  1. Will be looking at SM10 wedges. Just got a T350 five iron in this week. Can rotate 5i with 23* hybrid depending on course.
  2. Take a look at FootJoy traditions. Very stable, wide toe box and most important for walkers, light weight. They come in spiked and spikeless. Spiked have more color options. footjoy.com
  3. Well, yes it is. And only a 3.5 hour drive from my front door.
  4. At the age of 77 I have to look at my current game and laugh at times. It was not too long ago that I was a low double digit. Boy have times changed as have the numbers. One thing that has hurt has been the renovation of our golf course. I shot my best score ever on our old course on September 13th, which was three days after my 68th birthday, and that was a 69. Could have been better as we all would say, double bogied the last hole. Anyhow they have the renovation about 10+ strokes harder. Seth Raynor style and very severe breaks and greens fast. Can never really shoot at the flags. Reason one. Have to eliminate those triple bogies. Seem to have at least two a side. That is 12 strokes. Reason two. With the new greens, never consistent, pins seem to always being placed in awkward positions. Most of the workers who set them do not play golf of understand. Most likely loose another 4-6 strokes each round. That is a stroke a hole. Pretty consistent of the tee, keeping it in the short middle grass. Am working on the short game figure could off another stroke or two. That gets up to 20, which is about where is handicap is now. Now the point is, if I would look in the mirror every morning before I leave and convince myself to eliminate those demons, WOW I might even love this game more. HOW ABOUT YOU. What can you do to improve you handicap, by the numbers. I sure could love to play at a 10 for my age and shoot my age. At this current rate I had better live a long life. ha...ha...ha... Hakuna matata.
  5. Understand, did that for a year and a half. Got no support from management. We had a day when the weather was bad, high winds, lightening in area, lightening arrester out of order. Only one ranger and was starter. Went on course to help get folks off course. Two guys I explained that lightening was in area and needed to leave in polite way wrote letter to GM that I cursed them and was belligerent. I was in customer service business for over 40 years before retirement, I know how to handle customers and that not in my DNA. He and the person who was in charge of rangers/starters called me in, handed me the letter and fired me. Asked if they did not want to hear what I had to say and they said no. They believed the guys, because they knew them. Lost a lot of good rangers/starters because they never backed them for anything. Seemed they were always looking for reasons to let them go. The person in charge of the rangers/starters was part time like we were had no experience working with people and ran a lot of people off. If we did our job like they asked and followed the rules and anyone complained, the fired us. It was a total catch 22.
  6. 1. Travel the world with my wife. Have two trips planned to Europe this year. 2. Collect fine art. 3. Different genres of music and have extensive collection. Condensed on USB drives. Can always grab and take with me on trips in SUV. 4. Watching old westerns. 5. Dachshunds. Recently had to let ours go after 17.5 years. Contemplating getting another at my age, 77. She was our fourth in our 47 years of marriage. The one before her lived 14.5 years. We have had good luck with little girl doxies.
  7. I love golf and like to think of it as fun. Nine years ago I as an avid and loyal customer of FootJoy I contacted the the new FJ Rep in this area and as a FJ Ambassador (under their program at that time) wanted to introduce myself to him. Within a few short time frame that day he called me and set a time for us to meet. During our meeting which went on for about an hour we had a friendly discussion about FootJoy and ourselves and I was ready to head back home. I told him if he ever needed any assistance just give me a call and I would be glad to help him out. Naive me, not realizing he was interviewing me. I retired in 2011, having no interest in working after that. He told me to hold on he had something to talk to me about and he begin telling about him needing help in his territory as a Part Time Tech Representative, not selling, but working at events (i.e., member/guests, pro/ams, invitationals, etc. at his accounts across S Carolina). Sounded like FUN, get to see nice courses, meet interesting people and get some extra cash to buy FJ products with, or at least they how I look at it. It goes into my special golf fund. Why not give it a try. We had a gentlemen's agreement. As long as it remained fun and not work, I would stay with him. Well, April 1st, 2024, nine years, and 250 accounts later, still here. I do the Charleston, Myrtle Beach areas and he has hired another TR for the Hilton Head, Savannah areas. I use to help him with the entire area, but it just got to be too much. Both of us (Tech reps) have years of customer service experience and have been around golf in some form or fashion. It all happened one day, just reaching out to volunteer to help.
