  1. So, I was really the only one of the four of us selected for last year's ST180 testing to get along with the club in a big way, so I love my Mizuno driver and if the ST190 is an upgrade, it's a hell of bomber. I don't see the need to upgrade myself and I actually prefer the blue over the black, but the tech is legit. I wouldn't be shocked to see a jump up for those with Mizuno irons to make the switch to a Mizzy driver.
  2. A big thanks to Stud and US for running this thing. My only regret is that I don't get Mahomes and Kelce this week against Oakland
  3. From when stats were officially kept, that's correct. Obviously the highest scoring game of all time was Georgia Tech/Cumberland 222-0, but official stats according to an article posted by the NCAA on Sunday weren't kept until 1937. However three interesting notes from the little bit of research I did. 1) The Houston Cougars are the only team to ever score 100 points in a game against a fellow FBS team, when they did so in 1968 against Tulsa, beating them 100-6. 2) The record that LSU/A&M took down was held by a game between Syracuse and Pittsburgh in 2016, final score 76-61 with no overtimes played. 3) The most points scored in an NCAA football game at any level since states were tracked was a DII game in 2008 between Abilene Christian and West Texas A&M, a 93-68 win for Abilene
  4. Well, he's in the middle of a 6 year deal and is certainly getting a raise this offseason. Sean Keeley, founder of our SB Nation blog said today though this isn't the year to worry about, it's the 2019 offseason to be concerned. Babers is just one of the names floated right now for openings, but another 9 or 10 win season at Syracuse he becomes THE GUY for people looking to turn around a program, and with more high potential jobs who can back up the Brinks truck (looking at you USC), that's when you enter the danger zone. Edit: Also, I forgot about this but I need to thank Urban Meyer. He told Chris Ash to turn down the SU job so that he could be the guy to take over Rutgers and we got Dino instead. Wonder how that alternate timeline is working for SU?
  5. So, let's walk through the following scenarios that may come to pass this weekend and what I think the committee might do with them. Now, for these scenarios, we're assuming a Clemson win over Pitt, as a loss drops them out of the playoff picture entirely and brings too many variables into play here. 1) Bama beats Georgia, OSU beats N'Western by 21+, OU beats Texas by a touchdown. Bama in, OSU in, OU out 2) Bama beats Georgia, OSU Beats N'Western by 21+, OU beats Texas by 21+, Bama in, OU in, OSU out Why the difference? Margin of Victory by OU. If OU looks impressive in making up their one loss on the year and wins going away in the Big 12 title game, that's more impressive to me, and I would think to the committee, because OSU got whooped by 29 on the road against a 6-6 Purdue team. Sure is the Michigan win a better win than any win on OU's schedule, yeah it is. However, that loss to Purdue is an anchor in my eyes to OSU's chances if OU comes out and puts one on Texas. A close Big XII title game though and OSU looks the hot team sneaking in. 3) Georgia beats Bama in SEC title game by 7 or fewer, OSU and OU win In this scenario I think the committee is still going for Alabama. Clemson goes to #1, Georgia #2, ND #3, Bama #4. They're so good and a close loss to the #4 team in the country on a neutral field still gets them in I believe. 4) Georgia beats Bama by 14+, OU wins, OSU loses 5) Georgia beats Bama by 14+, OSU wins, OU loses This is where you get your "Is winning a conference more important than dominating a season" conversations. Personally, if OSU or OU beat down their respective opponents and Georgia puts it on Bama, I'd have the conference champion who wins in over Bama for me 6) Bama beats Georgia, OSU loses, OU loses, UCF wins big This is the UCF scenario and boy is it a long shot. I like and respect everything the Knights have done the past two seasons, hell, I think if 4 teams finish unbeaten they should all play for the national title, but that's not the way this thing works. UCF needs a lot of help and this is the only scenario that I see it happening. Sorry Knights, but I'm pulling for ya!
  6. So Syracuse, picked last in preseason in the ACC, finishes 9-3, was two plays away from 11-1. What a season.
  7. I think you've got it in hands. a 70 point cushion plus Goff against three beasts seems safe to me, unless Mahomes only throws to Kelce and Gurley runs through that defense.
  8. Well Stud, I voted my way because Week 17 is trash for fantasy football. It was like the way our fantasy golf league finished. By locking rosters once a team gets dropped, you're basically left with scrubs battling in the end for teams who may not have their best players out there on the field because they have nothing to play for, and for those saying, "should have managed your bench better" what's the point of a bench in fantasy sports except for fliers when your studs aren't playing.
  9. Shoveled out over a foot of snow to go to work today while the rest of city looks like it's shutdown with schools cancelled and no clients so far. In all, A CNY November.
