  1. Absolutely, music and alcohol and enjoy the outdoors.
  2. Played in league tonight. Started on 14 again. Started with a triple. Toughest hole on the course for me. Made a 10 there last time. I'm typically happy with a bogey. I need to come up with a new strategy for it. After that I settled down and played the final 8 holes in +2. Won the medal points with a net -1 to my opponent's net +5. Won 6 holes which are a point each and won the match 3&2. The 3 holes I lost were the ones I had to give him strokes on (the triple and two unnecessary bogeys). The game is feeling good. Just need to get that 14th hole figured out.
  3. Things finally clicked today after struggling for the past few weeks. 15-20mph sustained winds all day. Shot 38/40 for 78. Had four 3 putts. The course we played just had the greens aerated a few days ago so I'm not upset about it. Made one poor decision on one hole which resulted in a double. My mental game was great today. The M1 was a beast off the tee. Got the 5 wood as well which I'm loving. Really happy with everything right now. The only swing thought I had today was light grip pressure with everything from the driver to putter which seemed to work extremely well. Excited to get out again.
  4. I have to disagree to an extent. Last week I played a course where the greens were rock hard due to a lack of rain apparently in conjunction with the course not watering them either. Think frozen in winter time. First bounces were as high as the flagsticks. I hit 3 or 4 wedges to the middle of greens that ended up well off the back which is not where to miss. Hit a few other shots after that to the front of the greens with the same result. It's not a course where you can run shots up the front of most of the greens. I hit the ball pretty well all day and hit the shots that I needed to. It just so happened that the course conditions were what they were.
  5. I'm up to 9.8. Barely holding it together. The M1 is in. Had a good range session with it the other day. Gaming it today for the first time.
  6. Agreed. I felt like that the other day. I hit the ball well. Just had a few bad bounces here and there and the greens were rock hard. Wasn't upset about it though. Made a 10 on a par 5 to start my night the other night. +9 thru 4, finished -3 thru the last 5. I just need to string together a solid round. It's been a struggle lately.
  7. It's definitely nice when what you feel is a bad is round is way better than what a bad round use to be.
  8. Won some pro shop credit in the 2 man scramble last weekend so I ordered an M1 5 wood with the Aldila Rogue Silver 70X. Wanted the 3HL but it's not available in LH so I'd rather go with the 5 and lower it to 17 with the face open than closing the face on the 3 wood. The shaft on the 5 wood is also an inch shorter which can't hurt.
  9. In my 5 years of playing, tonight were the craziest 9 holes I've ever played. I played in league at the club. We have teams but it's basically one on one match play plus medal points for net scores. We started on the par 5 14th hole. Toughest hole on the course for me. I popped up a 3 wood off the tee. Hit 6 iron for my second. Third shot I had 165 in. Decided to grip down on a 6 iron because of the wind. Snap hooked it into the woods. Hit a provisional but found the first one resting in the middle of a weed. I breathed on it and it moved. Ended up taking a 10 on the hole. At this point, I'm disappointed. I hit my next tee shot into a creek with a 5 iron trying to play it safe. Take my drop and hit the green from 189 and save bogey. Get to #16 and make bogey. Short par 5 #17 hit 3 wood then hook my hybrid into the water right of the green. Take a 7. I'm now +9 and 3 down thru 4 holes against a solid player and former multiple club champion. Get to 18. 3 wood, wedge, birdie. 2 down. 10 I hit it left into the trees, punch out, get up and down from 45 yards to halve the hole. Still 2 down with 3 to go. Par 3 #11 I'm 20 feet above the pin. Opponent gets up and down for par. I make the putt for birdie. 1 down with 2 to go. I win #12 with a par. All square with one to go. I hit 5 iron off the tee then 8 iron to the back fringe. He hits driver, iron to 30 feet. He hits a good putt I give him his par. I make my 20 footer from the fringe for birdie to win the match 1 up. First 4 holes +9. Played the last 5 holes at -3. Unreal. It ain't over til it's over.
