  1. Had a putt on the 18th last week for a birdie to shoot my age (70), but of course I lipped it out. Yesterday, shot a 73, and had 5 good looks at birdie and didn't make one. It's lurking out there for this year, just have to put it together.
  2. By the way, there is a course in Ocala, FL (name escapes me at the moment) that has replicas of 12,13 and 16 with same set up and distances. Has holes from other courses as eell. While not the same, it did give the feel of playing those three.
  3. Haven't had this problem, as my last bags have had the velvety liner.
  4. I'm using the Project X 5.5 graphite shafts in my irons, which have been soft stepped. Had been a steel guy before getting the Sub 70s, but after discussing it with Jason the Sub. 70 owner, we came to the conclusion that this set up would be best, which it has turned out to be. I have added the Best Grip standard leather grips, and it gives me a great feel and balance.
  5. Hi, everyone, I am Randall Robbins, currently living/playing out of Middleburg, FL, which is just outside of Jacksonville. I have been playing for 58 years now, just turning 70. We get quite a few coastal showers, plus some good soak ers which will allow me to put the suit through some good conditions. Mornings can be cool and misty into May, so I might get a chance to see how the suit works in those conditions as well as when it becomes humid to see how well it breathes to not trap moisture.Additionally, after some of these rains the fairways are sloppy, so the pants will be welcome to keep my regular pants clean and dry. I will test this outfit in rainy and also wind to see how it does. Should I get a stretch where we don't get rain, then I will resort to the sprinkler/hose/shower method. Fit, looks and ability to swing comfortably will be evaluated and reported on. Finally, my current suit is a 10 year old Walter Hagen suit, so it will be interesting to compare old vs new to see what improvements have been made. Once again thanks for the chance to do this test/evaluation. Looking forward to getting started! Ok, here is a photo! The suit has arrived! Here are my first impressions after arrival. The items were shipped in a standard brown box, which , upon opening, I found both the jacket and pants to be well packaged in individual bags. Upon removing the items from the packaging I found them to be very lightweight, and with a very silky finish to the fabric. This likely will make the suit pretty quiet when in use, as I will see. The suit does appear to be very well made, with seams all sealed, and the zippers close up well. The sleeves have Velcro closures on the wrists to allow for a tight fit and keep the elements out. The jacket zipper even has 2 Velcro closures to further help seal it. The jacket has a pair of slash pockets, and one chest pocket, all zippered. The pants have 2 slash pockets and a watch pocket, plus a two button fastening system - one button on the outside, as normal, and a button on the inside as well. They also have belt loops to be allowed to wear as regular pants., I slipped on both items and found the pants to be well fitting and lightweight as I said before. I noticed that since they are made to your waist size, they fit precisely, but if you put them on over your pants, you would have to remove the belt, otherwise you can't button the pants. They will button if your pants underneath do not have a belt; of course, you can order a size up to accommodate wearing pants underneath with a belt. I found the jacket to be a little snug, even being an XL. However, since these are made with 10% spandex, they do flex a bit and would allow for you to still make good swings. Don't think I could wear this if the day was cool and I had on a sweater or vest. But, to be fair, I would likely take off the sweater, since the jacket with it's lining tends to keep me quite warm. That is my initial impression, will report more this next week, as it is supposed to rain on Monday, so I hopefully will get immediate performance data. 4/22/24 Ok, no rain as predicted, but it was a cool (56 degrees) damp and slightly breezy morning, so it was a good chance to see how the jacket performs both as a windbreaker and under playing conditions. As far as working as a windbreaker, it was great! Couldn't feel any effects of wind, no chill, nothing. Kept me warm until temps rose and I took it off. I can see that in cooler weather, if I wore just my thermal shirt under the jacket, as I would be extremely warm. The jacket moved very well with me, allowing for a full swing with no restrictions. Also, I found it to be virtually noise less as I made swings or moved around. Next I intend to wear the pants as golf pants on Wednesday to see how comfortable they are and how they perform. Stay tuned! 4/25/2024: Wore the pants just as regular golf pants, and they were great! Can't believe the comfort, quietness of the fabric, and the overall quality of the pants. The pockets are very deep, but easy to get in and out of for tees, markers and my scorecard holder. My playing partner was impressed with the look and feel of the fabric. The cloth does breathe very well, as it was a sunny day with temperatures in the mid seventies, but I never felt hot in the pants even though I sweat a lot - on days like this, with the vinyl seats on the cart, my pants will be soaked. In this case, only my underwear was damp, but not uncomfortable. One other aspect of the pants and greatly appreciated was that they have a zipper front. This of course is quite handy when nature calls, as it will with as much liquid as I drink during a round. At least you don't have to pull them down like other rain pants I've had in the past. Just wanted to mention that after the last pictures were taken, I went in the yard with the sprinklers on to get a quick read on how they reacted to a quick shower. The water beaded up well, and I was very dry. Good first check, but I really want some rain! (Never thought that I would ever say that)
  6. Agree with the fitting question posed by Java - if not, then you can have a local pro evaluate your game with monitors etc and get info that can help you with decisions as to length, shafts and other tweaks you might want/need to make.
  7. When I get to you, my senior league will let me move up a set of tees, but not until then.
  8. Thanks everyone unfortunately, now I'm no longer Sub 70 in age, just in clubs - although, it will make a shot easier to shoot my age this year! Lol
  9. Nope, or at least the one I had, is Bobby Jones in 1902.
  10. I did happen to know that one - what golfer's birthday was on St. Patrick's Day?
  11. Date 03/20/2024 Course Name Bent Creek GC Gross Score 71 Course Handicap 4 Gross Strokes over/under par 0 Net Score to Par -4 Net Score 67 Net Birdies or better Longest Drive SIM Round Nothing going on with round until #11, when I made a good save for par, hen it clicked to get me the natural birdie ( net eagle) on 15, followed by another birdie on 16. Just missed on one or two more, but couldn't get it done. Got rained out on Friday, so couldn't try to do better.
  12. I noticed a bit of a drop off in velocity and then roll out, but it took the ball getting to 50 holes before that happened.
  13. Wilson, for sure and don't forget the new version of Ben Hogan, which refuses to go away. Tour Edge has become a bigger player, and I think Sub 70 and New Level will get to that point as well. One brand that a club maker friend of mine pushes is Tom Wishon - I've hit a couple of their clubs and they are very good.
  14. Florida courses, like Denny's, are always open - but as an aside, when I lived in Illinois Missouri and North Carolina, the courses were only closed if there was snow covering the course or it was below freezing, so I was still playing a couple of rounds every month usually.
  15. I still have 2 full sleeves of each, plus a couple of them that have 60+ holes on them - I even have 2 of the AVX left from the last test.
  16. The truth is Lions only win the game on a catch able pass that Toney tips and gets returned. He did it again later in the year, so he has a bad case of skillet paws ( turn out the light, see the sparks). In that situation pass likely goes to Kelce. However, final word on this is back to back and once the Lions ever get there, then it's time to talk. As some told me " if you want to be them, then you have to be better than them. We'll see how it pans out come next January.
  17. No, but a reliable pass catcher who would have changed the way the defense played against the Chiefs.
  18. Boy, I had to really think about this! Set of Northwestern junior irons Taylor Made Technician Ping Eye 2 Ben Hogan Edge Wilson Fat Shaft Cleveland 588s Hogan Apex Hireko Prophet - actually, had 2 sets of these Sub 70 639 I think that's enough!
  19. And in that case Travis K and C Jones will BOTH be playing and not out.....
