    Ping I crossover 2 iron-
I recently got fitted for a new set of irons and after reading the MGS UDI post I decided to give a driving iron a try. I tried many of the models but hated the look at address and the hybrid feel they gave. So, I went with the Ping…and man am I in love with this club!!

I have struggled with my driver for years after a nasty helicopter crash, I just can’t rotate after being put back together. So, I have been using my 3 wood a lot. The 3 isn’t as long obviously, but when I miss with a driver it’s “hitting 3” territory almost 25% of the time. I’m great with my long irons and have reached the point where I would rather have a 200 yard shot at the green than risk a driver on a narrow fairway for a wedge. The 2 iron is the perfect fit. Trying to limit doubles completely to get back to scratch.

I tested it at dusk on the course by hitting 10 balls each from a tee box with the driving iron, 3 wood, and driver. The driving iron had 10 playable balls, 2 in the rough, but I didn’t lose a single shot. The 3 wood had two that were gone and 3 for the driver. I also tried with a 3 hybrid and found all 10, but I gained A LOT more roll with the 2. I was getting around 250-255 total with it set at 1 up and 1 strong. I have played two rounds with it and while I can’t use it all the time, my home course is 7500+ yards and a 77.5/152, it has already shaved 1/2 a stroke off my handicap. It is super forgiving… I actually stopped teeing it up since my miss is more heel than toe and it’s not very “tall” in that area so I hit it too high to not get robbed on distance. I hope that makes sense. I play on zoysia, so it’s like being on a tee anyways.

My irons should be in tomorrow and can’t wait to give them a try.
