    In regards to the irons, play what makes you happy.  None of us are counting on this game to put food on the table so play what you desire.

    How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?  Been playing for a little over 40 years and my handicap ranges from mid 3's in the highest heat of the summer to low 7's in the winter when the temp's are beow 60.  Love the high heat and high humidity!
    What do you love about golf?  The challenge of the game is what drives my love first and foremost.
    What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?  Have benn registered on the site for several years and just now really starting to post since I see familiar names from other forums I have frequented in the past.  Have always really loved the MGS reviews and social media content.
    Where are you from? What is your home course?  Have lived in Thomasville, GA for about 12 years and have been a member at Country Oaks Golf Course that entire time.
    What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?  Year around golf is the best.  Temperatures dropping below 60 during periods in the months of November - February is the worst.
    What do you do for a living?  Have been retired for 2.5 years
    How’d you pick your user name?  Huge Boston Red Sox fan

    Very solid setup!  When you are in need of new wedges, I would definitely consider Mizuno.  Their wedges are tremendous and very underrated IMO.

    I am truly shocked that there has been no discussion of these wedges in either this thread or the review thread in almost a year.  As long as they keep making them, I will keep buying and gaming them without even considering anything else.  Not being the longest or most accuate ball striker in the world, wedges are my key to being able to maintain a mid-single digit index and these are the best I have ever played.  Have a satin chome 50* and both satin chrome and BDM finishes in 54 and 58 degree wedges.

    Graphite shaft only 55 year old here.  Steel was forced into retirement when my 40's were left in the rear view.

    One silver sharpie dimple dot by the ball number on each side of the ball.  I prefer as little distractions as possible on my golf balls.

    Congrats to the chosen testers.  As a big fan of Hogan equipment (12 of 14 clubs in my bag), I will certainly be following along closely.

    The Ben Hogan Company started in 1953. It was well known throughout the company that there was nobody that expected perfection more than Mr. Hogan; to say he was iconic is an understatement.
    Today, I hope you are as excited as me, to watch these gents make Mr. Hogan proud as they test the newest clubs with his name on them.
    Testing the Icons will be:
    @Erik-M
    @downlowkey

    Testing the combos will be:
    @joen
    @deejaid
    @bens197
    @Sluggo42

    Hit 'em well gents!  Just like Mr. Hogan did, we expect perfection. 😎

    Yep, the Apex has a flatter lie angle than most which is likely why I have expereinced more success with it than others.  Good luck with the Mizuno!

    Yeah, the height and stopping power is what I'm missing from my G410 crossover. It's a monster off the tee, but off the deck not as consistent, and feels like I have to put in way too much work to flight it up. Hoping this will be easier to launch, and not be so left bias as most hybrids. They have a flatter lie angle than other oems so I'm hoping that helps

    The only hybrid I have ever seen success with is the original Callaway Apex 23*.   Granted, I have not tried a ton of different hybrids, especially recently.  Tried 3 other 4 hybrids since that one came out and none gave me as good of perfromance.  OF course, I am the guy that still games a Callaway XHot Pro 5 Wood because nothing more modern has equaled the performance I get from it.  Granted, the 4 iron (Hogan PTx Pro) does not give me the height or stopping power that the Apex does, but I get the same distance with it and better dispersion.  They both go hot and cold on me so they spend about equal time in the bag.  Nice to have a back-up plan when the deep freeze strikes one of them.

    Nice! That will be great! I’m sure you’re going to learn a lot about your stroke and they will find you the perfect flat stick!
    What’s your preferred style now?  and Why do you keep changing?

    I'm actually doing the opposite. Just scooped up a 2020 Mizuno CLK 22* to replace my 23* crossover. The Crossover just isn't consistent and I feel like I have to work too hard to get the ball up. I need something to fly 200 and stop within a reasonable distance after. Going to hunt down one of those Modus GOST hybrid shafts to try out, and play it around what my set 4i would play, maybe .5" longer.

    I was lucky enough to win a Club Champion putter fitting a few days ago so will be doing that sometime this summer.  Really excited about it.  Have never been through one and am tired of blindly throwing money at putters (currently own 12 in all different shapes and sizes) hoping to land the perfect flatstick, which I have definitely yet to do.

    Well, its FINALLY that time of year in MA. A sun is feeling warmer, crap is already starting to grow out of the leaves from last fall in my flower beds, and my golf league draft is happening on Sunday.

    A few years ago I was ready to upgrade my clubs and went down to Spargo Golf in Cranston, RI to be fit. I already had a G30 driver and FW, and a Scotty Cameron Newport Select Putter that I liked, but was there for an iron fitting. I really enjoyed the experience and have seen clearly that the fitting has helped me play better golf. As I’ve been reading more and more about putter fittings and stability shafts and alignment aids and Rory switching to a mallet, then a blade, then a mallet, then... well you get the point. I said I wonder how many strokes I’m leaving out there? I FEEL like I am a good putter, but am I as consistent as I could be with the proper fit? Who knows!

    TLDR; I’m going down tomorrow AM for a 90 min putter fitting and am really looking forward to seeing how consistent my stroke is now with my putter and what, if any, other options I should look into.

    I figure there has to be others out there on this forum with the same questions as me, so I’ll report back with any of the data I get from the experience and things that I learn.

    Currently I would say I miss equally to the left and right, and feel that my aim and stroke is pretty consistent. I typically have fewer 3 putts than 1 putts, and feel like a 2-putt machine. I think the strength of my game is in lagging putts down near the hole, but perhaps that is just masking inconsistent aim or path. I certainly feel more dialed in on some days more than others.

    Will the Scotty stay?! Or will there be something new in my bag this season???