  10. Trust me Cam, you're going to have the lead for a long time in this matchup. Outside of Goff, your whole roster will be done before the majority of my team starts. I've got 6 players on either Sunday Night or Monday. It's wild.
  11. Sooner or later Tony, sooner or later. They can't say no forever!
  12. So, I've been striking out pretty badly on the district attorney jobs around me, but today got a message that the department of social services in my county is looking for someone to start in 2019. Moving my app over there for sure and now we hope!
  13. Guys, I'm begging you as the guy who is likely affected the most in week 12, keep the league as it is.
  14. So Meyer, our courses closed a week ago because of the amount of rain CNY has been getting plus the impending cold snap to make sure less damage was done. I only think it's supposed to be wintery mix to maybe 2-4 inches this weekend, so not a huge event, but we really didn't even get fall here because of the crap weather, which sucked.
  15. So, my problem is that I took the clubs out of the car yesterday, and I'm looking out the window at snow falling. Let the long cold times begin, but let the warm fuzzy girlfriend cuddles begin too.
  16. Hrmm... imagine how I feel. Losing Mahomes, Gurley and Kelce. Good news, should have a top 4 seed wrapped up by then.
  17. I love those stickers with the 26.2 or 13.1 or your triathlon distances. I always thought it would be funny to move those decimal points up for us lazy folks. Like .131 or .262
  18. If I may be heard on this issue? I think the rant thread can be a good place to get advice and support from the community when things aren't going your way or you need perspective on things that because of the situation you're in you can't find right now. It is disappointing however to see where the turn can be made down to some dark spots in our minds. So, how to change it? Well, I agree with potentially wiping this thread from the board, but with it, a MOD or STAFF member should create a new one and in post #1 lay down the law for what's good in the thread including no-go's, potential punishment for those who flirt with the line, and just general cool mod stuff that us plebs don't have access to. It would serve as a solid reminder for the guidelines the forum exists on and sets the boundaries in this thread to potentially curb moving down the weird and dark holes. Or, as Charli suggests, perhaps moving it to the 19th Hole for golf specific rants may be ok as well. Those are my .02
  19. If I had to wager a guess Charli, I'd say a couple, maybe 2-3 a round. Obviously a fitting isn't a cure all state, but it'll probably help his game to get stuff to minimize his misses and help his good stuff. However, he shouldn't expect it to go to a single digit guy through a fitting. But getting to a 13-14 in one season could be on the table.
  20. Man, don't get me started on rain. The last 17 days, 5.22 inches of rain recorded and the white stuff shows up this weekend. Not a ton though, just an inch or so.
  21. I'd say this about the shift of things. I think it was a small group of people who have now expanded out and feel more brazen because we, as a community, let it slide a bit, instead of getting the mods and supervisory folks involved at the jump. The problem is that we're normally so good about self-policing this stuff that no one wants to be the bad guy and drop the hammer. I'll be honest, after seeing those who expose their ass with some of this stuff, a swift block for them makes my life a lot better. Remember you have that and don't get into the fight. Make friends and conversation with those who you do. Don't let the negative bog you down.
  22. I agree in Ken and it makes sense, there is one question though they may stop him and that's how patient with him the school will be. It takes time and the right players to develop a triple option offense. The good news is since there aren't many people looking at those type of players and Maryland would be the biggest school looking for them, Ken should have his pick, but it isn't going to be easy and who knows if it works against the athletes of the Big Ten
  23. WEll Shanks, that's if Schiano leaves. Ironically, he's a name being tossed to go to Maryland, even though... ya know, Penn State.
  24. So, last week The Struts put out a new album called Young and Dangerous, it's awesome. A band one of my college jazz band mates plays bass in called Demille just released an album, and I'm getting prepped for a Jake Shimabukuro concert in Homer, NY on Monday. Plus, Wicked just celebrated it's 15 year anniversary so that's getting a lot of play On Broadway on Sirius/XM. A bit all over the map.
  25. I'm sure it is locally Rob, but nationally not a lot of discussion on that point. Hell, I was watching the 6 pm Sportscenter last night and they Joey Galloway on talking about it. He was allowed to carry the water for Maryland by saying that the next step for Durkin was to fo forward without the guys who walked out, because they didn't want to be there and that they need to rally around those who do. He was also asked how he recruits and Galloway said he just needs to go to parents and explain what happened, show the report that says it wasn't entirely his fault, and show he's willing to change. Total nonsense... I hate this, and if Syracuse gets matched up with Maryland in a bowl like some are projecting, I want Dino to drop 70 on them.
