  1. I WISH!! I'd love to either own an X-Golf franchise or run a club house at a quiet course somewhere that allows me to be mates with everybody that comes through but allows me to play golf whenever I wanted. What would be better than waking up every day and driving to the golf course, greeting the greens keepers, smelling the fresh cut grass, and sitting back with the sports channel on?!
  2. @Splatt can relate to this... he could land in a glass of water off the tee
  3. I'd say until the longest drive Par 5, when all of a sudden it decides to take a right hand turn at Albuquerque... HOWEVER, I've been managing to get at least a full 18-22 holes out of a ball before it gets to scuffed or goes bush walking...
  4. Seems to be the general vibe in here - work, family, time... I live 5 minutes from my local course and most days I'm to knackered to head there and aimlessly hit balls. If only I was really good at golf and earn millions of dollars...
  5. I've taken a couple clubs out of my bag because my 3 wood, 5 wood, 3 hybrid, and 4 hybrid were all going roughly the same distance (probably operator error more than anything). I'd definitely continue with the lessons and 100% pick the brains of your instructor for the best thing to suit your game.
  6. This sounds like what I was expecting. Going off a number of reviews for all drivers, the Qi10 seems the most forgiving but I love the look of the Ping.
  7. Would definitely much rather be playing golf at the moment than sitting behind a computer!! I even changed the temp from Celsius to Fahrenheit as to not scare the non-Aussies...
  8. I don't travel much further than my local retailer, but depending on the salesman on the day, results may very... I've found that it some times comes down to the time of the day, how busy the shop is or has been, and their overall interest in you and/or the equipment you are looking at. I recently went in to look at one driver, for shits and giggles, and an hour later the salesman had run me through a number of shafts and 4-5 different heads/brands to suit me swing and ball flight. If I had the funds I would have paid him there and then, but unfortunately left with nothing except a lot of confidence of what to look for in the future. Not sure if this has answered the question or not, but in short - trust your gut. If you feel like they're taking the piss or just going through the motions, they probably are.
  9. I'll probably be on the road at that time, so I'll have to make sure that when I get home I pour a big drink and settle myself before opening my emails.
  10. Wasn't planning on watching it (due to it being Monday morning in the land of Oz and I have work), but managed to throw it on one of my monitors in the background and seen the whole thing. Cracking game, really enjoyed it. Wish I had an esky full of beers and some wings though...
  11. So many out there at the moment but you need to be signed up to 50 streaming services to enjoy them. Just finished Reacher which was excellent, Percy Jackson was not bad for a kids show, and trying to knock off Echo which started off really well. Just waiting for the second season of Full Swing to start.
  12. Peak male athletes!! Let's go Joel! Sounds exactly like something you HAVE done.
  13. I'm in for sure... now I know the rules properly.
  14. Just filled in my review form and it was all positive. It was hard to judge the distance off the driver as I wasn't connecting the best, but I was getting pretty decent connection and flight from my irons. The one thing that was obvious straight away was that these balls wanted to fly! As soon as they were hit they got some great height, which made the approach shots really easy. Definitely liked the feel of these off of all my clubs, and the sound when I did manage to bomb one was amazing. I don't think they have the distance in them as other balls, but they were a pleasure to use. Will be heading out again in the next week or so and looking forward to having another hit with them.
  15. Mate, this is a spot on review. You have literally taken the words out of my mouth in regards to the performance of this Prototype. I'm no professional, but after using these Titleist's for a full round, I definitely seen and felt the difference from my current Taylormades. Mainly around the greens and the approach shots. The balls got some great height, flew straight, and either stopped on the spot or got a little bit of back spin. @TJ Hall awesome review mate, and great pics!
  16. Yeah, I'm super keen for it. Really enjoying all the sporting docos that Netflix are doing.
  17. Finally reached the 17th - 125 yard par 3 after a long and frustrating round. My 3 playing partners all sprayed their tee shots - left, right, short... so I said to them quite confidently "stand back lads, this is how's it done!" There was no reason for this confidence as I had doubled and tripled all previous par 3's that day, but none the less I grabbed my PW and placed my ball down. My playing group all piped up with their words of encouragement (or sarcasm), and away I swung. Great connection, perfect flight, right at the flag. I held the pose for extra luck and watched the ball land with hawk like vision... boom. The ball landed about 3 feet past the hole and then did a little bounce back towards it. No hole in one again, but there were cheers and pats on the back had as the disbelief of such a glorious shot right at the end of the round could be produced. Anyways, I wondered down to the green and completed my 2 putt to walk away with my first par of the round... the weather was nice though.
  18. I recently went past my local golf store for a bit of a window shop, as you do, and seen the Paradym driver sitting on the rack so thought I would see if it hits as good as it looks. Unfortunately the standard wasn't for me (something about too much back swing)... so I tried the triple diamond. Immediate improvement. Spin rate dropped and so did the ball flight, but distance was still lacking. So the golf pro I was dealing with, handed me the Ping G430 LST (with the stiff tour-pro shaft)... wow!! First drive was almost arrow straight, 20m lower from when I started, and my back spin was at about 1400. The more I hit with it, the more it felt amazing and really consistent. I could see the salesman getting a bit excited, so I politely asked how much I would be looking at and he said "at the moment it's on special for $850. (AUD)"... I thanked him for his time and efforts and walked out empty handed... BUT I've have been thinking about that dam club ever since...
  19. I've been to a couple courses that have no range available and I've also rocked up 5 minutes before my tee time, however my main focus when this happens is to stretch as much as possible to loosen up. Then I practice my setup and swing with a couple irons and then my driver. Having a few decent swings and getting a good look at how I'm going to address the ball usually helps... worse case scenario, grip it and rip it and hopefully your game comes together on the first couple holes.
  20. You have got to love nuking a nice drive or approach shot, only to chunk your chip on or rocketing it across the green... golf is fun.
  21. Man, I wish I was playing today... work can eat a bag of fat ones!! A bad day at golf beats and great day at work.
  22. Years ago I played at Collier Park, Western Australia, and at the beginning of the round it looked like we might get some drizzle... by the 12th hole, the rain was coming in sideways and the flags were bending over and nearly touching the greens. My drives were almost going as far up and back as they were forward, anything over a 50% swing and you risked your club slipping out of your hands (which happened at least 5 times), my umbrella broke, and my rain jacket did nothing! From that day on I've always been very skeptical about playing during winter... but I still do...
  23. Agree with you on the wedges, they actually look decent... not sure I'd be replacing the Mack Daddy just yet though. As for the balls, I didn't mind the Kirklands. They seemed to be fairly durable and I'd be keen to try the new ones when I see them.
  24. Starting to get some random rain as it's autumn here in Australia, so headed to Xgolf for an hour. After playing a quick 18, focused on dialing in my driver. Started getting some consistent numbers and averaging around 265m, not my longest but consistent.
  25. It's amazing how different players are handling the conditions. Cantlay 6 birdies for the day, Speith 5 bogeys.