  10. Played this morning after work with a buddy at the course we'll be playing at for qualifiers next week. Tried to make better decisions today. The M1 hasn't come in yet so I've still got the G. Hit 3 wood on #1. Fairway, GIR, 2 putt par. #2 I pulled driver, hit it left into the woods, take a 7. #3 I hit 3 wood again, fairway, GIR, 2 putt par. #4 par 3 I make a bogey, no big deal. #5 I pull driver again, hook it into the water. Re-tee, hook another one into the water. Go get another ball, hit 3 wood, hit the fairway, hit the green, 2 putts for an 8. The moral of the story is I hit 3 wood for the rest of the day and missed one fairway by a few feet. Played pretty well after that and stayed positive.
  11. 2 man scramble today at the club. Played in the championship flight from the tips. We played really well. Never sniffed a bogey. Left a few birdies out there. Shot an 8 under 65. Took second place to a team of two scratch golfers that shot 64. They holed out for an eagle on 17. Still, played well and had a good time.
  12. I seriously had a dream that I hooked 3 straight drives and threw my driver into the woods. This is not what I want to dream about the night before a tournament.
  13. Sounds like the fivesome I played with a few weeks ago. One played in the rotation at LSU with Smylie Kaufman then tried to go pro, club champ, my buddy that played on mini tours for awhile, brother of the club champ that also played on mini tours for awhile. I held my own from the tips with a solid 85. I'm happy about that whereas you would probably be pissed lol I got a real lesson in distance that day.
  14. One day I'll be at the point where I lose my swing and shoot 75 lol
  15. On a separate note, my Carbon Ringo is being delivered today after 9 long weeks. I can't wait.
  16. I've thought about it as well but I'd rather find a driver that I like and can feel confident in again. Really it was stupid of me to get rid of my G25 the way I was hithing it at the end of last year. Regardless, I'm excited to get to work with the M1 when it gets in. I hit the M1 3HL and really liked it. The regular 3 was just a little too long for the shots on my course where I'd be using it to stay short of trouble. So that will most likely be my next purchase when I can justify shelling out the $300 for it. I'd also like to add the 3H down the line.
  17. I had the spikes replaced on my DNAs. I keep losing two of them on my right shoe it's driving me crazy.
  18. That is exactly my hope. I also hit the Callaway 816 DBD. Really enjoyed the smaller head shape. Hit some great shots with it and didn't hook it but the mishits we're just too punishing in terms of distance loss.
  19. If I didn't have anything to trade I definitely wouldn't be getting it. I vowed to never bag anything TMag again but it's hard to argue with performance. I've hit it about 4 times now on the range and played 9 holes with my buddy's which is the exact same setup. I just want to be done messing around with drivers. For a while anyway.
  20. Well, my Ping G driver purchase that I made a few months ago has not been working out well. The SF Tec model is just not for me. Used the Trackman at the club today and hit a few different options. The clear winner was the Taylormade M1 with an Aldila Rogue Silver 70X shaft. Picked up 10 yards of carry with much better dispersion and no hooks. I also like the feel and more muted sound. The order is in, I'll be trading in a plethora of drivers and iron sets I have sitting in my house collecting dust. On a side note, I've been hitting the gym hard for about a month now and my swing speed has increased 6mph. Not too upset about that.

  22. First revision of the year and I'm up to a 9.7 from 9.5 at the end of last year. Not the end of the world. Shot 83 today. Played pretty well, still getting adjusted to the swing change but things really clicked on the back 9 and I shot 3 over. Had great birdie chances on 15, 16, 17, and 18 but only converted on 17. Going back out this afternoon for another 18 before the mini member-member tournament tomorrow and Sunday.
  23. That exactly the feeling I'm working with now. Like I'm holding it off and keeping the face relatively square. It's definitely a combo of face and path and obviously strike. Coming so far from the inside like I was it was just extremely difficult to get it right consistently. Worked on it some more today with good results. Playing in league at the club tonight so we'll see how it goes. It'll be a process I'm sure.
  24. I guess I don't really know what's "natural" for me. My first two years playing I hit slices. Second two years I hit draws/hooks. I feel comfortable hitting either one, I just feel like my miss won't be as bad with a fade. I think part of the problem is that I've been swinging so far from the inside that I've lost a feel for what a relatively straight club path is. Yesterday on the range with driver I felt like I was swinging massively out to in but only hitting 5-10 yard fades.
