  1. Went to the range with my Garmin R10 to dial in the wedge game. Got a large bag of range balls and went to work. Hit 15-20 with each of my 50-54-58 wedges. Split up the shots evenly between 1/2, 3/4 and full swings. Trying to get those carry distances dialed in so I can lower scores on those shorter shots into the green. It was a really good day. The range was packed, the sun was out and the baby draws were flying high. I love going to our range and seeing all the junior clinics they put on. There had to be close to 40 youngsters on the green/chipping area and on the range. It’s awesome to see.
  2. Congrats to these guys! I've been intrigued by these putters but never known anyone who had one. Excited to read some good feedback.
  3. 12 total times at the course for me already. Usually get 18 in every Sunday and then 6-9 holes in the middle of the week at night depending on work. That number will go up a bit here in a month or 2 though. Hoping to get at least 3-4 full 18 hole rounds in a week.
  4. This is an awesome idea, having it written down makes it official and having others be able to see them makes it officially official. My goals for 2024: 1. Practice more!!! Just making the time to get out there. At the same time, being productive while I do it. Pick 2 things to work on each day and hammer those down. Monday - chipping and wedge shots. Wednesday - putting (can do at home with putting matt) Friday - irons and woods Just getting into a routine where I am able to be consistent with it. I think getting out there and doing more practice will be the difference in my game. 2. Improve short game - chip shots around the green, bunker shots and putting. Chip shots have been my enemy this past year. Really trying to improve this part of my game to reduce strokes. 3. Break 75 - I usually bounce around on tee boxes at my home course. I have had a few really good rounds from each of those tee boxes but I want to get under the 75 mark from the tips out there. That would be a huge accomplishment. And my first 2 goals would really help with that.
  5. Hey folks, first unofficial review incoming... I recently visited 2nd Swing to get the Tour Van fitting for wedges (they have 4 different types of fittings to choose from). The Tour Van fitting consists of the following: -Private setting includes no distractions -Additional time with fitters to ask questions and experiment -Instant access to thousands of clubhead and shaft combinations -More in-depth data measurements from Trackman launch monitors including swing path, angle of attack, impact location, and more -Personalization of clubs, such as stamping and color filling -Full spec sheet with all of the customization added to your equipment -Free follow-up fitting after purchase to validate results -The fitting prices vary for the Tour Van fitting but if you purchase a club after your fitting, the fitting fee is free. So for the wedge fitting, it is $200 but since I purchased wedges the fitting was free. They do have a qualifying purchase amount for it to be free but most of the items are going to cover that amount unless you are looking for one single wedge or iron. My fitter, Corey, was very knowledgeable about all of my questions and pretty much let me try whatever I wanted. The wedges I was playing and still have are Vokey SM9 that had Nippon 1150 GH Tour shafts in X flex. I felt that they were a little to stiff for my wedges and I did not want to feel like I had to go after each shot to acquire the results that I wanted. So I told Corey that I was looking for something in a stiff flex with a similar weight so that It still was comparable to my irons (ZX7 Mkii with Nippon Modus 120 X flex). I started out testing the new SM10s, the T24s, the s159s and the MG4s. After comparing all of the results from each of the models, I hit the Ping s159 the best, (I don't think you can go wrong with any of them) I kept coming back to the MG4. The raw face really intrigued me. I hit them fairly decent with the stock shaft. Most wedge fittings don't have all the different shafts that you can test like when you are getting fit for irons. TaylorMade has a pretty large amount of different lofts, bounce and grinds to choose from, as well (another reason I was interested in them). They don't have as many as the Vokeys but they are still up there with the different options. So I ended up going with a 50-standard bounce-9*, 54-standard bounce-11*, and a 58-standard bounce C grind-9*. They all have the Modus Tour 120 stiff flex shaft (no upcharge for the shaft either) I have now finally played a few rounds with the MG4s! These wedges are awesome with a capital A! The raw face is almost like very fine sandpaper and allows to put a little extra zip on the ball. I love the milled