  1. Finally got some quality time in the Simulator. The numbers I got confirmed everything I have been seeing on the course. For the session of 15 shots I averaged 293 overall. That's 20 yards further than what I was doing with my Rouge. I had a long of 307 with one stinker of about 208. Most of my bad shots were in the 275 range. Hitting this in the sweet spot has such and awesome feel. Average spin was just about 2900 which is really impressive for my swing as I struggle with a neg AOA. I let the pro hit it and he was getting insane ball speeds out of it. Ball speed of 175mph on a 119mph swing. He loved it and was able to really let it RIP. The Xcaliber shaft more than held up to his swing. He was hitting them right down the middle. Winter has set in here so I might be done for on course play this year. Will be fun playing the Sim season this year with how I'm hitting driver. I'm actually even more excited for the coming spring and having a huge problem in my bag very well worked out. 2. When the TS-2 first came out I put them head to head with and identically built P790. The TS-2 had better feel and spun better in the Sim. Had identical ball speed and launch. On the course the TS-2 dropped and stopped on the green while the P790 rolled out the the back of the green over and over. It baffles me why people pay OEM prices when these are so damn good. 3. About a month ago the ProV1s were on sale for 39. I dont normally buy them but the Tour BXS balls were sold out. Now this did not come up in testing but since put the the ProV1 in play I have been putting extremely well. Not just a small improvement either. It's been 3-4 putts less per round and it's not like my proximity to the hole has decreased. It's just something about how they are coming off the putter. Once I run out of them I may have to do some serious practice green trial and error and see if it's the ball or if I'm just on a hot streak. But the difference was right away and it has sustained. 4. Some of the DTC lines have developed a strong following. I personally do not like to have to order the balls online. I enjoy getting them instore so I can kick around other gear. But I think the DTC balls that have performed oncourse and in testing will continue to do very well. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  5. If you look at the picture of my app I have been averaging 275 all year long. I'm beating that by an easy 20 yards. This driver will not help a bad swing as I can fade/slice it pretty bad if I swing like crazy... But.... hitting this driver flush,, it's a rocket. Off the toe puts out just as good of performance and has good gear effect to bring it back online. My best drives have been a relaxed, smooth yet strong swing. The kind where you look up and expect a decent drive yet it just keeps on going. The big thing is this wasnt a one day fluke. I crushed this two days in a row in very cool temperatures. I finished the day today getting on in two at the 510 yard par 5. Plays slightly uphill the whole way, had 205 to the flag. I put a 5 iron with a little draw to pin high 12 feet away.. I came back down to earth though and two putted. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  6. Today continued with the stupid long distance I'm getting. I drove a 285 yard par 4 uphill green. 343 yard par 4 15 feet short of the green. An uphill par 4 and my drive went 297. These are unheard of distances for me these days. Guys who I have been playing with for a while are looking at me sideways. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  7. Wow. Those look great. How did they refinish them? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  8. Update on this head. I have two of these shafted up. The 10.5 with the Paderson shaft that has been my gamer and the 9.5 with an Xcaliber Superlite55. Last week I got some time in the simulator and brought an M5 along as a bench mark. It was a GC2 but hitting into a white screen. For me it's really tough to not see the ball flight. So with the 9.5 I was hitting these giant slices that I couldn't seem to get to straighten out. So I went head to head with the M5 in 9.5 and the ISO-T at 10.5. The ISO-T edged out the M5 by a few yards mostly due to its lower spin. It wasnt a huge difference but 3-4 yards on most swings. So the 10.5 has been my gamer. Consistent, easy to control and good if not great length. Today I brought along the 9.5 for the hell of it to see what I can do out on the course. After a few shots that had a heavy fade near slice bias I changed up my swing a little and got the 9.5 to work. I was noticing I was in spots I had not seen all year long. It turned out to be an absolute missile launcher. I was going past the 10.5 by 10-15 yards. I then left the 10.5 in the bag and really started to zone in with the 9.5. On the back side of the course there is a 353 yard par 4 that plays slightly downhill but then comes back up by the green. Closest I have ever been to this green is 45 yards or so. Today I hit two back to back balls with the 9.5. It was mid 50 degrees out and a swirling wind,,, but definitely not helping. As I walked down the fairway I was nervously looking around to see where the balls had gone because both were dead straight. I was dumbfounded that I would have lost either ball.. I kept walking and one ball was 10' short of the green and the other was pin high. Some people have been very quick to write off these heads and I initially had some reservations but my god.. I havent hit balls that far in 20 years. Also I cant say enough about how great of a feel the Xcaliber Superlite55 has. For being a shaft that's under $100 it has no right to be this good. 9. I don't want to be Capt Obvious,, but I'm a Capt anyways.... but being vertically challenged and 54 years old you may need to seriously look at newer equipment to help with your distance needs. Adjusting 2 degrees strong will kill the bounce of your irons. If you are a true sweeper that may be ok but you may not see that big distance gain you are hoping for. With your height you obviously need to be fit properly. My advice is to get fit as cheaply as you can and find some newer distance irons on Ebay or BST that can fit you. Chances are the clubs never fit you right from the get go. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  10. I couldnt pull the MMBs off the Paderson shaft so I just used the DG 105 S that I had around. I played the TS-1 8-G and the TS-2 5-7. I a round of the year at Leather stocking golf course. Conditions were tough with wet fairways, high winds and cold temps. Took a little while for distance control but turned a bogey riddled front into a -3 back nine for a 73. The TS-1s flat out performed. Big difference from the first go around. I swung them aggressively and they really responded. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  11. Solid day today with the 10.5. Tough windy day with soaked fairways. So it was all carry. Stayed in play all day long and I was able to reach two par 5s. Really loving the Paderson Launch shaft. Great smooth feel with very low spin. Was perfect with the big wind today. