  1. I often classify balls depending on how damaged/playable they are: Scuffed ball -> Use it as practice ball at home / sim Visual marks -> Use it when there's risk to send it OOB New balls -> Use it when there's low risk to lose it
  2. This happens to me all the time with my Takomo irons
  3. Still happy with my Callaway Epic GBB, it's my first and current driver. I've been playing with different shafts these years. Having said that, I'm still in the hunt for a new driver. I love the Taylormade M6 family (got hybrid and 3w), but I need to adjust my driver from time to time due to the work that I'm doing to my swing, so M5 could be an option. I've tested the TM Qi10 drivers and I didn't really see any significant improvements apart from feeling the heads look too big at address (apparently this is common for people playing Callaway drivers). They are forgiving, but I ended up being more inconsistent in my strikes. Next week I'll get my hands on the Ping 430 drivers, I've heard a lot of good things about them (including the improved sound) Would love to try the new Paradym drivers soon... Wish me luck
  4. I had a Garmin last year and I ended up returning it, I had a few misreads and I completely lost trust. I'm only using a range finder for now. But I'd like to find a good app + bag mount for recording my shots and provide shot tracking without any complex post processing. Any suggestions?
  5. Thanks for giving people the opportunity to test new gear! Allow me to introduce ourselves. Yes, I said "ourselves" First, you've got me, a 19 handicapper (with the aim to get to 1 digit by the end of the year! I know, very optimistic right?). I've been playing golf for around 3 years, so quite new in this. I represent the everyday golfer, love new gear and cutting-edge tech. I believe my insights can resonate with a significant portion of the community. I'm constantly testing new stuff and sharing my honest thoughts with my peers. Now, the icing on the cake, you also have a senior pro with an astounding 50 years of golf experience, 43 of them as a professional, even playing on the European Tour!. That amount of experience could bring insights not just for the other end of the age spectrum, but also the insights of a pro: a meticulous attention to detail, precision, and understanding. I'm confident that both perspectives will cover the diverse needs of our community. We aim to offer valuable, relatable insights that can benefit the entire community. Looking forward to the opportunity!
  6. I assume that was the reason why they were advising me against getting fitted. They advised me to spend money on lessons rather than getting new specs/ clubs / shafts. But I agree, if someone is a casual player with no aim to get massively better, a fitting would help.
  7. That was my first reaction when they said it, but then they continue elaborating saying that if you get fitted for your current swing while having potential to improve it, the moment you start doing it better those clubs would start producing worse shots and you'll need to get fitted again.
  8. There's no doubt a good fitting should help you be more accurate, and as a consequence, get lower scores. But I recently had a chat with a very experienced group of pros and they all agreed that fittings are actually bad in the long run for most of the amateur players. The reasoning was that while a fitting gets you immediate good results, it also masks your mistakes making it harder to correct them in the future and stopping your progress. The group of amateur players that benefit from fittings would be people with physical impediments that prevent them from improving their swing (tall/short, old, disabilities, etc) What do you think? What is your experience with fittings?
  9. Elastic laces!! I couldn't be happier with them. They're actually very cheap (around $1-5 each pair depending on quality), they work on any type of shoes and can be adjusted as you want.
  10. Most of my equipment is pre-owned. It's very important to make sure they have the right spec. If you find a few options, it's better to pay a little bit more for the one that suits you the most. 1 year old is nothing for golf clubs unless the owner is a PGA pro. I would say you could buy a good 20 year old putter and it will perform the same as a new one for the same price If you have the chance, I'd find a good fitter that tells you the best specs for your swing and doesn't try to sell you the newest $600 drivers Good luck!
  11. I usually drink water and isotonic drinks. Don't care much about the brand, but if I had to choose, Powerade is my go-to. Also, while I'm out there at the course, I never really feel hungry. It's kinda weird. I keep reminding myself to grab some fruit or snack on a protein bar if I want to finish the back 9. Am I the only one?
  12. Hey all! Excited to be a part of this community! I've been playing golf for about 3 to 4 years, and I'm a handicap 19. Golf, to me, is like this awesome mix of skill, strategy, and just good times with pals. I joined MyGolfSpy on the hunt for cool golf chats and tips. Ready to absorb wisdom, swap stories, and hopefully make some golf buddies! Originally from Madrid (Spain), my go-to course is Cabanillas Golf Club. The best thing about golf here is definitely the dry weather, but gotta admit, frozen temperatures in winter can be a challenge. When I'm not hustling at writing code, you'll find me trying to hit a draw. As for my username, well, it's randomly generated. Looking forward to sharing golf tales! Cheers! ️
