Testers Wanted: Sub 70 Putters

Screenshot 2023-08-29 10.31.38 AM.png

Just because the seasons are changing doesn’t mean there isn’t still ample time to test and review golf clubs.

In MyGolfSpy Most Wanted Testing Sub 70 has performed well year over year and claimed third overall in 2023 Most Wanted Blade with the Sycamore 005 Wide Blade.  Bolstering an impressive lineup of 16 putters they have an option that will surely appeal to any golfer.

Sub 70 says “Every Sub 70 putter is milled from a billet of 1045 carbon steel which leaves no welds, castings or inconsistencies in the head. This is the best way to make a putter head and you will not find a more solid, great feeling putter. Aesthetically each of the Sub 70 putters offers a clean, classic black and white color scheme with traditional alignment lines. We have purposefully made the heads slightly heavier than the industry standard as we feel it allows a more natural pendulum like putting stroke. “

Sub 70 also introduced a new graphite/steel putter shaft this year that offers more technology, feel and stability.

Add in these Sub 70 putters will often cost half of what major brands sell for and there would seem to be perfect balance of value and performance.

This is where we need you!

We will be selecting four golfers to test, review and keep any putter from Sub 70’s lineup with the shaft preference of their choosing.

What do you think? Up for testing what could be the best underrated putter you haven’t tried and providing your feedback along the way?

SIGN UP ABOVE!

IMPORTANT! - Screenshot and/or share the Sub 70 Putter you want to test along with shaft and grip combo to be eligible for test!

*Test is open to US only
*Available for Left and Right handed golfers.
*Registration closes Sept 13 2023 and selections announced Sept 19 2023.

I have a Ping Anser 2 Scottsdale and would like to compare the Mid Mallet. Problem is it is “out of stock “and will not allow me to choose options, so I am including someone else’s screen shot (thank you tdc1). I play multiple courses during the month and would be able to test on different grasses. Maybe I’d stop leaving those birdie putts short.

I'd like to test the following:

Sub 70 002 Mid Mallet Putter (RH)

A traditional mid mallet design, the 002 putter has a plumber’s neck, white alignment line, and 30 degrees of toe hang best suited for those with a slight arc putting stroke.

Just started playing seriously less than a year ago. improving all the time, but putting is a drag for me. Bought my odyssey 2 ball without even trying it and i regret it. Still looking for what i need to feel "good" with a putter. Would love to try a center shaft putter like this!

Sub 70 putters are produced using the most advanced technological methods and without regard for manufacturing cost, because they are that important. Every Sub 70 putter is CNC milled from a solid billet of 1045 carbon steel, which through testing we have found provides the best sound and feel combination possible. There are no welds, no castings, and no inconsistencies in our putters. The faces themselves are double milled, with a tour face design that provides the perfect roll on all but the most off-center strikes. Our putters are heavier than average, which we believe offers better feel and roll on average, and promotes a better putter swing. Finally, each putter is matte carbon black in both the handcrafted putter shaft and the head to reduce glare and offer outstanding ball to head contrast.

Stroke stability and ease of visual alignment are perhaps the two most important aspects of a putter. After all, the ability to align the putter face correctly and strike the ball squarely down one's line is a near categorical imperative for making putts. The Sub70 Sycamore 004 Mallet is our take on a classic design that is a proven winner for both amateurs and tour players. The alignment wings provide cup width reference guides, while a white sight line provides the visual cue needed to not only start the putt on line, but hit the middle of the face every time. The 004 comes with 15 gram weights in the heel and toe, but ships with two 5 gram, two 10 gram, and two 20 gram weights to allow the player to dial in the exact swing weight and arc shape to suit every individual stroke. As with all of our putters, the Sycamore 004 Mallet is carved from a billet of solid steel, with a deep milled face and unmitigated quality and craftsmanship throughout.

Would love to test out the Sycamore 004 Mallet. Being a faced balanced putter, its mallet style seems to be the only option unless you went double wides, but they just do not suit my eye.

I’m interested in trying out the 005. I use the 001 FN and I feel like the response could be better given a few more grams of weight in the blade. Really great craftsmanship with the 001. IMG_8095.jpeg.4b81d256c9c5fcb7286fdc9112b0e7b6.jpeg
