Clinch Golf Gloves - 2024 Forum Review

Recommended Posts

While we wait for the gloves to come in ...

Just curious as to what people's go to golf glove is as of right now , what do you like, don't like in a glove ?  What have you tried in the past before landing where you are ?

I've tried many different brands srixon, callaway, top flite, zero friction, fj and red rooster. Red rooster is my current go to and completely changed my mind on gloves for fit, comfort , feel, and durability.  I'm excited to see how Clinch lines up with them ! I love supporting brands that focus on quality and not volume which I feel like the big brands have forgotten about .

My old problems with gloves would be a palm blow out really fast,  gloves not fitting right and being too long or wide because the sizes were so different . I would constantly be pulling the glove up before every shot and tightening the velcro to hope it stays on better.

I'm excited for the Clinch for the feel and durability. We have been getting longer golf seasons where I'm from the last few years because snow hasn't been coming so I get to test this deeper into the season and do some cold weather tests too.

I can 3 putt from anywhere

I haven’t locked in any one particular brand.  The majority of my gloves are FJ Staysof.  Looking forward to testing Clinch’s offering!

Glove arrival this Monday 9/30. Praying for no delays because I have a round scheduled for Tuesday morning.
I played at Fenway CC in Westchester this week.  It would have been a perfect day to test the new glove.  There was a 1% (one!) chance of rain. It rained on and off for an hour and a half.  IMG_4559.jpeg.84a2a3b7d1464593490104d1144f7410.jpeg

So excited received my Clinch gloves.  Packaging simple from USPS.  Nice Clinch zip bag!  Great surprise inside.  I expected an all weather typical glove, you know bulky and overboard.  Well,  these are silky and a perfect fit!!  Can't wait until tomorrow with my 12 noon tee time.  Also an extra benefit they sent me 2!

UNBOXING/FIRST IMPRESSIONS-

My two gloves came packaged in a brown envelope with the “Clinch” logo on the back.
IMG_4588.jpeg.5006164032cfebf4fcbdf6314f98b746.jpeg

Each glove comes in a neat re-usable, slider closing vinyl bag which could work as a valuables pouch in your bag. Clinch also tossed in a few tees and a sticker with the green and gray XL gloves.

IMG_4595.jpeg.fd2ed9fe46190afed65e70425ba73fa1.jpeg

First impressions was that the material on these gloves looked thick and heavy, almost like an outdoor work glove.
Well, upon taming it out of the bag and putting it on, I couldn’t have been more wrong.  As light as any other premium glove I have ever worn and the material was similar to any other glove as well.
I usually wear size XL golf gloves (mostly Footjoy and Callaway)  and these fit as expected.

IMG_4598.jpeg.dd7eb7242dc4d1425003c994c092d52f.jpeg It was overcast and damp today so I thought today would be a great day to start testing.  I set up my Rapsodo MLM2 and went to work.

After completing my first session (about  100 swings) I was impressed.  The first 70 or so the glove was dry. The last few swings I had grabbed my wet golf towel to damping the glove.  I had no issues maintaining my grip on my driver swinging full-boat and then some, with no effects on accuracy.

Played 18 yesterday in a nice 75 degree day.  Did have to get used to the glove in warm up as it is so comfortable and smooth had to adjust my thought.  Took a few holes and then just let it settle in as truly comfortable and was like not wearing a glove.  Adjustment from cabretta but a nice change.  Practice tomorrow!  I did hit 30 6 foot putts with it on today and a great feel.

Unboxing, and first impressions

Received the package on Monday, but because of storm damage and clean up, I did not have a chance to open the package until this morning.

i was impressed with the zip lock type bags that they are packaged in. These are great for storing many things. Now to my first impressions of the glove. Appearance wise the color is good. Fit was perfect. They really felt good on my hand.. Very soft and supple for an all weather glove. Allows great feel of the grip.

i was able to get out today and play a scramble with a bunch of friends. The grip on the club was good, and the gloves are not to heavy or thick. I felt I could tell where my shots left the club face better with these than I could with the previous glove I had been using.

as you can tell from the photos there was a lot of moisture in the air and on the course. We started the first 4 holes with a heavy fog. The gloves never felt damp and the grip felt just as good in the moist air as it did when it dried out. I used the same glove for all 18 holes. Normally I would switch my gamer glovers about every 6 holes.

i know this is early in the test but so far they performed good.

I had a charity stroke play event this week at Sunningdale CC in Westchester.  My plan was to hit the range and warm-up with the Clinch glove.  Then maybe mix it in a few holes on the course.  I ended up wearing it for the full round.  It performed great for me and felt extremely comfortable.

