  1. The only time I feel a wet course is very penalizing with a high spin ball is when you are pitching a ball and you hit the upslope of the green collar. That little area always holds water and will kill any ball, high spin or not. Beside that you just have to figure the ball is all carry with no roll out everywhere on the course which is no revelation. Just play the ball the feels best to you Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  2. I am using what I have left of the Xcaliber Tour X 85g iron shafts. I believe I'm switching to a Paderson or at least see how I like them. I have the Padersons in quite a few of my clubs now. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  3. I have the old 3 in the bag and a 2 some where in my cave. Look forward to picking up one of the new ones. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  4. Well... initial thoughts are what a club!! Built the 4 with a Paderson Kinetixx Launch FW shaft. The stock weight is in place and its 43" long with a CP2 midsize grip. Swing weight came to a C8. I put it up against my gamer Callaway Big Bertha Alpha. Weight fwd with a Kuro Cage FW shaft. Swingweight is D0. After a good warm up I started with the Callaway. A club I know and trust. It's been my go to,, to hold a tight fairway for quite a few years. Took note of the flight and where it was landing,, (no hard data yet). The sound is a bit tinny but nothing objective. Hitting my stock baby fade. Great club,, can get a bit squirrelly but always stayed in play. Next up was the KE4. Now I have not bagged a Maltby FW in a long time, since the Callaway actually. So I was very interested to see how this would fair. First off was the sound. A more muted sound than the tinny Callaway. When I say tinny it's more of like a high pitched click. The Ke4 has a much more pleasing sound. When i looked up to see the flight it was dead straight but where the Callaway reached an apex Maryland started to fall,, the KE4 would keep going. But it wasnt a low early Apex. It was the same height as the Callaway but it kept going. It was clearly sailing past the Callaway. Next was how straight it flew. Ball took off and held its line. Feel wise was just simply solid. Wasnt a feel like it was a hot face or the ball lept off the head.. just a solid feeling. Much later in the session when I was worn out I started to hit the ball all over the face. A few heel and a bad toe shot. They obviously lost distance and the heel shots had a big fade in them. But each one would have found the fairway. Very impressed with the forgiveness. Also the toe hit didnt turn into a snap hook, just the hint of a draw. I also threw a dozen balls in the deep cabbage,, and I mean deep... to see how it did. With a fairly heavy feel to the club it simply muscled the balls out. I was very surprised to see them get up and fly half way decent. This club does everything well but it might come out of the cabbage better than it should. Looking down at the club it has a nice, old school shape to it. More of the pear type of shape to it. Though it's a fairly shallow head the scallop on top makes it see bigger than it is but not in a bad way. Matby's new releases continue to be flat out amazing. I have been building their product for 20 years and what they have out now I would put up against any OEM. Without a doubt this is going straight onto the bag. I'm on the edge of my seat for the next big release, the ISO-T and I will have a full Maltby bag. If you are even remotely in the market for a FW do your self a favor and get one. 5. In for some testing is the new Maltby KE4 TC FW. If you have been paying attention Maltby has been killing it lately in their product launches and this FW is just gorgeous. If it plays anything like it looks it will be awesome. I have it glueing up with a Paderson Ballistic FW shaft so I might give it some work later on today. This one is a 4-16°. As a side not the bottom adjustable weigh is the same size as a Callaway or Taylormade wrench. Cant wait for this one. I will try to get some data comparison between this and a Callaway 4 wood of equal loft. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  6. Since I had been gaming the Bridgestone Tour XS this test made me really want to try out the Tour X. In a driver I am a high spin player so even 300-400 rpm drop in spin will really help me out. I did some extensive head to heads over a two day period. Just as in the test the Tour X was longer off the driver by 3 or so yards. Nothing drastic but it was longer. That is just about where the difference between the two was. Playing two balls through every hole at times I had no idea which ball I was playing so it was basically a blind test. They both performed extremely well. Always around the flag, no flyers or any duds. Just reliable repeatable play. This is a ball that is so perfectly suited to my game and gives me the feel I like. From 175 and in the ball plays like it has eyes. Really gives me a straight flight. Isnt overly spinny on full approach shots yet bites on short pitches. Also it feels great off the putter. Not mushy soft but just soft enough that it still gives me good feedback through the hands. I could game either one truthfully and be happy as a clam. When I'm done with either dozen I'm not sure which will stay in the bag. It's that close. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  7. Yesterday I had epoxy failures on both my driver and 4 wood. This all occurred by the third hole. I used the HDI 3 for the rest of the round. At one point I got it to -4. But in the back the really long holes took a toll and finished at -1 on a 6400 yard course. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  8. That will be an awesome combo Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  9. I have the older HDI 3 and it has a more boring trajectory. Traditional hybrids tend to balloon a bit for me. But it's what they are designed for. High flight that comes down soft. I find they play closer to an actual iron but far easier to hit. Plus the footprint is so much smaller. Pleases the eye more. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  10. Ok so let's say you dont put a tip weight in the head with a longer shaft and you lose a half of a swingweight point. No way on earth you would ever notice. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

  12. If you look at any Topgolf location you see the shear joy an entire family can have at the game of golf. TVs, loud music, beer, wine and great food all while everyone is Laughing and someone being horrible at golf. What does a Country Club have anything similar in what I just explained. They are stuffy, elitist, expensive and full of rules. A family would join TopGolf in a heart beat,, but joining a country club??? Where is the payoff for a family. In today's instant gratification generation the journey to being a competent golfer that can get on a good course and not look like a complete ass is a long one. If you are a long time golfer like myself but with limited time to play due to work cycles its foolish for me to belong to a club. I like to play a variety of courses. Our local Muni allows walkers $20 for 18 holes. No club house minimum, no restaurant minimum, no fancy dress code. Just golf. Why would I want to join a club?? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  13. How did you apply a swing speed of 100mph?
