  1. Very timely question. Have been a GolfLogix user since 2011, yes pre smart watches. Garmin Golf Watch from wife battery would not last a round. Then Garmin Vivo better but no fall detection, so wife and I are both Apple Watch users for 5 years. My wife had not worn a watch in over 25 years, loves her Apple Watch. No going back. As a 73 year old 18+ handicap, just need front middle and back. GolfLogix has recently updated the Watch interface. Can get front middle back, but no longer see the illustration of what lies ahead, just green breaks. Killed off legacy view. I will be testing either Swing U or GolfShot on tomorrow’s round. So disappointed, on Cart Path Only days, not carrying the phone across fairway, one less thing to think about. Look at Watch, there are the distances, the lay of the land, but alas no more.
  2. Fitter is best recommendation. Personally I like the discontinued UST Recoil. Have one in my @ClevelandGolfSrixon UHX 20* 3i. For a few years, so when I decided to go graphite irons after years of steel, went Launcher XL. Low to mid ball flight which I prefer, low dispersion. It is all what works for you.
  3. I am 73 years old, play on weekday mornings at semi private course, very open to the public. We are old, we have good days and bad days. We do not need a golf ball to the head. Be patient, we play ready golf, we get around in allotted time. Repair ball marks and divots. It’s a game, enjoy!
  4. I always ask if player wants advice. Playing munis encounter players of all levels. I have a wealth of knowledge, honestly acquired, of what not to do. Nothing more enjoyable than helping that father & son with a tip.
  5. Ill informed Rangers. Us foursome, nothing but foursomes in front twosomes behind. Waited on first 7 tees, teeing off on par 5 9th a shot out of sequence, told to speed up, then had to wait on 10. Hitting into people. On 16, hit into woods, came out with my ball, plunk 15 yard from me group behind tee shot. Not filling divots, repairing ball marks.
  6. Televised professional golf is dying on the vine. It is their tournament, an exclusive membership inviting who it wants. Are sponsors chaffing? Would be surprised if we hear. Imagine if ANGC let Masters coverage out for bid. Or CBS let contract lapse. ANGC will do what’s in their best interests. There are 2 Open championships that provide fairness and meritocracy.
  7. Played Cleveland irons for almost 25 years, third set, just work. Tinkered with wedges for years below the Dual wedge, Cleveland’s Attack wedge. Loved Vokey 58*, but had trouble gapping. Then went all Cleveland, currently 48*, 50*, 54* CBX ZipCore like the wider soles, 58* RTX ZipCore, knives through compacted sand on local course. Local corse has various green elevations many variables in height and rollout. On flatter courses not so much need.
  8. 2 woods: Driver 3w 7 irons: 3 - 9 4 wedges: 46, 50, 54, 58 1 Putter
  9. Golf is a game of skill, mental and physical, played in and on common elements. Skills are improved by practice and knowledge, not purchase. Handicaps were invented to level the playing field. The joy of golf is playing by the same rules. Have played this game for 60 years. It is a game, enjoy it! It is life. You control the outcome. Yes, I am old, do not play out of divots, rocks or tree stumps, nor keep a handicap, nor compete. Just between me and my golf gods.
  10. Things that work for me Club up. Sometimes 2. Learn to pick the ball, do not take a divot, turf is firmer, less forgiving. Swing easy, it’s cold, you are cold, your equipment is cold. Wear lightweight yet cold beating layers. Especially wind breaking materials, water repellent materials. I carry runners long pants, lightweight stops wind. Lower your expectations, results will rise. Yes, gloves on both hands, regular, rain, winter, mittens. Mix and match. Warm up as close to tee time, body cools off quicker in cold. Know what gets you cold. Myself must keep wind off neck and chest. Stay hydrated, equal amounts of coffee and water. Enjoy, beating the weather is part of beating the course.
  11. As my old boss would say, both. Hitting into a net with mat is great to work on timing, keeping loose. On grass range can visualize the shot, execute the shot, watch the results, commit to memory. Many an instructor recommends edges of ranges for variance in lies, feet placement.
  12. Personally, I play steel wedge shafts in wedges. Also prefer heavier club head wedge. CBX ZipCore 46, 50, 54, RTX 58. Like to feel the club head especially as leading edge slides under ball while brushing the turf. Less wear and tear on 72 year old wrists and elbows.
