Dead Solid Bogey

Finally finished with the fantasy world at corporate headquarters. The financial group is planning some very ambitious, aggressive, an at the very least some sketchy business revenue modeling. Just couldn’t bring myself to try and explain that this is why that groups c-suite are so young. That something like this was tried about 7 years ago with the outcome being that most of the former c-suites now being forcibly retired and being the occupants at an all inclusive resort in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Headed back to my domicile of indentured marital bliss. Not looking forward to explaining to the female high mucky-muck that my new employtant contract is not exactly what she had wanted or had in mind. Trying to keep my eye on the prize of golf tomorrow. Just have to dodge whatever slings and arrows that will be directed at me by my beloved after explaining my new work contract…. Pray for me.

Well… If laughter is the best medicine, you should have a full recovery soon.

My fellow spies… It is Wednesday, the day we start wandering out of the wilderness of the work week towards the salvation that Saturday and Sunday seemingly offers. Survived yesterday’s management mind numbing meetings…..Spent the day in different settings with different numbers to discuss the same thing “ Decision Making “ the how’s, why’s , who’s, and outcomes. My spill was twofold.. One; that different parties will see the outcome of the decision made, well… differently ( Not exactly rocket science ). Secondly, there will probably be those who will silently chafe if not outright engage in rebelling at said decision.. One more day in the corporate community, today is with the marketing and financial bigwigs… Should be interesting but definitely not fun. This group is very young.. Within the last decade the most serious issue facing them was who to take to PROM. Be good to each other and to yourself.

Tuesday is here my fellow spies, meaning that thankfully Monday is gone… My career planing review is over with.The negatives…First the biggest one, corporate is on boarding a bunch of new out of the box engineers and technicians, meaning NO retirement package was in the offing for me . Secondly I got reprimanded for not adhering to corporate culture ( aka. Doesn’t play well with others ). The positives…Kept the current “employtant” contract with more than decent increases in the different levels of compensation. Despite the desires and wishes of she who would rule the world, NO international assignments. Finally, when asked for future career plans; I stated the same as always… To just see another sunrise and to be left alone as much as possible by corporate. Have only another day or so having to deal with c-suite’s . Having multilevel management meetings ( playdates) today. Looking forward to an abundance of golf this weekend as a sanctuary from those who pay my wages and the “she” who rules my life… May today be the best Tuesday you and yours have ever had…

It’s Monday, yuck Monday. Make of it as you will. No golf for me for a few days. First on the personal relationship front; Yay me!!! Got a reprieve and pardon from “ Husband Death Row “ by the supreme ruler of the family unit. Evidently the director of the charity and the wife person are friends/ acquaintances. According to the director, Holly, she attributes the increase in donations at their golf/auction event at least in part due to my theatrics. So… the leader of our pack is setting me free. Decided not to push it and get any attaboys as I still don’t know or remember who Holly is, the name of the charity, or what they do. Preparing to head off to corporate headquarters for my career pathing review ( aka. What do you want to be when you grow up ). Strange part is the Household Highness has just strongly suggested that if offered again this year that I at least consider the position of the on site International Hazardous Troubleshooting team leader. She then kissed my cheek, smiled, and left the room while uttering “ Safe Travels”….. Yeah right. As you start your week my spies, may I advise that you never allow family, work, or third parties define the metrics to be used in life…. Could very well hamper your desired outcome. Those that get to play golf today… Enjoy and play on your own terms.

Thanks, that is a great boost in helping me decide between the Indie’s and the Edison’s…. Now all I have to do is hope the spousal power on high agrees with my appeal and cancels her financial judgment she enacted against me.

For those few of us that have a significant attention deficit issue compounded by a very probable impending huge reduction in husband allowance ( due to certain recent behavioral actions )……. Who of the testers would BUY Indie wedges if they were replacing their current wedges? Thanks for doing the testing.

It is the Sunday my spies…. Time to regroup and finish weekend antics and prepare to have to once again engage in “ adulting “ come the morn. Believe it was a great golf outing yesterday… Still getting bits and pieces of a debriefing from the seemingly perturbed royal female of the household….. So far, all I have been told is that I had to be stopped from buying a commercial frozen Margarita machine at the charity auction after golf. The female boss has so far said she can’t figure out why I would have wanted to buy the machine after I had obviously drank it dry. It has been further established that said machine was at a strategic spot on the course. Additional information is that the charity sponsors forgot to bring enough tequila and supplemented with ever clear grain alcohol. This is probably why so many participants were falling out of their golf carts or engaged in so erratic cart driving. My elegant elitist leader did say that the charity raised an all time high in funds. Will probably spend the rest of the day finding out the answers to the following questions…. 1) What was the name of the charity and what do they do? 2) Am I in any legal jeopardy? 3) Most importantly how did I play. No matter the answers to those questions. If need be, I will be going with a defense that I have illustrated below. Be good to each other, especially those of us who might very well be in dire straits in the near future.

Yeppers…. I occasionally have to remind myself that I play golf because it is fun. Not because I am any good at it.

Good Saturday morning my spies… Saturday is the Homecoming Queen of the week…. Get out there and enjoy. I am playing in a really fun format today. This will be purely social golf with 6 players to a group. Will probably take around 6 hours to play the round. There will be plenty of food and liquor based libations before, during, and after the golf. Make this Saturday yours…Go ahead and get out of pocket and twist off, either with or without golf being involved. Just be sure you have one semi-sane minder in your group.