  8. Retired from walking a number of years ago. Now 77 and due to back and respiratory issues, due the right thing and ride a cart and enjoy golf. Titleist Cart 14 bag for me. Have been using them for bout eight years. Also have a Titleist mid size Tour Bag for special events which I have used longer. Due to the hot sun in our area, always go with the all black bags. Play three days a week and they hold up very well.
  9. Titleist has their 3 for four loyalty program going on. Ordered four dozen Prov1a as I do this time of the year, every year. Love saving a few bucks on the number one golf ball. Ordered them on the 22nd and being delivered today. Decided to put a five iron back into my bag this week. According to Titleist, should be here next week. Just feels comfortable hitting those T350 irons. Feel I can work the iron more than the hybrid, as I did with my previous T300s.
  10. Really wish I had known earlier. Have registered and paid to play in an event at the Dormie Club in East End, NC at that same time. Bummer. Would loved to have made this event.
  11. I usually purchase stock Scotty Cameron putters thru my local fitter, who owns a golf shop and is a Titleist account. Whatever the going price is at the time. Think they are $400-$500 right now. Bought a Super Select Square Back Newport 2 this year. I purchase all my equipment thru him. Also have a Special Select Newport 2 and a Ping PLD Black Milled Anser. All very similar design, faces and price.
  12. Am 77, retired and have the time. Guess that mine is hurdles more that excuses. Have major lower back issues. Spend a lot of time time doing exercises and physical therapy so that I can play golf. This allows me three days a week, M/W/F, to play, and can only ride a cart due to pulmonary issues. Use to be heavy smoker, fortunately NOT COPD. I do small warm up balls on days I play golf. My doctors say to enjoy the game and not to overdo it. Take what I can get and move on. Hakuna matata.
  13. Golf Pride MCC Plus 4 Midsize Grey Driver thru Wedge.....
  14. One of the finest sets of irons on the market and played by very few on tour are Mizuno irons. Well made and an outstanding performing club. When I see a set in someone's bag I know that I going up against a great ball striker. Underappreciated by the masses but appreciated by the purests. Not seen on tour because they do not pour money into playing pros to play they like Callaway and Taylormade.
  15. Still in my bag, Driver - TSi3 10.75* - Fujikura Speeder 661 TR shaft. Have not found one that can compare. Maybe three yards more, but love the consistency and the workability. When your fitter gets the combination right, it is right.
  16. I take pride in what I wear on the course, like I do when I do anything in life. You are what you wear. Life is about choices. Am 77 and as kids our mother would never let us leave the house without loooking our best. Everything coordinated and appropriate for the event. I enjoy wearing latest golf apparel. Outerwear not for tucking in. Shirts should be tucked in. Taught dress for success seminars for over 17 years. In work and life.
  17. This is too easy. Play the course. I have been to the Masters many times and it is without a doubt the most wonderful place to be in the spring. I have experienced the full monty and have so many memories up there before they started the lotteries, and was able to use parton passes on the weekends thru friends. To be able to play Augusta National is the holy grail.
  18. Also like the Bushnell rangefinders. Mine is an older Tour XE and I love it. Very dependable and use the the slope if not playing in an event. Only Tech item I use. Wish I could walk but due to medical issues, I cannot. Have used Bushnell for years but the Tour model is by far the best. A bit expensive, but at 77 and retired, I earned it. Hakuna matata.
  19. I play the same shafts in my Vokey wedges that I have in my Titleist T350 irons. AMT Red R300 Shafts. Was fitted this and love them.
