  1. I have heard so much of this, thinking I'm going to have to just try one
  2. Not really my wheelhouse but the driver shafts that I have hit that produced the highest launch and most spin..... GD Tour AD IZ and the Fuji Speeder 661 Tour Spec. I really liked the 661, not the same specs by any means but you'll see Dustin Johnson will go back to this shaft from time to time when he's struggling with the driver. I still have this shaft on my 3W.
  3. Forgot about the Fubuki Alpha shaft, had that on a Callaway Big Bertha Alpha head.
  4. Had this exact setup as well. If I remember it was one of the earliest heads that sounded like the Carbon heads of today. They then went to that hideous aluminum bat sounding Hi-Bore
  5. Aldila NV 2KXV Green is a great aftermarketish shaft, great looking too if you are in to that. Can get it for a decent price online, under $100.
  6. I have hit a bunch of them over the years, some cheaper, some more expensive. Played the original Grafalloy Blue shaft in my driver for many years, also used to play the ProForce V2. Had the Rogue 125 in a Titleist 915 driver that felt like a 2x4 and was super spendy. Hard to remember them all because I am kind of a shaft *****. In recent years I've had drivers with the Kiyoshi Oban black, Atmos tour spec black and Aldila NV 2KXV green. I think if I had to pick a favorite, I'd pick the 2kxv, which I broke accidentally last year during a tournament I now have my eyes on a Ventus black, but the price tag is quite high so I think I'll hold off and continue to game my Oban black for now. It's not my favorite shaft but I feel like I hit it consistently the best. What are everyone's favs, oldie and newbies welcome.
  7. The T-MBs used to be able to be ordered through the whole set. So if you wanted to now add a 5 iron it would have to be one of their T300 or T400 clubs. What I loved about the T-MBs was they weren't completely considered an utility club. It is what it is I guess
  8. I have had a Titleist T-MB long iron in my bag for quite some time, 4+ years. I am a very good player that just can't get myself to hit a hybrid. I've put one in the bag a few times but the experiment usually lasts less than a couple weeks and they end up in the closet or I sell them. Last year I had a 3 and 4 T-MB in the bag and in the Minnesota off season have picked up a newer set of 718 model 3-4-5. They are the best long irons I've ever hit and I do not think it is close. They are great off the tee on the shorter par 4s but look enough like a normal iron to hit off the fairway consistently into those long par 4s and par 5s. Now that I look at the list of new Titleist irons I see that they removed the T-MB. Wondering what would be a good replacement when these wear down, T-300, T-400? When I look at the pictures online I'm not optimistic that they did a good job of replacing them. Also, I see that they have a couple Utility irons but only make them to a 4 iron loft. Anyone else with me?
  9. Correct. Others I play with say the same thing about the PX6.0. I've never had that feeling, I have hit the stiffer 6.5 and even 7.0 and they do feel a lot boardier than the 6.0. I'm very happy with the results of the Nippon shafts with my irons. Getting old, not as easy to get the ball in the air
  10. Used to play Project X 6.0 shafts in my irons, switched to the Modus3 Tour 120s after I was looking for a little higher ball flight. For me, feel is similar but I get a much higher ball flight than the PX. Distance is almost exactly the same.
  11. Others have touched on mostly everything I would say. What I will agree with is that a good club fitting is worth every penny, especially in a driver. A couple of the ones in the Minneapolis area will comp the fitting cost if you buy a driver on the spot. For the most part, most companies have a wide enough range of standard no upcharge shafts that you can find something that fits your swing. Will it be 100% maxing out your distance, maybe, maybe not. Trying a range of aftermarket shafts can help to get you closer to that max, but not necessarily worth the upgrade price. Some of the aftermarket shafts feel like a cannon when you hit them, some feel like a 2x4, some feel like a fishing rod. The Oban Black shaft for me felt like that cannon... Just my 2 cents.
  12. I'm interested in hearing from someone that has played some recent LS/LL shafts and how this one compares. I keep reading how this shaft feels so stable. My most recent shafts that I have liked/played are the Aldila NV 2KXV Green, Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro White and Oban Kiyoshi Black.
