

I love that we spies will be testing the one thing MGS told us to never do!!!

Best of luck to those who sign up!

Hard to lose the balls that come in colors. They seem like interesting balls. They pick lucky winners on my daughter's birthday. Good luck to everyone.

If you need someone to test the visibility of these balls after they've been shanked 200 yards out of bounds, I'm definitely your guy.

It's getting harder to see my long shots. My other senior league partners are just as bad. This is a great opportunity to experiment with different colors to spot the ball. I also would like to see how the ball react to certain shots.  Whomever gets to test them, I look forward to seeing their report. Good luck  everyone!

As someone who often mixes in Callaway Supersoft matte red balls, I'd love to try another option to gauge performance between the two matte styles. Want to make sure that I'm playing the best matte ball for me!

With those bright colors, I might reduce the amount of balls that randomly disappear in the fairway.

I have never used a matted ball but would like to try

I would highly recommend it! Or at least grabbing a sleeve or some of the recovered balls from your local golf course to try out one round.

I use Kirkland's most of the time, but on gray or super bright days, the Red Volvik Matte's are awesome and help keep track of the ball a lot.

Just stay away from the green (easily lost in the grass) and blue (easily lost in the air).

I tend to only play twilights, so I'd love to see how these perform while remaining visible in low-light settings

Would love to put these against the Z Stars I use.  Testing always showed matte balls lack the chutzpa to hold up to course conditions, but I'd love to get some real-world comparisons.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but didn't MGS just post an article about how matte balls are hurting your game? Check out Connor Lindeman's article "this piece of equipment is killing your game" on the MGS main site.

I bought two dozen Vivid off clearance at Walmart about two years ago and they were fine.  Can't remember why I didn't buy again.  If chosen we'll see if they can show me why I should use them going forward.

I would expect a matte finish to lose distance due to friction. Or fiction. We want to know.

I've played these type of golf balls before if they're all white I don't have any problem seeing them but the matte color makes them really hard to find if you don't stay on the green or the fairway.

I have never tried a matte finish ball.  My eyes are getting bad, maybe a bright color will help.

I switched to a yellow ball a couple of years ago when I started having trouble seeing a white ball in the sky. I sort of rotate between the Bridgestone E12 contact, which is a matte yellow finish, and Oncore Elixer in yellow. One of my golfing buddies uses a Volvik Matte in orange.

As I get older it's easier to track the colored balls especially when you're hitting in the rough. Getting older so colored balls are easier to track and find especially in Long Grass. Would look like to try these volvik balls and see how they compare to what I'm using now.

Interesting that we have an article on how we should never use a matte ball and then a testing on same. Should make for some lively discussion. Big question is, what is the spin profile?

Good luck testers!

I like the feel of others that are in matte. Would be interested to see how these compare!

I used Volvik balls a while back and loved them, then they became difficult to get hold of, down here in NZ, so I tried other bright, matte balls but they weren't the same, It would be great to see how these compare with the older Volvik models and thier competitors.

I usually play matte colour golf balls, that’s the best way to find them in the course. At least until I read your recent article showing we shouldn’t play matte golf balls 🤦‍♂️
