  1. 89 today at the club. The back 9 chews me up every time. Did make the best bogey of my life on the par 5 third hole. First tee shot way left OB. Second tee shot right. Punched a 5 iron back into the fairway. Now I'm 230 out hitting 5. 3W into the right greenside bunker. Holed out for a bogey.
  2. Shot 83 today. Felt much better than I've been playing recently with my last 3 rounds at 91,89,90. Hoping that I'm pulling through the bit of a slump I was in. On the first par 5 I was 117 out for my 3rd shot. Smooth 50° SCOR. Dunked it according to the guys standing next to the green. But it popped out and rolled back to 15 feet which I proceeded to 2 putt for a par. Would've been my first hole out from greater than 100 yards. Maybe next time.
  3. Just pulled the trigger on a 913 D2 from the bay for $100. I can't help myself.
  4. That's definitely frustrating. Hard to say if he's sandbagging or not since he's not from your club. The 13 fairways, the 80, and even the 84 against you definitely throw up red flags. If it looks like a duck...
  5. Nope, paid the normal rate. Every fairway and most of the rough was to the point where if I made a wrong step I was getting water above my sock line. I'm no expert on managing a course but I'm surprised it wasn't closed.
  6. Played this morning at a course in MD on the way home from work with a guy from work. 56° and misting after some light rain on and off throughout the day yesterday. Has anyone ever played golf in a swimming pool? Because that's what I felt like I was doing. So the guy in pro shop tells us it's cart path only - fine, no big deal. What he did fail to tell us was that we would be likely to lose many balls in the ponds that had formed in the fairways and rough. I lost 3 balls in fairways and 2 in the rough. The only decent part of the course was the greens. I've never experienced conditions like that. Has to be one of the worst courses in the country in terms of drainage. Anyway, I was 8 over through the first 3 holes with a double, double, quad start. Managed to keep it to 10 over after the front 9. 5 over on the back to finish with an 86. Just all around ugly.
  7. I played a par 70 today that I haven't played before. 3 over after the front 9. 6 over through 16. Then the pop up thunderstorm ended the round. I'm starting to think there are many forces that don't want me to break 80.
  8. 81 on Thursday and 82 yesterday. Still teetering on the edge.
  9. Haha that's a shocker. What's your putter count up to now?
  10. Haven't tried the yet Foz but I love the regular American Honey. Great stuff.
  11. This is interesting stuff. From what I've read so far, Dustin Johnson's swing is what comes to mind that might be a more extreme example of this. Or am I way off?
  12. 81 today. Another close call to my first round in the 70s. Made 5 bogeys in a row on the last 5 holes. Biggest thing today was not knowing what my score was until I finished the round and committing to and focusing on each shot. Gonna keep pressing forward.
  13. Another day, another few strokes away from breaking 80. I think it's bad that I have more confidence hitting a green with my 3W than hitting a pitch or chip to 5 feet. The only bright side of my short game has been my bunker play.
  14. After struggling with a few rounds in the mid-upper 80s I saw my instructor and his words were simple. Slow down. Tempo and balance. I was way over swinging. Played today and shot 41-40 for an 81. 9 pars and 9 bogeys. I'll take a round with no doubles but still searching for that elusive 79. Ultimately it once again came down to my short game.

  16. A pair of 41's for an 82. 9/14 fairways, 11/18 greens. 36 putts with four 3 putts. Don't think I made a putt outside of 5'. Luckily my only birdie was a 1' tap in. I will break 80... I will break 80... I will break 80...
  17. Kinda like there's no 13th floor in some high rise buildings?
  18. 81 yesterday, 85 today. Still looking for that elusive 79. It seems that all parts of my game are decent at the moment but all could use improvement. Gonna keep focusing on 75 yards and in, around the greens, and my putting and see what happens.
  19. Played absolutely abysmal today. At least it felt that way. Hit my irons terrible. Driver was great, wedges were decent, putter was pretty bad. Shot a 41-44 for an 85. 2 birdies, 4 doubles, and 1 triple. Frustrating.
  20. Played today. Solid 20mph wind. 45-38 for an 83. One of these days I'll put two good 9s together in the same round. Ball striking wasn't very good with my irons. My driver and 3W continue to impress me. Still loving the SCORs and Ketsch. Just gotta get back into practicing. It shows when I don't get to the range for two weeks. Highlight of the day goes to my playing partner. He hit a good drive on the par 5 #17. Hit a hybrid for his second shot which ended up in the left greenside bunker. His first bunker shot hit the grass above the lip and rolled back to his feet. He caught his second bunker shot clean and sent it into the right green side bunker. He cussed himself as he made the walk of shame across the green. He then proceeded to hole his third bunker shot for a par. Moral of the story is never give up.
  21. Played yesterday. Started off even through 7. Bogey on 8 and double on 9. Finished with 39 on the front so I was happy. But then it snowballed, triple on 10 followed by another double on 11. I was able to pick up two more birdies to finish with a 44 on the back for an 83. Another shot at breaking 80 gone by the wayside but I feel it will happen soon.
  22. Good work on the initial impression. I think the grass issue would be the case with any launch monitor with having to move it around. Interested to see if they improve on the spin numbers with the new version of software.
  23. Second round of the year today. Shot a new personal best of 81 which was a huge shock. 42-39. Played the MG Tour C4 ball again which continues to impress me. Used the same ball for the whole round which doesn't happen for me very often and the durability seems great. Also put my new Mizuno JPX Fli Hi hybrids into play and was really impressed. Same with the JPX 850 driver and 3W. Super happy with my bag and the potential for this season. Had my highest ever scrambling % of 38% with the SCORs. The downside of the round was four 3 putts. Clearly still the weak part of my game that will be getting a lot more of my practice time this year.
  24. Awesome! I'm free Friday and Saturday.
