  1. I really don’t get it. Falcons need defensive help and a guy that plays every down. I get that Cousins may not be 100% to start the season but the falcons aren’t doing themselves any favors. Is it possible they trade Penix?
  2. Desmond Howard on this evening “Game Day” was asked Whois the most NFL ‘ready” player in the draft. JJ McCarthy. Who will be the NFL Offensive Player of the Year? JJ McCarthy. Desmond the highest paid fanboi in America. I am now going to test this website to see if I can laugh at my own post….
  3. Nit sure if these qualify as non conventional since they have names: Chapman Scotch - 2 player team. Each hits a tee shot, then each player hits their partners resulting tee shot. Then choose the best result, then alternate shot until holed out. Only 1 score recorded. Man in the box - 4 man team. Each player assigned 4 holes which their score must be counted. Then best score if the 3 is recorded. Two scores recorded. Two holes record 2 b st scores. In my wife’s league, they play various fun games. One such is they only count # of putts for each player of 4 person team. Putts from off the green don’t count as putts (of course). Then they play a format counting # FIRs for 4 person team. High score wins.
  4. I tend to disagree with you as far as understanding his pov. His attitude is totally wrong and unacceptable and nothing justifies it. First, it sounded like it was your TT and the club paired him with you. Being a single is a crap shoot as far as who they get paired with. Clubs sell available tee times and we can expect random pairings. Just the nature of the business. I’ve played with a lot of golfers better than me and to a fault they are gracious and just happy to be playing. If the guy you got paired with can’t play his own game, from his appropriate tees, and maintain his own composure with some etiquette because of who he is playing with, then he isn’t as good as he thinks he is.
  5. I totally agree, prices are discouraging. But every set I work on, I’m amazed at the sheer quality and accuracy. And every time I think a piece might be missing, I find it. And for young kids, they learn quickly how to follow directions and learn how to visualize between the actual article and the instructions.
  6. Not necessarily a hobby but very frequently through 46 years of marriage fix what she breaks. I like to build things and have done quite a bit of woodworking. Also remodeling including during Covid spring finished our bonus room and bath over our garage. Built the staircase, all of the trim, painting, bathroom tile, shower pan, etc. Love to build legos with my grandson, and did a few on my own (space shuttle, Technic Posche). Sometimes I’ll binge in doing a puzzle. I read almost every night before going to bed. Mostly fiction but currently working on Oppenheimer. Learning a lot about the level of antisemitism back in the ‘30s, communist party activity, and other hatred in this country. The book is about 600 pages, smallest font I’ve ever seem - should be about 1500 pages.
  7. Very good half for both KU and Gonz. Team that figures out some defense wins.
  8. Sir. Charles was really hurt too, but very gracious at the same time. Same with Pearl.
  9. Many of us have known this story and CBS aired this morning. Not asking anyone to root for MSU, but do cheer for the goodness that Mady Sissoko brings to his village in Mali. https://www.cbsnews.com/video/meet-the-michigan-state-spartan-using-basketball-to-help-his-loved-ones/
  10. Darn, I hate hearing that lol. Very good player but extremely low character.
  11. I never like playing NU because that’s what they do. Will be interesting when they play UConn. Also interested in how UNL (Nebraska fairs), Hoiberg has done a great job there….kind of hoping he replaces Izzo at MSU in a few years.
  12. Missed that game, NU is decent and well coached.
  13. Did anyone see the foul called against Wisconsin in their win against Purdue in the B1G tournament? Wiscy player saw Edy running down the court so he planted his feet to stand his ground. Edy still took a few more steps while looking over his shoulder and barreled the Wiscy player. Foul against Wisconsin. Should have been a charge but Edy didn’t have the ball. Officials actually reviewed and called Wisc for the foul. MM officials won’t be so generous. The rationale being that in order to get a foul/charge against Edy, a legal notice must be published 30 days in advance in the Purdue local paper.
  14. Welcome to the Big Ten!
  15. MM off to another great start. My Spartans easily took care of MSST and now face #1 seed UNC on Saturday. My golfing buddy is a huge UNC fan and I’ve told him many times MSU could be the hands down #1 team in the country and UNC the worst, and we still cannot beat them. But we shall see. Maybe my close second favorite yesterday was Oakland Univ (formerly MSU-Oakland) and coach Greg Kampe taking down the Kentucky Calipari’s. Kampe one of the classiest coaches in America, and has been the coach for 40 years. MSU plays OU every December and Kampe got Izzo to wear an elf shirt. Also big Saturday for MSU in addition the 5:30pm UNC matchup. #5 ranked MSU hosting the hockey conference final Saturday night vs um. Top 10 ranked MSU, 9-0 in B1G gymnastics hosting the conference championship meet n the afternoon. And MSU women tipping off against UNC today.
