  1. Bad weather with rain so I only played 9. Weather got into my head so 46 was the best that I could do.
  2. Only had time for 9 holes this morning. 39 with 7 on a par 5 made the score respectable but not great. Lots of deer (does and their fawns) on the course munching away on the dewy grass. They have been on the course since it was built 30 years ago. They are very tame and consider golfers as part of the scenery.
  3. Several comments caught my attention since I played a course in Fredricksburg,Virginia that did have a par 4 pre-game hole. I thought that it was a great idea at first, but it certainly added to the time required to play the round for the day. Based on this experience, our 4some suggested that this warm-up be strictly monitored for playing time. No more than 20 minutes per 4some. After the 20 minutes maximum, you must pick-up your ball and move to the 1st hole. Another requirement was the all players used a powered golf cart. The cart rental was included in the green fee price. There was a driving range also. Players were not required to hit range balls or play the warm-up hole. This sometime led to tee time confusion and definitely required additional communications between the Pro Shop and the first tee (Hole # 1) starter. By including the extra staff time required to maintain the extra hole and extra marshals to keep players adhering to their tee times, of course, the green fee costs were very high relative to other nearby courses. As an aside, this course also had a par 6, 700 yard hole on the back 9. My opinion is that all the extras, including the high green fee cost made this unique design not a feasible option for most players or courses.
  4. Surprising day with drives going straight and putts rolling in ended up with a 75. My son has an indoor driving range and trackman, which he let me use on the weekend. A few tips from him have changed my scores from mid-80s to mid-to high 70s. Even an old dog can learn a new trick or 2.
  5. Better ball striking and of course putting day resulted in a 78. More 7 to 8 over days coming, I hope.
  6. Shot 83 today. New driver with Fujiyama shaft is making a difference in distance off the tee. Just 1 birdie but putting was more difficult with faster than normal greens. The club championship finished last weekend so the greens were super fast. Once I adjusted to the speed I played a 39 on the back 9. The photo is of a golden eagle on the 1th tee fence. Rare on Vancouver Island. Zoom in if you can and you can see how huge he is…

Make it a great day, you young whippersnapper!!  😂  I’m 77 and play maybe 3 times a week except when my wife and I go on a golf trip.  Last winter we played 11 times in 14 days in Palm Springs.  This winter it’s Phoenix.  My wife is 68 and plays 4-5 times a week; I did the same when I was that age!!

  9. Thanks for the birthday wishes. 70 decades alive and 50 years of marriage. Talk about lucky. Cheers, Pat

      You are welcome.

  12. This is a difficult choice. For me, Taylormade would be my choice. Certainly Ping’s 430 Max 10k is hard to pass over but Taylormade’s irons have given me my best results.