sole to help with turf interaction (it's not as good as the Tour VT sole of the Srixon irons but it is certainly up there!) The shape of the wedges is very similar to that of the SM9s that I was playing which is another reason I picked these wedges. The Ping s159 had little shorter toe area that just didn't suit my eye and the Modus 120 shaft was an upcharge shaft unlike the MG4s. The lofts and bounce allow me to very easily manipulate shots around the green from any position. The one thing I have noticed, which usually occurs with all new wedges, is the imprint of the grooves left on my ball from full swing shots. It hasn't cut through or torn my ball apart but it does leave a noticeable mark on the ball. I am excited to continue playing with these wedges to further improve my game. I will provide a further update with the performance of their irons a few weeks from now to let you know how they are a couple weeks in. One last note about 2nd Swing, they have a 30 day performance guarantee. Basically means, you get your new clubs and you have 30 days to play with them and if you aren't satisfied you can return them for a full store credit to get a new club. You are limited to one exchange per year per club type (driver, fairway wood, hybrid, iron, wedge and putter). This is a pretty sweet deal if you live near a 2nd Swing. Thanks for taking the time to read and let me know if you have any questions about the wedges or the fitting process at 2nd Swing. I'm happy to help any way that I can.
  6. I haven't hit the 245s but I have a set of 225s. They are a very nice look iron. More forgiving than one would realize also. The forged face is incredibly hot, even on mishits the ball still travels relatively close to a pure strike. I have the Nippon 1150 GH Tour X in my 225s.
  7. I usually opt for the more premium option. Like most others here, they provide me with the flight and spin needed to suit my game. I like to see the ball fly a little higher and spin just a tad more for stopping power. You might notice a small difference here and there. I think where you will see the most difference is in the wedge game and around the green.
  8. I am gaming the Callaway Ai Smoke Max 10.5* Standard/Neutral. Set to a little draw on the weight. Ventus TR Blue Velocore 7X. MCC Plus 4 Align midsize grip. Previously has the Ping G410 LST 10.5* Standard. Project X Even Flow Black 75S. MCC Plus 4 Align.
  9. I would totally be down for this. Hopefully be able to find a date and time for it to work. Maybe somewhere in the middle of the state for everyone to meet?
  10. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I started working at a driving range for a buddy. He needed someone to drive the manual shift golf cart to pick balls. This was in the summer of 2017. So this will be my 7th year of golf. I'm currently a 4.1 handicap. What do you love about golf? Golf is such a mental sport. It tests your ability to not dwell on the past and instead move forward and focus on what is next. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I've been on MyGolfSpy for awhile, using reviews and information to help guide some purchases. I'm just starting to get more into the forum part. I do not know any other Spies but hopefully will find a few in the area to play some golf with. Where are you from? What is your home course? I'm originally from Ohio and just moved to East Dallas last summer. I am currently a member at Buffalo Creek Golf Club in Rockwall, Texas. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing is that you can play golf year round here. It is really never too cold. The worst thing is that the weather is really unpredictable. The conditions of heat or rain hurt the fairways and greens and sometimes cause some difficult conditions to play in. What do you do for a living? I am in education. Trying to help young minds understand the importance of work ethic and drive. How’d you pick your user name? My username has been this ever since college. Just the nickname that has stuck with me and all my friends back home in Ohio call me by.
  11. Awesome. Thanks for the info! I will certainly be looking into this. I have the Vessel Player III right now but it's getting a little beat up. This is the best deal for a luxury bag out there.
  12. BEST 1. Srixon Z765 irons 2. Garmin Launch Monitor 3. Ping G410 LST 4. Vessell Player III DXR 5. Not really a purchase but getting fit has made a world of difference WORST 1. Regrip for clubs that get put on crooked 2. Ping Anser putter, doesn’t fit my stroke 3. Any grip other than MCC Plus 4 4. Titleist T100s - great irons just weren’t for me 5. Buying another bag of tees and then finding the bag I “lost” the day after the new ones got here
  13. How long will this bag be available for???
