  1. And you still beat my 90! It was a great round with jlukes yesterday. I did a good job of eliminating blow up holes and would have made a run at my PB of 85 if I didn't use my new utility iron so much and cleaned up putting on some inconsistent greens. But coulda shoulda woulda, it was a good round and one to build on in terms of course management. Also, the round may have cost me a few hundred, as both shots with jlukes' new M2 driver were dead center in the fairway, and father than my current driver. I need some more time with it, but it's now on the heavy ponder!
  2. Here is me at National Golf Links yesterday. What an awesome place.
  3. Oh boy, this is going to take a while. Northwesterns Cruise Missiles (Callaway knockoffs) South Bays (ping knock offs) A random set I picked up at Play it Again. They were blades and didn't last long Ping G2 Ping G5 Taylormade R7 Nike Ignites Wilson Di5's (loved these) Mizuno 825's (distance monsters) Mizuno MP H4's Callaway Diablo Forgeds Taylormade Speedblades Bridgestone J15 DPF's Hogan Radials Vega VC-05's Srixon Z545's I think that's all of them...
  4. I walked my course yesterday and even though it was 90 degrees, humidity was low and we some breeze so I was never uncomfortable. But once the humidity kicks in and it's blazing hot, I'll probably either play early am or just break down and use a cart.
  5. I was practicing, but probably some where in the low 90's. Tee shots started out horrid but for much better on the back, putting was a lot better and ball striking pretty decent. I ended up losing my glove after the 14th and played the rest of the round without a glove. It made a huge difference, in that I was playing a lot better. Might have to try it out some more, me and Freddy Couples.
  6. A twosome in a cart is way slow and won't waive me through, and I'm walking. I guess I'll play 8 balls....
  7. My Dad and I were talking about this yesterday. There's a difference between gaining advantages and straight out cheating so hopefully there's proof of this player doing the latter.
  8. I'm a big fan of Fried Egg. Their podcasts on Golf architecture are very good.
  9. Where are you getting lessons? Last time we played, you were swinging great.
  10. 44/45 at Glen Mills. 5 pars. Pretty consistent, did well at limiting blow up holes. Was a good round, which I needed after playing poorly my first league night yesterday.
  11. A tale of two nines with a 49/42. I played a course I hadn't played in a few years and short game killed me on the front but found my groove on the back, eliminating doubles and up, and getting pars/bogeys depending on how putting went, along with a birdie, and 4 pars total. I think I was getting a little quick on most of the front, but finally settled down and got my tempo set. It was a tough course and liked how I played at least half of it.
  12. My M2 fairway woods and limited to me with the M1 driver would make me advise anyone to consider them. I love low spinning and forgiving and these some let perform.
  13. There not bad on eBay. Like $60. Just trying to find ones that haven't rusted yet.
  14. For some reason, Nike Engage tie sweep wedges. They seem similar in shape and ability to open the face to the PM grind and my current wedges have seen better days.
  15. Srixon and Tour Edge. Bridgestone used to be in there but they are now getting more love.
  16. Agree. That's why I stay away from most ball testing, it's tough for me to discern differences and characteristics of each. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Got a 2017 Sun Mountain 2 Five. Needed the lightest possible to walk my course on the reg and TGW had a two-day shipping free sale, so it's coming tomorrow. Walked my course yesterday with my pull cart and am looking forward to seeing how walking with a lighter weight just straps compares. I need the exercise, so once I hoof it there regularly, any where else will be a cake walk.
  18. I walk when I can. I'm actually on the hunt for a lighter bag so I can regularly walk my hilly course.
  19. Went to the range just to gut check my swing after playing on a member guest all last week and having a bad last day. Realized it's clubhead position at impact; think I got too quick and too lazy with it but now it's good. Also, my wedges got beat up hitting off hardpan desert all week, so started looking for replacements, but realized I liked the PM grind too much so will just buy replacements.
  20. My top 10 are in no particular order. Royal County Down The Old Course National Golf Links Cruden Bay Shinnecock Camargo Cypress Point Augusta Seminole Sand Hills
  21. Pine Valley was 6540 yards at 153 slope. Those were the member tees. The tips were 7101 at 155. To put that in perspective, my club is the highest slope on its golf association with 6349 yards at 142 from the member tees. From the tips at 7245, it's 153. 700 extra yards to get the same rating.
  22. I always get stuck on this because it's tough to discern whether the course is difficult or game is making it difficult. So I always try to figure it out by what course I can't score well on even if I'm playing well. Here are the ones that come to mind. Sweetens Cove, TN. It's nine holes but the holes are all unique and well designed. The difficulty is so well planned around the greens that you'll never lose a ball, but will rack up strokes if you aren't exact 150 yards in. Bear Creek, CO. A real bear of a course lol. Fits nicely with the mountainous landscape as almost target golf with several forced carries, many blind. I had the special treat of my game completely disappearing all 3 rounds I played, but I don't think it would have mattered. Mission Hills El Campeon, FL. Especially when the wind is upbit even without, this atypical hilly terrain north of Orlando is tree lined and also has a number of forced carries over water. It does not let up.
  23. Went to the golf show yesterday and hit a bunch of new offerings. Here are some random thoughts. Out of the irons I hit, the Mizuno JPX 900 forged really shined. Nice forgiveness, felt great at impact and had a nice high ball flight. They looked incredible as well. The Callaway Fusion definitely piqued my interest. Funky head shape but it was tough to put a bad swing on it and liked how it appeared compact and shallow at address. The Wilson Triton was kind of blah. Louder than all get out, hollow feel at impact and nothing really stood out for me with it. I know it's been out for a while, but the M2 driver might be my next purchase. I've loved my 5w and after hitting the driver some more, might have to switch all my woods over.
  24. No it was the other guy. I forget his name, but know it wasn't Yenser.
  25. A couple years ago, I was fit into the SLDR with a premium shaft at Club Champion and it made a world of difference from the stock shaft. One of my favorite drivers ever. Now I'm playing the stock shaft in the XR16 and love it as well. So in my experience, premium shafts can help but it's probably more about the shaft profile and what works best for your particular swing.
