  1. Played 2 man scramble, had a fun day. It was US Open day, otherwise known as "greenkeepers revenge" Crazy pins, guys putted into bunkers or 30 foot past the hole. A few guys dress up a bit so I decided to dress down (I usually wear Loudmouth gear) I rang a mate to borrow some beige pants, me getting into his pants worked for him, as he had a hole in one. Other than the dress ups, my game was solid, drove it well, hit my fairway woods really well and hit a lot of good putts, that unfortunately kept shaving the hole. Greens were running beautifully, quick and true despite a wet week.
  2. Drifted out to 5.6 after the weekend. Had a good score drop off.
  3. Played Saturday in tough conditions, windy a bit cold and toughest pins I've seen at my course. Played off a 6 hcap, 3 x 3 putts, which was the least for my group, ball striking wasn't great but scrambled ok. Ended up 13 over. Played again on Monday, massive change in the weather for the better. Pins were the same as the Saturday round, still crazy tough. Putted well, no 3 putts, missed on disappointing short one. Hit a lot of putts that didn't break as I expected. Couldn't hit a fairway early, and my score reflected that. Out in 42. Next 9 was much better, kept the ball in play. Came in with 39 including a double. Played wth my daughter which made a nice day even better.
  4. Very ugly 30 Stableford points, yet another stretch of bad holes through the middle, 5 over from 10-13, with a 4 putt thrown in(my 2nd for the day) Finished solidly, 1 over for the last 6. Played off 5 at my club for the first time, conditions were tough with pins almost off the back of most greens, with a 2 club wind and showers thrown in.
  5. Today was about 20C down here (just south of Melbourne) Not often I get to wear shorts this time of year. I think Sydney had record high temperatures for May in the last week.
  6. 7 over playing off 6. Started with 2 bogeys and turned 2 over. Leaked a few shots through the middle of the back 9, really should have scored better. Conditions were great for this time of year in my area.
  7. Played to handicap, 6 over. Should be happy with that, but had 4 X 3 putts (including one from fringe) Greens were a bit slow, I couldn't settle into my stroke, especially on 6-8 foot putts. Ball striking was ok, didn't hit many really good shots, but was never in any trouble. Exact handicap edged down a tiny bit to my lowest exact of 4.9.
  8. Had another costly mid round collapse, even with the card through 10, including a very soft bogey, then proceeded to double the next 2. Ended up 7 over playing of 6 today. Poor decision making was a significant part of my doubles. Played with my daughter and an old couple (89 & 80) She started well, but had an even bigger mid round collapse. Was pleased she fought it out well.
  9. Strange round, 9 over 81, 2 over on front 9, couldn't hit the planet let alone fairway or green 10 -13. Got my swing back and parred in from there. Must have had dyslexia on the greens, hit most putts exactly how I wanted, but couldn't get anything to drop. Had 3 putts and a chip finish 2 inches from the hole directly behind after trickling past on the high side. One of those days.
  10. Pretty messy today. Ball striking wasn't great, only 7 greens in regulation. Putted ok, but didn't make many. Had a few lip outs, made 4 10 foot putts, problem was only one was for birdie.
  11. Played mixed Pinehurst Foursomes with my daughter, too many 3 putts between us. Drove the ball well, hit some really good irons. Played with another father/daughter team who killed it. We had 83 net 71 3/4, other team had 7 shots better off same handicap. Highlight was an eagle, holed out from 137m (150yd) with a 6 iron.
  12. Pair of FJ DNAs, $100 (AUD130), 3 sets of spikes for about 1/2 price in Aus. Got them at Roger Dunn Honolulu. Didn't even have to beg too much for permission.
  13. Had 2 rounds at Waikoloa on the Big Island Hawaii. Played Kings Course first, off blue tees. Played with rental clubs. Had 82 with 6 X 3 putts, couldn't adjust to rental putter and Bermuda greens, reasonably happy with how I struck the ball. Played with my 15 yo daughter, she hit some good shots after adjusting to rentals. Second round at Beach course, off white tees. 74, par 70. Lost a ball for a double (decided 3 wood off the tee for safety) and missed a tap in. Much better on the greens, still not a fan of Bermuda greens, but bent doesn't work everywhere. Both courses were in good condition, fairways a bit scalped in places, and a couple of burnt off patches on Beach course greens, but overall no problems.
  14. This is great, trying to convince my 15 y.o. daughter that Loudmouth is the way to go. Got her to try on some mini shorts today, and she liked them. Main problem is she doesn't want to look like me. I've got 4 pairs of LM trousers, and 4 shorts. Interestingly, not a single pair the same as yours Bigtazz. They are the most comfortable pants I've worn, as well as looking great.
  15. This is interesting for me, as in Australia, for any round to count towards your handicap, it must be in a formal competition, and signed off by a marker. It seems to be a significant cultural difference, we play competition rounds (within our own clubs) every weekend, and most clubs have at least one midweek competition. A recent push to allow social (non competition) rounds to be handicapped was shouted down almost unanimously. This doesn't stop cheats from putting in bad scores deliberately to push out handicaps, but nothing will ever stop that.
