  1. I'm a little burnt out to be honest. I usually don't play this much golf. So I'm taking a week off and will play a couple of nine holes next week maybe. It's hard to enjoy right now when I can barely get off the teebox
  2. Fair enough. I'm only in 2 leagues and dont do DFS, I see where you are coming from though.
  3. I shot it down because, like Fantasy Golf, Its hard to track how I am doing against the plethora of opponents I'm facing every week. I'd much rather have 1 or 2 at max because its more fun for me. I like to watch football all day Sunday knowing who does and does not need to perform for me to win. Its why I enjoy Fantasy Football and facing 3 opponents makes it near impossible to keep track of all the players I'm hoping sink or swim. Just my 2 cents and why I voted that way. I may be the only one who voted that way for this reason, but I just think its more fun when its easier to keep up with.
  4. Ha, I got screwed like this earlier in the year and now I check every wednesday night to make they are all still green. It is strange that he was ever included in the first place though...
  5. @Undershooter Did Noren drop out late or are you just being a gentleman and giving the rest of us a chance?
  6. Its in my signature, but Ping Sigma G Tyne. Last years model actually as it rolled better for me.
  7. New putter. My previous putter was a top flite with not much forgiveness. I switched to the mallet I have now and it helped a ton. On top of that. The new club I joined in February has insanely fast greens compared to what I was used too. So I chalk some of that improvement up to just getting used to those greens and being able to read them better throughout the summer. My chipping is still pretty pitiful but GIR proximity has definitely gotten better so there is that as well. EDIT: So many typos, sorry guys, I corrected them. Was typing this response as I pulled out of the garage last night and never looked at it again until this morning.
  8. 3 wood, 5 iron, 54º, the PW is crazy accurate though...Why must you make me choose!
  9. Before I start, I just want to thank the moderators, Cobra, and Arccos for putting this together. I've done my best to live up to their expectations and I truly can't say enough about how well put together this challenge was and how thankful I am to have been chosen to represent the forum. A big thank you to my other competitors as well for keeping things interesting and providing some really incredible reviews of the equipment. Of course, I have to thank my teammate @Wedgie for supporting me no matter what! I started this thread with some baseline numbers that were pretty representative of how I was playing: I ended up improving in a pretty big way and came out to a 19.7 overall handicap, here are the rest of the numbers: I'm VERY happy with my improvement. I'm sure no one here is surprised that the only stat that did not improve is my driving...I just can't figure it out. I'm beginning to think its a forgiveness thing and that I just do not have a consistent enough swing to make it work with this driver. I've tried everything possible. Higher loft, lower loft, draw setting, weight front and back, nothing seems to give me any kind of consistency or confidence. Other than that, I love every single club in the bag and of course, the bag itself. There was so much hype about the one lengths being problematic or not giving me good distance, short irons being too long, etc... I am here to tell you that is all a load of crap. They work, they just work. I've shown you distance, and accuracy. Checking my stats in Arccos now against my baseline stats: My long iron GIR % is up 10.3% (175 yds - 230 yds) My short iron GIR % is up 3.4% But my % of misses short of the green has dropped 26.6%!!! Wedge GIR % is up 31.2%!!! (inside 135 yards) Suffice it to say I am in love with the wedge and irons. I kinda like hitting those 275 yard bombs with the 3 wood too. Pretty good improvement to have not taken a lesson. Also this improvement is only over 13 rounds. Which is a pretty typical amount for me over an 8 week period. Its actually more than I would normally get by about 5 rounds. Here are my personal bests: My favorite is the 0 eagles achievement, kinda mean but also funny...I think... Again I just want to thank all the forum members for participating and keeping this thread alive, without you guys we would have been all kinds of bored talking to each other. I sincerely hope you've all enjoyed putting up with me and my sometimes ranting / lengthy reviews. Please continue to ask questions...in the meantime I'll continue to outdrive people with my 5 iron (Who needs that stupid driver anyway).
  10. Yes. If Graham Gano makes another 63 yarder. He deserves 10 points for that kick. Just saying.
  11. My team has been bombing lately..I went from being pretty dominant for the majority of the season to falling 4 places in the last 4 weeks..I wouldn't be too worried..
  12. @Shankster We meet again old friend... Me and Shankster have played each other 4 times in total this season and currently we sit at 2 wins a peice. This should be fun.
  13. Ha! No problem. Yeah there are a few things only available on desktop. But Arccos doesn't really tell you that so you have to kind of go and discover it on your own.