  16. We just finished hosting the 3 day Linger Longer men’s collegiate golf tournament. U of Alabama won with a -40, Virginia at -29 and UGA at -26. https://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=team&tid=28850 Overall honors went to Alabama’s Jonathan Griz who won his first college tournament at -15. Also participating was 6’ 9” Christo Lamprecht from Ga Tech and South Africa, and current #1 ranked on the PGA Tour University rankings, and either #1 or #2 on the World Amateur rankings.
  17. I was kind of wondering that about Fields as a backup to Goff. Ben Johnson is so creative offensively it would be interesting to see.
  18. That’s a good one and most always overlooked. Just do the fix after you hit from the fringe if it’s anywhere close to your line of play (even if not made by your ball), otherwise it’s a penalty, regardless whether you putt or chip. When playing casually some of my friends will putt even if 10-15’ off the green. They’ll fix divots before putting or stomp them down. I don’t usually say anything even though they will post in GHIN. I have commented about that in general on the 19th hole tho.
  19. Yes, safety first and always. Nice thing with our carts is the gps system keeps an update pD pace of play read out, and will indicate how many minutes ahead or behind we are. There are times my wife and I are playing decently and end up waiting off and on during the round for the group in front of us. I’ll check the PoP readout and see we are 10 min ahead, or even right on schedule, so waiting a couple minutes and relaxing isn’t such a bad thing. Another nice thing with our gos screen is that it displays the hole layout from tee box to green, and any cart along the pathway is displayed on our screen.
  20. My first frustration relates to slow play and having to do with ready golf. Because of our terrain, the majority play with a riding cart. Both hit drives of generally the same distance but one is on the right side of the fairway, the other on the left. They drive to the nearest ball and wait for him/her to hit then drive to the second ball. Rather, once the first gets their club, the second person can either walk to their ball if they know what club to hit or drive the cart. Second, playing with someone who is always ‘mad’. One guy I’ve played with a number of times is a 20+ index which is fine. Obviously he has quite a few mishits, which angers him (maybe take some lessons?). The anger builds with each mishit. Then it spreads - the group behind us tees off and a drive lands 50-75 yards behind us. No big deal, right. Wrong, more anger, how dare they ‘I’ll take as much time as I want’. Now we’re on the green and group behind drives to the ball behind us. Guy is taking practice swings then they patiently wait fir us to finish. One guy happens to put his hand on his hip - how dare him! We rarely play together anymore. My basic rules are to focus on what is forward, not backward, and if I make a bad shot, I give myself 15 seconds to get over it. It’s just a game. Heres more - taking more than 3 minutes to find a ball. It’s gone, just play on. Fishing to find more balls so you break even slows play. On the range, people talking loudly when they are separated by 4 or 5 stations apart and people not in their group are in between. Greetings are fine but no one really cares about the bad meal you had last night.
  21. Good luck with the project! I think I would have done it myself and also gut the shower and put in a new pan. During the Covid spring, I finished our upstairs bonus room and bath and staircase that was roughed in when we built the house a couple years earlier. I had never done that before but was well worth it. With all the trouble you had with removing the wallpaper etc, I would have just removed the sheet rock and replaced it. That would also help with running any electrical if that was needed. But, I get it about wanting to play golf, but I can only golf so much and I like doing ‘building’ projects. What I save with diy, I can spend elsewhere. For my bonus room & full bath, my builder wanted $60K and I did it for $27K.
  22. And hand it to the refs for helping protect Mahomes in the face of the hurries by allowing their RT to line up in the back field. But it’s all a moot point. Chiefs lost that game. They won the SB and credit to them - they’re a great team and they don’t make excuses, win or lose. The lions lost their nxt game, at home to a team they should have beaten, and just moved on to the next. It’s a long season and no team goes unscathed. Much respect to the Chiefs. Let’s not turn this into the toxic likes of 2 4 7 Sports.
  23. I would think there are teams that will have interest that are rebuilding and not ready for their perceived franchise QB. Maybe that’s not how it works but he brings an element if athleticism that can cover up some shortfalls.
