  1. My wife supports my golf habit, for the most part, and is funding a trip to Myrtle Beach for me and a friend in March for my 50th B-day. She likes golf (mostly likes to drive the cart and have a couple bloody mary's) and I am trying to get her interested in playing more since we will be empty nesters in a couple years so we have a common hobby to share. She is up for it, but I doubt she will ever want to play as much as I want to.
  2. Sorry for your loss, Rick Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  3. My name used to be Calculus Entropy on other places, after Clevon Little's character in Fletch Lives. Also have advanced degree in science, so it seemed appropriate. Over time, changed to Max Entropy to make it a bit shorter. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  4. Weighed in at 226 this week, so I'm down 6 pounds. Not entirely fair because I was sick and didn't eat much for 2 days a little over a week ago. Portion control is big for me. I've also started doing exercises to strengthen my core. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  5. I didn't weigh in today, I was sick as a dog last week and spent the weekend in bed. Zicam nasal swabs seemed to do the trick to get me moving. I'll step on the scale tomorrow and see what happened. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  6. It's really depressing to read about you guys still playing while I sit in single-digit temperatures. I would play in 45 and wind right if mother nature would provide. Enjoy! Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  7. I'm in for this. Currently 6'1" 232. I would like to get back down to 200 and maintain it this time. I gained a lot over the last year - I was unemployed for 8 months and was having back issues. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  8. I usually buy mid-range balls. The last couple years have been Bridgestone Treo soft and Taylor Made Penta Speed. Decent performance for a hacker like me but not as financially painful as I watch them fly deep into the woods. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  9. Lol. I would have to ask my wife, but I believe it is a yucca plant. It does look pretty sinister that way. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  10. That sucks! Glad no one was hurt. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  11. For all of you living in year-round golf areas, I offer this to remind you how lucky you are.... Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  12. Great review, Mike! I think I would really enjoy a school like that, but will likely have to wait a few years thanks to a kid in college and another getting ready to go in about 20 months. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  13. I stayed on top of it this year and as of last Sunday, the yard was spotless and almost all trees had no leaves. Front came through Monday and brought high winds and blew the crap from the street back into my yard. I came home from work Monday to see a mini tornado of leaves swirling around my front yard. Mother nature wins this round, I'm done until spring. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  14. AT&T. I was a manager in Uverse/DirecTV. That group has been bleeding money so they laid off about 10000 a year ago and rumor has it, more coming next year. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  15. We had a mass layoff last year. We were told in October, so we had time to try to find something in the company, but my last day was 12/27. It made the holidays a little less fun, for sure. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  16. Got to play today for probably the last time this year. It was a beautiful day in NE Ohio. 40/45. I had 5 one putts on the front and no doubles or worse. Drove the ball better than I have in a long time and hit my irons much better. Good way to end the season. I had not played in over a month so was very pleased with the results, especially since there was no roll in fairways and greens were pretty shaggy and slow. 17. The guy I play with most often almost fell over trying to putt when he got new progressive lenses. He has to play in old glasses. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  18. While I'm sure getting the run-around is frustrating, I would think it's better safe than sorry. Good luck with the surgery and recovery. My rant: I made a trip to Cincinnati last weekend to look at a car. Internet pictures were not representative at all. Basically told the salesman he was going to have to give me a great deal to get me in the car. They didn't even counter my offer and we're expecting top dollar for an average car. I drove 7 hours Saturday to spend about 30 minutes at the dealership. Oh well, got to spend the day with a friend I don't get to see that often, so that was the upside. 19. I've been out of the loop for a while, but a little over a week ago, the wife and I took a mini vacation to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Played 9 on what is addressed at the oldest course in North America. The wife taxied me around, and I hit balls. Sliced every wood I hit, but my irons are starting to come back after a lesson and couple trips to the range. I can now feel what I'm doing wrong when I do it, but getting better. I made a lot of 6-10 foot putts and still shot 46. I thought I had a pic of a sign near the 8th green that it is still in the same configuration it was in 1875. Must be on the wife's phone. 20. I've never played in an event like that, but for some reason I literally laughed at this post. There have been times I wondered who peed in the greens keepers wheaties, so I can't imagine if they were intentionally putting pins in crazy places. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  21. I played really, really poorly today. 102 (47, 55). Trying to polish a turd, I was crushing my 3w - on one hole I had a sand wedge when everyone else had 6 iron or longer. Chipping was terrible and I burned the edges on way too many 6-12 footers. I could not hit an iron. If I made solid contact, it ended up way left (a few occasions way, way left), not solid shots were fading. How do you pick a target when that happens? Really, I learned two import things today: 1) I love my 3w - I had quite a few in the 270 range off the tee; and 2) I desperately need some lessons. Up until the last month, I was having back problems that apparently hampered my swing more than I knew. Now that I can swing pain free, I have no idea where it's going with irons. I can't say I really understand why I have been pretty solid with 3w and 3h through it all, but I'll take it. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  22. Sounds a lot like my round a couple weeks ago. Every GIR for me was a 3-putt because I left myself looong putts. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  23. I haven't been this happy about a 45 in a while. Two balls in the water on 9 because I'm a moron, and ended up with an 8. To make a long story short, I have been having some back issues for the last 8-9 months. Pain is finally gone and when I was playing last week, my friend commented that my swing was all arms, so today I really focused on getting my body into the action and suddenly the irons were going the distances I'm accustomed to and I hit more GIR than I have in a while (50%). 24. Nice job Kor! I played Sunday and was scrambling around pretty well because everything was very average - not getting off the tee too well, irons only OK. I suppose the highlight was no 3 putts, 17 2-putts and a 1-putt. I was pretty well smoking my hybrid. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