My First Impression when I finally received the Clinch package was favorable. Zip locked pouch for each glove was surprising. I have never bought or received a golf glove with such a useful package. Keeps glove dry with holes in plastic pouch, hand profiled, easily found in golf bag and much more durable than hard plastic and mostly cardboard packaging. The gloves fit perfect. The Clinch website suggested that ML/L size in other gloves would be a large in their glove. They were correct. (See photos)

Sorry for the gap!  Having some achilles tendinitis!  Have a tournament with my son in a week so will hit it strong for 8 days.  Practice session today.  Beautiful 72 degrees and here are pic.  130 balls.  Great feel today as I am working on some swing faults.  Glove was very comfortable and will show pics of no wear.  Cleaned my grips also and made for even a better feel.  This week:  18 Saturday Sunday.  Practice mainly wedges and drivers with a few fairway woods each day off tee.  Putting.  This is Monday - Friday.  Saturday practice and the short course at McLemore.  Sunday practice round, then putting and par 3.  Tournament Monday!  Will keep pics coming with review!

Second round today with my glove. The glove was great. (But my round was a different story). As far as glove grip I would rate as a 10 of 10 compared to my previous gloves. Used the same glove for a second round of 18 holes. Again grass and greens had a lot of moisture. This had no negative effect of the gripping ability of the glove. Here are my ratings of the glove after 36 holes.

Comfort 10 of 10. ( no stiffening or shrinkage)

look of the glove, 9 of 10 it does show a little dirt from using.

gripping ability 10 of 10

still feel that I can tell how ball is leaving the club better with this glove compared to the other brands I have used.
over all my early rating of this glove is a 9 out of 10.

I set up the Rapsodo for another range session a ended up with an unexpected experiment. One of the golf balls ended up on my pool cover, and as I went to retrieve it, my glove hand completely submerged in the pool water.  I then dried off and dripping water and continued my range session.
Thoroughly impressed how the glove worked absolutely soaked. I was able to maintain grip without an issue.
And it dried relatively quick.

Yesterday's review and some more background.  I am a Jack Nicklaus protégé so my glove does not come off during a round most time.  I do not sweat from my hands much either.  Played 18 on a beautiful 84 degree day in Atlanta.  Positives:  Glove is really comfortable and does stretch perfectly with your hand.  As you will see in the pictures there is no wear pattern.  Negative to me:  no tackiness so sometimes grip pressure is changing.  I am going to play nine with cabretta and nine with clinch and report back tomorrow.  First image was lose and start of round. Second was end of round!

Played 18 at Manhattan Woods yesterday. I wore the Clinch glove for warm-ups and the full 18.  Again, no issues with grip.  The palms of the glove show no signs of wear.  I had a great round, a few three putts too many..I may start putting wearing the Clinch glove.

Unfortunately the weather has not cooperated for playing the last few weeks on Vancouver Island. In addition, the golf course has been closed this week for fairway and greens aeration and punching. The only addition to my testing on Clinch gloves is in terms of Aesthetics. The stitching as far I can tell  without having played for more than once in 2 weeks seems consistent with no problem. As I mentioned in my First Impression comments, the reinforced palm is superior to the other synthetic gloves that I have tried. Finally, the closing tab onto the Velcro closure has enhanced rubber piece, which makes for firmer fitting. I would rate the Aesthetics as 19 out of 20.
I will be able to provide my critique of Fit and Feel once I have played and practiced more.

oday I played the third round with the Clinch glove. The glove still performs as before. Comfortable, no stiffness between uses. The glove is as soft and supple as when new. Now as far as my round, well it was a story of  two different nines. I was one under on the front nine and 10 over on the back nine.

Lucky enough to get my third round in and I didn’t hesitate to wear the Clinch glove. Temps are dropping so I havent really been able to work up a good sweat to test under hot conditions.
I did try and handle cold water bottles while waiting on the tee,  which did dampen the glove.
I was happy how the glove  performed. No signs of wear either. Hopefully get a few Rapsodo sessions in by the end of the week!IMG_4658.jpeg.cd3d4076d2bb0cbe3ad4d8b164530cc0.jpeg

Fourth round with the Clinch glove, I truly love this glove. It is not showing any signs of wear. Grip is still good. As you can see in the few photos the course had a heavy dew. Glove did get damp but there was no loss of feel or grip.

i would rate these gloves as a 10 put of 10. I am not going to place all the credit on the glove, but will say it is the most comfortable glove I have ever used. With that said. I am a 9.3 handicap and today was the best game I have ever played in 50 years of golf. Shot a 60, yes I said a 60 so actually shot better than my age of 65.

i guess I should also add temperature at first tee was 46 this morning.

I know it’s only been a little over a week but I will say both durability and comfort are 10 out of 10.  Here is a picture of my prior glove and the clinch glove. Both of these gloves have been worn on 4 rounds. All 4 of these rounds were early mornings with heavy dew. As you can see the old glove has become quite stiff and a bit uncomfortable. While the Clinch glove is still soft supple and very comfortable.

Update time!  Again another life delay!  I am a Grandpa now!  18 holes Sunday first 9 with Clinch glove.  Comfy conforming and no wear a very good glove!  Second 9 PGA superstore tour glove!  My opinion snugger fit which means a better feel to me.  Not any wear but a little red from my align grips.  I don't take my glove off during a round but I do believe the clinch glove will go on and off better due the the fabric used.  Big test this coming weekend as Friends of McLemore tournament is happening.

I got two more Rapsodo sessions in this weekend. So about another 150 swings on the Clinch glove.   Nothing new to report, no signs or wear and happy with its performance.
