  1. Its for sure does good for the mental aspect. It feel amazing breaking 100 and 90 in the same round. Lol but when you do move back a tee, just remeber, its not all gonna be roses, so dont let it discourage you.
  2. Found the Callaway ERC Soft towards the end of the 2023 season, and fell in love with it. it gave me extra distance, feels great off the face, and if I hit it correctly, checks up on the green nice for me. 40 bucks a dozen is close to my top limit for balls as i tend to lose a few here and there, but right or wrong, I love this ball!! My buddy and i spent the better part of the 2023 season testing balls and i quit after finding this ball. Pro v's and other tour balls do not belong in my bag as I dont have the skill set to hit them well, or atleast they dont perform the best with my swing.
  3. Goals for 2024: Lower my hadicapp. Sitting at a 26.8 got about 30 rounds in since I picked the game back up in mid 2022. Limit my 3+ putts Learn to hit a draw Break 100 consistently met new golfing buddies while playing in the Heart of A Lion Am Tour
  4. Play a tee forward. I am not sure where you tee from, but I experimented with it this past season. I have a regular golfing buddy that I play with. We would get out 2 to 3 times per week until he got a new job and my wife and I opened a 2nd store. We played form the whites since he was a 8 hdc and i was a 28 at the time. My buddy started his new job and I started playing by myself. I chose to move up to the senior tees until i could consistently break 100. I shot 94, 89, and 84 from the seniors. moved back to whites, and stay right at around 101-104 depending on the course. tee it forward and learn what it feels like to score better and better things will happen.
  5. I absolutly love this colab. I am a huge fan of ShotScope. I currently use the H4 (should've held out for a few more months since the X5 came out not long after i bought the H4) for my rounds. I love all the data it gives me, I am a numbers guy. I usually spend an hour or so after each round doing my edits and looking at all the places I could have scored better.
  6. How do i handle a bad shot, a bad series of shots, or a bad round. I just go out and play another round...lol As a 26.8 hdc, i cant get real mad or overly frustrated. so many times, I've stepped up to my 2nd shot in the trees and had to laugh off the tree kick. Or I drill a 3 wood 25 yards and then go hit the same club and nail a beautiful looking shot, so maybe now i can get bogey instead of double...lol Its just a game. I am competitive as it gets, but golf is different. I dont golf with anyone I can beat, just the way it works out. my skill level is not to the people i play with, and I try to stay upbeat as possible so i dont ruin their rounds. Just can't let it kill your whole round or week of rounds. even the pros screw the pooch sometimes...lol
  7. I pretty much bought a whole new setup in 2023. Father's Day 2022, I bought myself a starter set, TopFlite XL and played 4 rounds with them, mainly to see if i wanted to continue with golf. I knew i was going to continue, but it made the wife happy not spending money on clubs (250$). 2023, I bought a new bag, white Maxfli stand bag (loved a Callaway bag, but wasnt sure I would end up with Callaway clubs...lol.) Bought a new to me Epic Speed driver off Facebook. Purchaed a Epic Speed 3 wood, Odyessey Stroke Lab 1 putter from Golf Galaxy. Ordered a set of Callaway Mavrik Max irons (5I-GW) from Carl's Golfland, and late 2023 i picked up a Mavrik 3H so i could finally get rid of the TopFlite 4H. I also purchsed and love my ShotScope H4, would have went with the X5, but i ordered like a month too soon...lol best purchase of the year was the Callaway ERC Soft 360 fade. I've tried tons of balls, cheap balls, expensive balls, DTC balls. the best of the bunch for me and my swing were the ERC Soft. They gave me the most distance off the tee and from irons. I'm a 26.8 hdc, so my green play is not the best right now, and I can actually get them to check up on the green, providing i hit the ball correctly.
  8. How long have you been playing golf? I played a few times a year with my dad growing up, but pretty much didnt touch a club from age 21 until i turned 44. I had a massive heart attack 4 yrs ago, 1 day before my 42nd bday and i kept trying to get out to play a round with my dad and his buddies, but as a small buisness owner, life got in the way. Jan 31st 2022, my heart stopped on the way home totalled my care, tore my retna, and 4 days later my dad passed away in what i can only describe as the plot to a Lifetime Network movie. may of 2022, i went golfing with ym dads best friend, and caught the golf bug. Bought myself a set of Topflight clubs so i could go play and see if it was something i wanted to do. july of 2022, i bought 3 drivers, a 3 wood, a putter and 60 Deg wedge, which i promptly traded in on a driver. I have also signed up for the Heart of A Lion AmTour this year. my bag consists of Callaway Epic Speed 9 deg driver set to 11 deg with a draw bias, Hzrdus smoke im10 60g 6,5 shaft Callaway Epic Speed 3 wood project x cypher Fifty 5.0 shaft Callaway Mavrik Max 3H project x catalyst 65 5.5 shaft Callaway Mavrik Max irons 5i-GW kbs r80 shafts, and a 20x/x20 (not sure on the correct 1) SW Odyessey Stroke Lab 1 blade putter Callaway ERC Soft 260 Fade ball I also use the ShotScope H4 for my club data and GPS What’s your handicap or normal score? According to ShotScope data I am currently a 26.8 handicapp. Normal scores are 101. I have shot 89, 94, and 85 from the senior tees What do you love about golf? I love the solitude of it. I love being the first tee time of the day and not feeling rushed or feel like im rushing/ruining someone elses round. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I was looking for a forum type setup, or something i haven't found on Facebook, Youtube, or Reddit Where are you from? What is your home course? I am from the Quad City area. Grew up in Bettendorf Iowa, and currently reside in Long Grove Iowa. My home course is Glynns Creek in Long Grove Iowa. a nice 4 min drive to the clubhouse from my garage. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing would be that we have a decent amount of course withing 45 mins of my house, which would include TPC Deere Run, which i have yet to play. I cant really say there is anything bad about my area, other than the winter. A day golfing is always better than something else, no matter where the course is. What do you do for a living? My wife and I own and operate 2 antique stores and working on a third. I am basically retired. I work 4 days a month, sometimes more, depending on our staff. We get to travel a lot. How’d you pick your user name? Just my last name, nice and simple...lol
  9. I think i should be a tester, simply for the fact that i have a high handicapp (26.8,) and always looking to lower it. I golfed as a teen, mostly on Father's day with my dad. Didnt touch a club between age 21 and 44. After my dad passed away in February of 2022, i golfed a round with his golfing buddy, who is also a family friend, and got sucked into the golf world that my dad enjoyed so much. I went out and bought a cheap ready to go set of top flight clubs and quickly added a Nike Victory driver and a Ping driver. Played 3 rounds in 2022 and early 2023, i purchased a new to me Epic Speed driver, an Epic speed 3 wood, Callaway Mavrik Max irons (5i-gw) and an Oddessy Labs blade putter. I also play the Callaway ERC Soft with 260 fade. I spend a couple days a week at the driving range, recently bought an Optishot2, and walk 2 morning 18 hole rounds a week. What i never really see in all my research, is high handicap "testung." Does it help? Is it worth the money? Why you should play this or not play that. More high handicapp testing is what I'd like to see.
  10. I use the shotscope h4. The no annual fee sold me
