  1. Putting grips are always funny. I double reverse overlap. Instead of right pinky over left index, I have left index and left middle over right pinky and right ring with left index pointing down across my right hand, sitting in the crease between my index and middle fingers on my right hand. 2. I'm an overlapper. Tried interlock a few times and found my pinky really hurt after so went back to overlapping. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  3. My lowest bounce specialist wedge is my 58° at 10°. I've got a 54° with 12° and I used to bag a 56° with 14°. I can't see myself going below 10° of bounce on a club I use around the green, which are shots I pretty much exclusively hit with my 54° or 58°. I'm able to do everything I need to around the greens with those two clubs and the higher bounce has definitely been beneficial to my bunker play. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  4. TaylorMade had a fun video with Tiger and Day hitting bunker shots where Tiger was saying amateurs shouldn't play lower than 12 degrees of bounce. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  5. Ian Fraser of TXG demonstrated something interesting in a recent video when he was testing irons. Forgiveness can be relative to a given player. We often think of forgiveness solely from an MOI standpoint but there's also the way a player interacts the club with the ground. Some players suit a thinner sole, others a wider sole. Depends on the attack angle of the player. There's that turf interaction buzzphrase again, but it does mean something. What it comes down to is getting properly fitted for whatever iron you end up playing. And a good fitter can make a world of difference. There's a lot more to what iron someone should be playing than just their handicap. I certainly prefer the blade profile with less offset, I miss left... a lot. But for me, having something with some forgiveness in MOI is also important because I don't play often. So I'm looking more at 0311T or P760 style irons over a pure blade. 6. I think that was true in the past but at least recently they've really begun offering lines that fit every level of golfer. They've got 9 ranges of irons to pick from and they're fairly easy to blend for a combo set. MB CB T-MB AP1 AP2 AP3 CP-01 CP-02 C16 They've also offered a "better player" club and a forgiving model in their hybrids, woods and drivers with the H1, H2, and the TS2, TS3, and now TS4 - and formerly D2 and D3 - in the woods and drivers, plus they offered a C16 driver. Like I said previously, I'm not big on Titleist but I am mindful of what they're doing being a bit of a club geek. Definitely agree on the ball thing. Know a few guys who swear by Titleist balls and won't even try anything else. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  7. I've not really ever been overly fond of Titleist. I do respect their engineering and stuff but they're far too traditional in looks for my liking. I hit the TS3 shortly after it came out, along with the Ping G400 and TaylorMade M3. I had fairly similar numbers with all of them, and I thought the TS3 was quite good in fact, but I much prefer the aesthetics of the other two. I also wasn't a fan of the Pro V range of balls I tested many years ago and ended up going back to my Nike balls until they shut down the hard goods. Don't think there's anything wrong with them going for the traditional look by any means, it's just not for me. Aesthetics are an important functional requirement for me in any club. Titleist just hasn't ticked that box for me. Maybe in the future... Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  8. His personal specs. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  9. They've also got Tiger's lofts on the TM website. 49* PW Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  10. $2000 USD (2599 CAD) roughly for pre-order. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  11. Mike Taylor has still been pretty involved in Tiger's irons even now he's with TM so feel should be fairly similar. Can't imagine a pure blade could sell for even half what those concept irons are selling for even with Tiger's name on 'em. Probably be around 1500 USD at most for 3-PW. 12. Forgetting the fact that I dislike Shiels a lot after meeting him in person What happened? Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  13. Crossfield and TXG are a cut above in my opinion. I learn far more valuable information from them than anywhere else. Crossfield's recent videos on Strokes Gained have been fantastic. I also really enjoy Fried Eggs Golf and Peter Finch. Used to enjoy Shiels the way he's running his channel of late has turned me off. His crusade against high prices is fine but it's affecting his club reviewing in a negative way. His review video on the new PXG drivers was horrible. If I was PXG, I wouldn't be sending him tester clubs anymore after seeing that. Golfholics has great visuals but there's just a couple things with their channel that I'm not overly fond of. Minor complaints but enough to kind of turn me off their vlogs and that Bob Menery vlog that they ended up taking down was not pretty. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  14. Rick's announced the date on social media today. May 6th at Formby Hall in support of Prostate Cancer UK. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  15. Rick's channel for a live event. It's his idea, and he's putting the groundwork in to get the event going. Only right for it to go through his channel. Event is for charity anyway so any revenue from livestream and fan attendance would be going to charity. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  16. Mark has told people to check his Instagram when asked why he declined. I don't use Instagram so I don't know if he posted a story video explaining it but the only other possible thing he's pointing to is he's changed his bio to "Golf Coach, NOT a YouTuber [emoji23]." He also said in a Twitter reply that he'd make a video explaining why if people were interested, but not sure if he'll end up doing so. Least he won't until he's back from Abu Dhabi, as I don't think we're getting any daily vlogs while he's there. What's interesting though is Dan Hendriksen has asked to play in the event, though I don't think he'd turn down the opportunity to play competitive golf anyway. Think he's probably one of the odds on favourites, if he does play, to win the event to be honest. I think it's a great idea and glad it's being done to raise money for charity. That being said, I don't think it will be a success if they don't present it as a live broadcast in similar vein to an actual professional tournament. I don't, nor do I think many others will, have any interest in having to watch however many individual course vlogs from however many channels are there to get an idea of how the event is going/went. I think the players should be mic'd up and a YouTube live show should be run through Rick's channel in an actual live golf broadcast format. If they want to bring cameras out to document for their own viewers later, I think that's fine. Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  17. Rick Shiels announced he intends on putting together a Charity Golf Open for YouTube golf channels. It looks like he's hoping to get all the biggest channels first and then will bring in some of the smaller channels as well. Mark Crossfield's already declined the offer. Curious what people think of the idea and whether you'd tune in or turn up to the event if/when it happens.