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  12. Well then my swing speed is definitely down then. I'm usually 108 -110 when I'm warmed up. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  13. I had not been on this machine before and I was surprised given the club head speed how low the ball speed was. They were TP5x balls. At least it was consistent. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  14. Finally had these on the monitor today along with the M5. Long story short the 10.5 with the Paderson shaft is a low spin setup that is just as long if not longer than the M5. I was on a GC2 and put all three through a first round and kicked out the low performer. The 9.5 I struggled with in doors as it was hitting these big fades. I hit all three outdoors yesterday and the 9.5 was playable. So first up I hit the M5. It has a Hazardous Smoke 6.5. Head was set at 9.5, one weight in the middle, one weight towards the heel. I tend to draw this setup a bit but it's just a bit. This is the first snap shot. Next up was the ISO-T 10.5. Paderson Launch shaft in S but it's a stiff X. The spin was lower and the dispersion was a bit better. It also has a better feel through the ball. I have the 4g weight on the sole. This actually swing weights about C8, M5 is a D2.The ISO-T beat out the M5 and had I thrown out a bad swing the margin would have been higher. The M5 was 275 and the ISO-T should be 280. Not a massive distance but it's still 5 yards. The 9.5 ISO-T had a 12g weight that I swapped into the 10.5 head. It increased spin almost 300 rpm. I then went back to back with it and the M5 and the two produced very similar spin launch and distance. So for in play tomorrow I will bring out the ISO-T. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  15. The sole design is as good as anything designed today. It's like the Srixon soles if you have ever hit those in turf. The sole of the MMB is true blade like and can leave some monster divots of you really dig. They can be tough on Muni turf. But they glide through a nice plush fairway. When Maltby does thier new MB designs in a year or so I really hope they have the TS-1 sole. I know the TS-2 design doesnt suit your eye but they are even better for a digger. 16. A lot of people trash the MPF but the measurements give a lot of merit to a club head that has the COG in the middle of the club face as well as a lower VCOG. Designs that do not will not score well. But find a sweet spot on any iron and repeatedly hitting it will give you great results. Of the three irons you looked at with Maltby the TE will be the highest flying of the three. It has an extremely low VCOG. They also have that sweet buttery feel to them. The flight of the next two are pretty darn close and I might give the nod to the TS-1 as being higher. The MMB-17 has the look of a classic blade but with it's nearly hollowed out back of the iron it plays like a cavity back. The TS-1 with its hollow core design and urethane filling is the latest and greatest trend. It's looks are what I believe is the best of the three. The TE and the MMB have been around for a long time and each year still sell well. They are timeless designs that have evolved every few years, but just slightly. If you want to keep up with the Jones the TS-1 is the way to go. The TS-1 also has this 4 way chambered sole that just refuses to dig into the ground. If the MMBs had this sole they would never leave my bag. Tough to go wrong with any of those three. Plus the money laid out is about a 1/3 less than any equal OEM. I would also try and spec yourself out a high flying shaft as well. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  17. Some old school Matby's. Logic HTD Forged which is the early version of the TE irons. Grabbed them for $9.95. The are actually brand new never shafted. Might go with the Score LT shafts for a ridiculously inexpensive set of irons. I'll have fun with these. Also found a near new CT 250 11.5 head. So I'll take out these clubs and just have a throwback round of golf. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  18. I'm giving these another go with some Paderson Kinetixx TS shafts. 8-GW TS-1 5-7 TS-2. I loved the TS-1 heads in the winter sim season. I'm gonna dedicate some more time to them this go round. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  19. It's funny how that works. Trying to let the club do the work with myself leads to lazy swings that dont compress the ball and poor mechanics. When I know I have an MMB (which is a modern blade with help) I know I cant baby the club and need a good move. My buddy has some of the newer TM clubs which I think are 730s. They are tiny and must be swing like you mean it.. I crush those.. So I fully understand where you are with those. I think I was truly guilty of that lazy swing with the TS-1 heads. Knowing they had built in help yet I couldnt somehow make my good move through them. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  20. I remeber Justin Rose speaking of his Honma deal. He was saying one of the perks was playing anybputter he wanted. My buddy who is a TaylorMade Pro has to play an all TM bag or he doesnt get a dime. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  21. Simply spectacular photos. Hearing you talk about the trip it sounds just like a Pinehurst experience. Elite par three course. An adult beverage friendly putting course and of course world class golf. Great scoring btw. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  22. There is a massive bias on the third site that will step in on component threads or smaller shaft company threads. and just blow up the thread... because there really is no way for them to make money via those companies. There are quite a few influencers that steer threads as well. With MGS there just simply is no corporate bias anywhere that I have seen. Its member driven input on gear. As it should be. Yes GolfWRX is not newbie friendly and reminds me of certain auto forums that have the same vibe and hard core attitude. Just different topics. What's being done with MGS is truly unique. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  23. They are hardly irrelevant. Since thier upgrade they no longer support Tapatalk. Which is truly disappointing because I have to go to the webpage in order to view threads and I dont find it even remotely easy to navigate. I participate in car forums as much as I do golf so using a common platform is very important to me. The GolfWRX active member is a hard core golfer. They know thier stuff. The member of say HP is more of a casual golfer but still very active members. I find MGS to be somewhere in the middle. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  24. But,,,, quite a few of the top guys are now gaming the TM Spider. But I really believe at the Pro level you could give them a hockey stick and they would still score well. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