  14. Arccos Review Time: Overview: Arccos as a whole is a solid product. Everything from basic GPS functions with and without elevation all the way to the strokes gained method and a full view of metrics for example: GIR % hit on hole 8 of your home course across every round you've ever played. (Pretty freaking cool). I have a few minor things that I just don't like about it but those are also functions that I wouldn't normally have ever used in the situations that made me dislike them. It was just a part of the challenge. More on that later though. GPS Functions Perhaps the single most important on course function apart from picking up shots. It works, pretty well too if you ask me. You get elevation and without elevation estimates to front / middle / back as you would expect. You also get club recommendations at this screen which is pretty cool. If you're laying up you can get yardage to that spot and yardage from that spot, to the green all with one thumbpress. I really dig it. It took me a minute to get used to it but coming from 18 birdies, these functions are just lightyears ahead in my opinion. Shot Tracking and Analytics The strokes gained stuff seems to work although I really wouldn't know if it was or not. There is a lot of maintenance required in my opinion to have everything be accurate. Because Arccos uses sound + movement to pick up shots, chips often don't get picked up and pin position and first putt distance is nearly always wrong. So going back post round and editing every single hole is a must if you want to keep accurate stats. To add to this, these aren't small changes. I've seen my putting handicap for a round drop 10 strokes because arccos had my first putt distance significantly off from what really happened. The analytics part is really cool. Probably my favorite thing about the platform. Alot of people who I talk to about Arccos have this go-to line of "I already know what I'm bad at, I don't need a computer to tell me". Yeah thats cool, but did you know that from 85-100 yards you only hit greens 70% of the time but from 105-125 you hit greens 95% of the time? Or that your distance to pin on pitches greater than 35 yards is 30 feet? and that you've hit that shot 114 times? maybe you should practice those pitches more? Or practice your putting from that distance more. Things like that really set Arccos apart from just "O look I improved at approach shots this round" type of mentality. Its a nerds tool and you can dig in as far as you want. Course stats show that I had never hit the green on hole 4 of my home course. It's a 190 yd par 3 with a massive bunker left. A little arccos research made me realize I was taking too much club and that by mising the green left in that bunker or short of it my chances of getting out with a par were abysmal. Instead I chose a shorter club and aimed for the right front of the green and got my first par ever after hitting the front of the green. There is limitless opportunity to find places you can shave strokes off if you have the willingness to take a look. Is your FIR % on a certain hole less than 50%? Take an iron and just stay in play and get a par instead of a bogey or a bogey instead of a double... Here's a screenie of my home course, one of my favorite parts of the analytics system: Anyways, at this point I'm rambling I just really love this part of the system.... Caddie Caddie is the most incongruous part of the system. Every other aspect of Arccos feels unusually well polished and detailed, almost over the top in the amount of things you can do and dig into. Caddie feels like an unfinished afterthought. When it works..which is not very often (7/18 tee boxes for me) it gives decent recommendations as long as the hole isn't a dogleg in any direction. I actually found myself standing on several tee boxes hoping that it wouldn't work so I didn't have to deal with whatever random club and path it wanted me to take to the hole. Robertson had a great example of the problems that can arise from a tee box. Its not just that it doesn't account for these annoying things called trees, it also forces you to make some really poor decisions. Like standing in a fairway bunker and having to take out a 3H... For me there is enough value in Arccos without having to use the Caddie function, but if you are considering buying it just for that, I would say forego the purchase until we get some better updates. Here is the error that constantly plagues me which is sad because the teebox is the kind of place where I really need all the help I can get:
  15. Going to a Braves-Dodgers game on the 17th. Other than that I'm good. I can draft on my phone in the stands if I have too. Lol
  16. I'll keep you posted. Ha I thought we were a team!? I feel betrayed
  17. Im about to throw the driver in a lake. Other than that I'd keep it all.
  18. And I left the current tournament leader on the bench...of course...
  19. Alright, so what are we thinking @Undershooter? 2 - 14 team divisions again? Please dont make us go to 16 team leagues...
  20. I was just making a point. over the past 8 weeks we have all posted a good bit about our play / scores / etc... Even taking 1 week of scores out, there is still an individual trend for each of us that can be deduced within this thread. I'm not saying someone is going to get it exactly right to the decimal place, I just mean that a more educated guess could be made based on the history of this thread than some of the guesses I have seen. No big deal.
  21. You know, you guys that are guessing...This doesn't have to be a complete guess. We've been posting rounds, screenies with scores on them, etc.. a little due diligence may well go a long way on this one. I mean I'm pretty sure we all shot net under par with only 4 clubs... I'm not trying to help or anything but the prize for this week is pretty significant and the effort it takes to make a decently educated guess is not very high based on the posts in this thread...
  22. Orrr both options give you the same line with different clubs. Like this one: Note that the other option is a 6i with the exact same path through the trees...