I will be pleasantly surprised if I finish todays outing in less than 6 hrs…. Playing in an extremely “ social “ format with 6 players per group. As I age, the time I am on the course doesn’t matter as much as if I am having fun and enjoying myself does…

Tuesday and Thursday mornings are usually reserved 3 out of 4 weeks in a month for the extremely aged, infirmed, beginners, or others possibly needing extra time. I try to play with some of the extremely challenged a couple of times a month. Does a couple of things for me; good reminder and humbles me to face how fortunate I am to be in rather good physical shape for my advanced age. Secondly, figure trying to be of aid to others a couple of times a month makes up for an equalizes my being a jerk the other 28 days ( my math, my rules ).

It’s Friday my spies…. All that needs to be said for Friday is that it is Friday. At times yesterday’ I played like I knew what I was doing, not often, but at least occasionally. The Association of Ancient Agers managed to get the single play edict removed. We have to sign a release form if we play as a single. This seems to have something to do with the vermin infestation we are supposedly having. That part of last night’s meeting was postponed as the expert that was slated to speak could not make it. Hope golf is a major part of your day, just beware of any elderly you encounter. They probably can’t remember where they have been, done, or touched.

Harkening back to yesteryear…. Played a course north of the Red river that was very strange in that the rough was better than the fairways, and the fairways better than the greens. To be fair the sand greens made for excellent bunkers and traps..

The community call screener is still to hard for some of us ( ) to get past ( probably a good thing ) to be able to join the call…. Can those of us on the outside and unable to partake get the Cliff’s Notes of today’s call or is this on a need to know basis?

It is Thursday my spies… Thursday is Friday’s Step Sibling, wants to be like Friday but just can’t pull it off. Busy next couple of days, with lots on my plate. Meeting tonight about the invasive creature(s) invading the course along with a review and possible update on single play rule(s). Will have a quick meeting of the militant senior citizen group before the full meeting. I really need to remember to turn on my company computer or phone more than once a week. I am evidently having my annual review for my career pathing on Monday and for some reason I am suppose to be there in person. If I can get lucky and get called for a random drug test ( been hoping for one of these ever since I hired on ) before the review, then I will probably not have to worry about the review and instead just start the “forced early retirement” paperwork. Need to work in a minimum of a few hours of golf before this coming weekend tournament. Most of all, I need to concentrate on continuing to “ duck and cover “ whenever my totalitarian but supposedly benign female ruler calls or comes looking for me. Have a pleasant day my fellow spies, but pace yourself, the weekend is coming.

Sorry… really late with this, but I am going to use the excuse that I am really old and easily confused by time. It is Wednesday my spies, Wednesday is like a middle child, you never know what you will get…. Tuesday was the first day of NO individual play on my home course. My Ancient Ager threesome had a member on the college team added to our group. The “ kid “ hit from the tees further back from ours and still spent the round “air mailing” us oldsters. We were able to garner a little revenge in rattling the young one’s game by ruining their tempo and rhythm by having to take two or three shots to their one.. Was still quite depressing to be shown how weak and puny our distance yardage has gotten in senior citizen-hood. That said, that young woman from the college team beat us all like red-headed step children in every facet of the game, not just in shot yardage…. Us Ancient Agers, were certainly shown that we need to stay in our own lane and with our own kind. Enjoy your day, what is left of it…

Yeppers; seems that geology wasn’t or couldn’t be a consideration when building some courses. However, I a starting to believe that the young golf pro and staff at our club are trying to cull the senior citizen golfer group by inducing a stroke from trying to get a tee into the ground…. I would almost be willing to swear that South Texas caliche is harder than concrete or cement.

Broke my switchblade screwdriver trying to make a hole for a tee on one of the senior tee boxes. Next stop on the way home is the Hardware store to buy a small but POWERFUL drill… I will not be deterred by the senior citizen concrete tee boxes.

I saw and met the so-called ninja cousin of @Yellow Ball The she/he was easy going and tried really hard to blend in. It hurt my heart to have to explain that we have not had anything Green in South Texas, except for the occasional crayon for quite awhile now. Heck, our money has even turned a sickly beige. Greenie started to slice away, but when I shouted out after them and said to be sure to come back for the 1 1/2 days during the first week of February when we had Green vegetation, Yellow’s cousin hooked back around smiled and said; “ Thanks, they would try and make it.”

MacGregor has a special place in my bias. First clubs in my bag. They were the only clubs in my bag for over a quarter century. Would give them a real hard look again if they became in my opinion viable in today’s market place of options. To @Preeway point, I have looked at some niche DTC outfits, possibly pulling the trigger on one of these outfits for wedges fairly soon…

It is Tuesday my friends… Tuesday’s claim to fame is that it isn’t Monday. Speaking of Monday; I had to quit after two holes on Monday. Could never figure out how to hold the golf club while wearing snow mittens. As bad as it was on the course, after calling a halt to my round it was as bad or worst while I was attempting to drown my sorrows and engage in hydration at the same time. It was nearly impossible to drink with those snow mittens on. I should have never let the wife tape them on. Well it’s a new day and day one of NO single individual play allowed. Will be interesting to see who ends up playing with who…..Not a fan of these cutesy posters that are up in the pro shop and locker room. May your day be like a 3 inch putt.. A gimme.

Man, oh man, do I ever envy you and your Bloody Mary starter kit. A couple of years ago our club staff went through an almost complete turnover. Almost all of the new staff including the manager are now female. Myself and the other Ancient Agers went from having zero female supervision and Double Bloody Maria’s to start the round, to being told that we indeed did have female SUPERVISION and are now limited to Virgin Maria’s, even sans, celery salt. I can’t prove it, but I believe the regal one that I serve had something to do with the supervision. Enjoy my young friend, enjoy.
