  1. Good morning spies! My weekend getaway to Asheville, NC has come to an end. It was a great weekend reuniting with friends. Sad to be leaving but also glad to be returning to my wife and dog back home this evening. Started my morning with a sauna session to sweat out a lot of the toxins ingested this weekend. Great way to start the day and definitely need a home sauna in my future home! Headed back to Charlotte before I fly out later this afternoon. We’re hitting up TopGolf shortly, which should be fun. If I was staying later, I definitely would’ve considered buying a Sunday ticket to the Wells Fargo, but unfortunately couldn’t make it work. Hope everyone has a great rest of their Sunday! If you’re lucky enough to be golfing, hit ‘em straight!
  2. Good afternoon spies! Been a busy day so didn’t get a chance to pop on earlier. Started the morning with a hike in the mountains. Headed to some breweries in Asheville shortly for some beverages and food. It’s been a great weekend so far and sad it’s coming to an end soon. I hope everyone has a great rest of their Saturday!
  3. Not currently on the agenda but we shall see!
  4. Good morning all! Currently relaxing in our mountain Airbnb somewhere near Asheville, North Carolina. This place has it all: hot tub, movie theatre, sauna, arcade and more. I started my morning with some time in the sauna to sweat out the alcohol consumed last night while watching the NBA playoffs in the movie theatre. No real plans on the agenda today. Should be pretty lowkey as we get settled in for the weekend. Hope everyone has a great Friday!
  5. Good early morning spies! Up long before the sun today to catch a flight to North Carolina for my buddy’s bachelor party. Should be a fun weekend to reunite with some old friends. Tempted to stay late on Sunday and buy a ticket to the Wells Fargo! Hit up the sim last night and was hitting the ball much better. Bummer that I’m not golfing this weekend, but I’ll survive. Will have to live vicariously through my fellow spies who are lucky enough to be on the course this weekend. Glad to be off work for a couple days as well after a busy start to the week. Out of office is on and it’s time for a stress-free long weekend! Safe to say I’ll probably miss the community call this afternoon once again. Hope everyone has a great Thursday!
  6. Good morning Spies! Another nice day in Chicago and I have gotten through the worst of my busy work week. Should be a relatively chill day as I prepare to fly out to North Carolina tomorrow morning. Always nice when your Wednesday turns into a Friday! Was able to hit the range last night after work. Have some new feels I'm working on, which seem to be taking hold for the most part. Supposed to go to the sim this evening to get some more practice in. @RichL85 I'm very sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Sending positive thoughts to you and your family during this difficult time. @Billy The Kid Rogers and @shady 101 welcome to the madhouse! Enjoy your stay, but don't look the inmates directly in the eye... Hope everyone has a great Hump Day!
  7. As you mentioned, in Scotland and other parts of the world, they've done a great job encouraging quicker pace of play. I was mostly talking about public courses in America. But yes, there are plenty of other factors causing these slowdowns than just stacked tee sheets
  8. Great work on the article, @Josh Parker. Longer rounds have definitely become the norm in recent years. I do think a part of it is public courses stacking their tee sheets like major airlines stack seats. However, there are some common sense things that the average player can do to help speed up play, which you explained very well in your article. I'm happy nowadays to get a 4.5 hour round in, which seems preposterous. Couple that with usually an hour+ commute to and from the golf course and my day has practically vanished. Hopefully some people can take note and understand that it benefits everyone when you play ready golf and it doesn't have to take away from the experience whatsoever.
  9. Good morning all! A warmer day in Chicago today, with some thunderstorms creeping in this morning and early afternoon. Weather app says it should clear by 5pm or so, which I'm hoping is true so I can sneak out to the range after work. Congrats to those selected for both the Vokey wedge test and the Stix Golf test! Looking forward to following your journey and learning more about how this equipment can benefit your game. Another busy day at work today, but should be calmer starting tomorrow (helps that I'm skipping town Thursday morning!) I hope that everyone has a terrific Tuesday!
  10. Congrats testers! Looking forward to following this one
  11. Haven't actually tried them out yet, but I'll let you know once I do!
  12. My favorite race of the season so far! Very happy for Lando, it was a long time coming
  13. Good morning spies! Back to the grindstone today after a fun weekend. Was able to get to the range yesterday for some practice. We also went to an F1 bar with some friends to watch the Miami race. One of the best ones this year if I do say so myself! Busy start to the week with work stuff, but off Thursday/Friday as I'm traveling to Asheville, NC for a buddy's bachelor party. Just have to survive the next few days and ride off into the sunset. Hoping to get some range or sim practice in this week before I head out. Have a new swing thought I'd like to get some reps with. Have a great start to your week, all!
  14. Good morning Spies! A cooler day in Chicago as some rain and thunderstorms moved through the area last night. I'm definitely glad I got a round in yesterday versus today. Celebrated Cinco de Mayo a day early with dinner and margaritas and our favorite local Mexican restaurant last night. Finished the evening with some drinks at home watching a movie. Hoping to hit up the driving range this morning to continue to work on some feels I was having success with yesterday. My swing is definitely trending in the right direction as we get closer to peak golf season. Headed to an F1 bar this afternoon to watch the Miami race with my wife and some friends. Should be a fun time. Hope everyone has a great, relaxing Sunday!
  15. Played another round with the Mindset ball today. I've mentioned above that I really like using it on tee shots. It helps ensure that my alignment is accurate and I can focus on just making clean contact with the green dot in mind. I've started using it more on lag putts as well and have found a similar benefit. Those putts are more about feel and speed than staying on the right line and I believe using the Mindset in those situations helps me. I'm able to block out external factors and just focus on having good speed and making good contact with the green dot. Where has the Mindset helped you the most on the course?
