  1. social golf-1 hour before tournament golf 1-1/2 hours before depending on how familiar I am with the course. social golf-, 5 shots with a PW, 5 shots with a 7 iron, 5 with 3 or 4 hybrid then 5 with the driver, then to the practice putting green, hit some push putts, then longer putts to get the speed of the greens tournament golf- 10 bunker shots, 10 chips, alignment sticks for 6 push putts, then speed putts, range is about the same as social golf, then back to the putting green before tee off, depending if the practice putting green is close to the 1st. tee or not, I like to be at the 1st tee 10 minutes before my tee off. Fun post, thanks for putting this up...
  2. Head sock (touque) if the temperature is below 8 degrees Celsius, then just a ball cap, I like special occasion ones ie. Masters week hat etc. Some friends have brought back caps from their golf trips for me, Pasatiempo is a fun one...
  3. those interclub matches, IMO are a real bonus of membership for me, I am happy to see your course and area do similar events as we do. We have 4 different men's leagues as well, Men's scratch (I call this the flat belly league) Senior men's scratch (round bellies) Men's handicap (open to anyone but usually played in the later afternoon so working guys can play) then Senior handicap (usually played anywhere from 11am to 1pm). So lots of options available. Usually an "A" division and a "B" division, highest point team from "B" moves to "A" and vice versa so there is incentive to play well as the "A" division usually gives you better competition. It is cheap and allows us to play 4 or 5 different clubs in the area and we get dinner or lunch after the round, it is just a really good system as far as I am concerned. In our case at our club we dont have many "scratch" players so a 2.2 index that you have would probably make the scratch league. One of our clubs in the area have 40 players with scratch or better indexes so yes, they have a strong team lol...
  4. that is one nice thing about the scratch league, no strokes given
  5. well, 1st. interclub match is in the books Olympic View against Royal Colwood senior scratch league Royal Colwood 4 points Olympic View 2 points I lost my match 2-1... wasn't fireing on all cylinders but my opponent wasn't either so a bit of a pillow match Play Victoria Golf Club at Olympic View next Thursday so looking for a better outcome..
  6. Certainly not morning but had to congratulate @Cfhandyman on the Maple Leafs win tonight, they schooled the Bruins, beat them in every category, looks like a good series shaping up
  7. wild play with my grandson and granddaughter!! Had to try the “kids” adventure!!
  8. Good morning spy's Fun competitive week ahead for me. 1st. interclub match at a beautiful A.V. McCaan designed golf course in Colwood called Royal Colwood. Always a good test and in great shape. Then my friend and his wife are coming over from Vancouver to team up with me in a two man best ball tournament called "the Island Open" on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament shifts between courses in our zone from year to year but this year it is round 1 at my golf course Olympic View and round 2 at another great course designed by AV McCaan called Gorge Vale. So that will be fun and I get to visit for 3 days with my buddy. Game is rounding into shape, will hit the practice area today and put a session in.. great weekend to watch golf, Nellie and Scottie rising to the top of the pyramid...
  9. I saw a couple of posts about @Josh Parker.. "hope you feel better soon etc. etc." I had to scroll back and see what the heck was up with MGS buddy!!! "Under the weather!!!" thank goodness that is all man, take on the day, and play a round of golf, always have to watch out for an injured or sick athlete lol...
  10. interesting game last night, I was surprised at the PP by the Bruins, got two PP goals and hit a couple of posts, goaltending was solid. This series is far from over but a bit more discipline from Domi would help. Although he was rewarded for his antics by more play by the coach. We shall see...
  11. With my personality, and not a lot of access to testing equipment, throughout my career I have always improved through practice, not changing my equipment, a current example, I have been pulling my shots, all the way through the bag, I played last Saturday with 3 really good golfers, one took me aside and said "you are swinging from the top". So yesterday I spent 5 hours going through my bag, and worked on not doing that. Not once did I think of going out and testing new equipment to try and fix the "pull". The only reason I changed my total bag last year except for 2 clubs, is because after 8-10 years I felt technology must have improved.
  12. similar but not exactly that kind...
  13. congratulations on your hole in one, way to go...