  20. So many great memories, where to start. Lowest round: 69. Three days after my 68th Birthday. Great score, but on the downside double bogied the last hole. Could have shot my age. The ying and yang of a great day. Bucket List Trip: Five wonderful days in Ireland. Played; Ballybunion, Dooks, Waterville, Killarney Fish and Golf, Dingle Bay. Best Round on a Championship Course: From Championship Tees, 77. The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. (PGA CHAMPIONSHIP (2), SR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP, RYDER CUP, WORLD CUP.) Holes in One: 4 (2001, 2012, 2015, 2021) Started playing golf in 1984 at age 38. Late bloomer. Favorite Resort Played: Pinehurst. Played 2,4,8. numerous times. Also attended US Open. Noteworthy Memorable Courses Played: Torrey Pines, Spyglass Hill, Pacific Grove Golf Course, PGA West, TPC of Scottsdale (Stadium/Champions), TPC @ Sawgrass (Players/Dye), TPC Southwind, Colonial CC, Windyke CC, Ridgeway CC, Tunica National, TPC Myrtle Beach, The Dunes, Surf Club, , Bulls Bay Golf Club, Country Club of Charleston, Yeamans Hall, Daniel Island GC, Kiawah Resort Courses, Sea Pines CC, Oyster Reef, Cabot Cliff/Links, Pinehurst Resort (2,4,8, Cradle). Majors Attended: US Open, PGA Championships, Masters (many times before they went to the lottery in 1995). *** Not a major - 1991 Ryder Cup.
  21. I have both in my rotation of FJ shoes. My BOAs are probably five years old and are holding up real well. Of course the BOA apparatus is guaranteed for life. I like the position on the heal on the FootJoy shoes and so easy to operate. A nice tight fit. FJ is the only manufacturer that has the BOA on the heel. Recommend them.
  22. I feel that being a tester is a responsibility to the the community or brand that I am representing. I have to ask myself, what honest feedback can I provide and what would I want to hear about the product I am testing? I have done testing in the past for MyGolfSpy, as well as leading golf brands. I am retired and play golf Mon/Wed/Fri in a Sr Men's league. I have the time and means to test what ever products are presented to me. You might say I have tested most leading brands on the market over the years, clubs, apparel, balls and and gear, thru trial and error, until I settled on on my current brands. I have played golf all over the world, worked as a TOUR volunteer for over 30 years and have a very understanding of the game of golf. I believe in this wonderful game, playing for the fun of it, have played competitively and would like to opportunity to test products and share that experience of new products, with who may not have been around golf as long as I have. I feel I can be an asset to the testing program as I did in the one test I did participate in successfully. Appreciate any consideration.
  23. Me? Am one who has had favorable fittings over the years. Why because I have gone to certified Brand fitters with years of experience in the field. Not big box store fitters or store clerks. My fitter who has over thirty years experience in that arena is certified by Ping, Titleist, Taylormade and Callaway and does not push any particular brand. He has actually told me to come back when my game was better and told me to keep my current set set because with have nothing to gain with newer equipment. It is all in the fitter you choose and use cycle after cycle. No way I would compare my fitter to a car salesman, that would be an insult and resent that comment by the writer. My wife and I always buy from the same KIA and BMW dealership and there is no way the same salesmen are still there. Those days are long gone. Most are in between careers. Care salesman are on monthly quotas and if they do make those quotas they do not keep them. Good honest fitters are still around, like mine and sometimes difficult to get an appointment. Unless you are a loyal customer. Sometimes we are in a hurry to get a fitting and will take what is available in our rush. If you go to a fitter, you need to listen and trust the results. Take your equipment and the fall you play with. If that fitter does ask you to do that. Then find another fitter. Go over with the fitter exactly what you are looking for in new equipment. Study all the brands before you get there and compare the styles and lofts you might be interested in. Some have stronger lofts and will give you additional yardage over another brand. Some are more forgiving. Do your homework before you go for a fitting. Preparation. Develop a plan. Listen to the fitter and give honest feedback. If you feel that they are just trying to sell clubs over helping you, walk away with your numbers. This happens a lot in big box stores. Your choice, before you invest in something you will not be happy with. Manufacturer demo days are there to sell their clubs and they normally use Trackman which provides very reliable feedback. You usually get a discount thru the course that has the demo day. Just check out the fitter before going to them, their reputation and years experience. I support them and will continue using mine.