  14. Then you will love club building. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  15. First off let me tell you the huge amount of pride that can be recieved from building your own clubs. Well over 20 years ago when I really got into golf even back then I didnt want to pay full price for OEM clubs. Then I stumbled upon Maltby heads and the Golfworks. I can build and work on damn near anything so having the tools and being handy was not an issue. But quite frankly anyone can build clubs with a minimum of tools from Harbor Freight. Plus now you can experiment and change your setup whenever suits you. I assume you already have an idea of where your club specs are so putting together a few demo irons should not be much of a guess. Doing a YouTube search should give you all the how tos on home club building. When you game a full set of clubs you made your buddies curiosity always gets to them and they want to try your clubs. That leads to building some wedges or even full sets for them. So at a certain point it pays for being you being a club Ho. Maltby has some new ground breaking tech for driver head construction just about to be released and it should be their best driver head launch since the CT250. I will again have an all Maltby bag and taking someone's money who bags a full set of PXGs with your gear that cost less than his driver is HUGE... So if you have not already done so look up Golfworks and cruise through the iron heads and see what they have. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  16. Golfworks line up of forged iron heads have never been better. They have traditional forged heads or cutting edge tech at better than a third of the price of any OEM. Do your self a favor and build a demo club or two. You will never look back to an OEM iron head. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  17. I understand wanting to give someone time to air their opinions but,,,,, as a first thread??? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  18. I hope all of you reading this realize this is a troll posting by a brand new memeber who is possibly affiliated with someone in the industry or another forum...... It's meant to discredit MGS, in any way possible. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  19. No it's just the 2,3,4. I thought you said you had the new head on hand. Didnt register that you had the 5. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  20. The only club I seem to struggle with in true distance these days is the driver. I just cant get to a par 5 in 2 anymore and though it's not really putting stress on my game,, like everyone I'm still trying to score as well as I can. I dont hit a towering drive, more of a screaming lower line drive that if its spinning too much has no roll out and even worse when it s wet goes no where. Playing with two other very low HP players last week on every hole I was a good 20 + yards behind them and the difference in club head speed is not that great that would cause that much of a distance gap by any means. The Tour B X was spinning at 2129 and the XS was at 2367 or a 239 rpm difference. The X was also 5 yards further on average. It may seem like a trivial amount but if the Tour B X plays for me like the XS does for every other part of my game why wouldnt I want a few more yards in the one part of my game that is challenged right now. Yes I know it's more driver technique than anything but it's what I have in the arsenal for now. I need to get into a club fitting shop and find a lower spinning driver combo soon so it might be a moot point. The Tour B XS checks off every box for me other than the long ball. I get home in another week so I could send you a few XS if you want to try them. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  21. The Nicklaus technique is something I have been using for years and completely eliminated hitting it fat or thin. Plus, just as he holed that chip, I do it almost every round. It baffles me that this is now taught more or... more pros dont do it today. So many people are in love with trying to flop it into the hole or close. Me,,, I want a chance to roll it on on every missed green, not just get it close. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  22. You have the new FDI??? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  23. My only "complaint" about the B XS is I thought it spun too much for me off the driver. But,,, it was simply perfect for me everywhere else. From the data it showed just that... it was a bit spinny off the driver. But if I went by the edict of fit the ball to your short game and the driver to the ball it's perfect. Which,, is just what the data for me shows. Perfect for me everywhere but the driver. I'm actually splitting hairs but the B X might be better for me with its lower spin from the driver. I had been searching for a ball for quite awhile and stumbled upon the B XS. I have a rack full of balls. Chrome Soft, MTB Black, ERC, TP5X and a few PRO Vs. The B XS was given to me and the ball was almost perfect other than the driver which was proven by data. Really eye opening test. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  24. I'm looking forward to try those against my gamer the B XS. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  25. It's truly a litmus test to how well you are doing as a Forum, group or some type of platform that when you launch a test such as this and you send a shockwave across the industry and social media platforms. MGS has seemingly dropped a Nuke. Bravo guys on being the unbiased and the unbought forum. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