  16. Played Ravisloe Country Club south of Chicago today. Beautiful Donald Ross course that I've played a few times. They've recently raised their prices, so we don't play there as much as we used to. Course was in beautiful shape and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Mid 70s and sunny with a light breeze. Ended up shooting 84 (41-43), which I was pretty happy with. Had three double bogeys and a few three-putts that I wish I could have back. I was driving the ball great, but just kept making some silly mistakes on some approach shots. Always smarter to play safe than go for the hero shot. Had a new driver shaft in play today and it's definitely an upgrade over my last one. Love the feel and the forgiveness I was seeing. Also had a new 2-iron in the bag that I hit on the short par four 18th absolutely perfect. It was the type of shot that makes you want to come back the next day for more. Pretty happy with my ball striking overall and can definitely tell that my game is headed in the right direction. Have some big golf trips planned in June so hoping I can keep improving as the year goes on. Until next round!
  17. Good morning all! Headed to an early tee time this morning. Weather looking pretty ideal, with temps approaching 70. New driver shaft and 2-iron in play today, so I'm very excited to see how they perform. No other real plans on the agenda for the rest of the day. Laying low at home and enjoying the weekend. Hope everyone has a great day!
  18. Always been a big fan of Oak Hill's logo!
  19. I continue to be blessed by my buddy who works in the golf industry. He has sent me many products for free or insanely cheap in the past and this most recent shipment might be the best yet. A few weeks ago he sent me a picture of a Titleist U505 2-iron and asked if I'd be interested. I said absolutely without having to think twice. I currently have a G425 Crossover 2-iron in the bag, but I wasn't in love with it. Shaft was slightly too stiff for me and I didn't love the look at address. Meanwhile this U505 looks beautiful and has a Graphite Design Tour AD DI-85S shaft in it. I recently got a new 3-wood with a red Ventus Velocore shaft in it and it's been my new favorite club. I told him to keep an eye out for a Ventus blue driver shaft because if I'm hitting my 3-wood this good, I can only imagine it would help my driving too, right?! Long story short he found one, threw a ping tip on it and sent it out with the 2-iron above. The box arrived yesterday and I was very excited to get my hands on the new 2-iron and driver shaft. Then to my surprise, I opened the box and saw a bunch more extra gifts! He threw in a dozen golf balls including the new Callaway Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X balls, as well as some TaylorMade TP5s. He also included two brand new Titleist Players gloves in my size, a Titleist hat and last but definitely not least... a Greyson polo in my size. I'm over the moon and it feels like Christmas morning with all these new toys. Super excited to put the new driver shaft and 2-iron into play this weekend. Hoping they provide me with the results I'm expecting!
  20. Good morning Spies and happy Friday! First trip to the office yesterday was a success. Was nice to see everyone in person and hear from our executives on the strategy for the company going forward. Had a very fun happy hour with an open bar afterwards. Luckily woke up this morning feeling just fine (not always the case after such events). I got home last night to find a golf club shaped box had arrived. My buddy was hooking me up with a new driver shaft and a new 2-iron. To my surprise, he included some other goodies as well. Will post in the CHA thread shortly! Hoping for a relatively easy day and a fast forward to the weekend. Golf on the agenda tomorrow morning and weather is looking very solid. @StrokerAce @Erin B @Dead Solid Bogey you are all in my thoughts as you battle these health issues. You have a large community behind you rooting for you and your families to hear some good news soon. @Michael.Sandoval33 happy belated birthday! I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday. If you're lucky enough to be golfing, hit 'em straight!
  21. Good morning Spies! Headed to the office in-person for the first time since starting this job early last year. Will be fun to see coworkers outside of a computer screen for once. Happy hour after work as well at a nearby watering hole. Unfortunately this means I'll miss the community call this afternoon. I also had a sim session booked this evening with a buddy of mine, which I'll miss as well. This whole commuting-into-the-office life is tough work! On the plus side, there's another great test announced this morning for the Takomo Long Game Clubs! I've heard great things about their UDI, so I'm looking forward to following that thread. Best of luck to everyone applying! Weather looking mighty fine today. Hope everyone has a great day!
  22. Very interesting. I might look into this and try it out sometime!
  23. Good morning Spies! Beautiful day in Chicago and the forum is buzzing! Love settling into my morning routine with some coffee and catching up on the threads. Went to the driving range after work last night and it was the best session I've had in quite some time. Have a new feel that's really working for me and I'm hoping it'll translate to the course this weekend! @rkj427 congrats on the retirement! Enjoy the downtime and more room for golf on the to-do list! @IndyBonzo not sure if you have decided yet for your L.A.B. name, but that picture screams "Daredevil" to me! Work starting to pick up for the rest of the week. Hoping that staying busy will make the weekend come faster! Have a great Hump Day all!
  24. @Clayton awesome setup. It's a dream of mine to get something similar down the road when we have more space. Thanks for sharing!
  25. Good morning Spies! Weather in Chicago today looking great, with temps approaching 70. Hoping to get out to either the range or the simulator after work to get some practice. Unfortunately I cut my right middle finger last night as I was attempting to clean one of our knives. No serious damage, but it's definitely going to take some TLC over the next few days to properly heal. Props to whoever got us these knives off our wedding registry; they sure are sharp! Hoping I can still swing a club in the meantime... @sirchunksalot sorry to hear about the car troubles. Hopefully you can figure something out that doesn't result in a huge payment. Work should be fairly chill today before we kick into April close tomorrow. Going to enjoy the calmness while I can. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!
