  1. I'm finding that as I gain more confidence in regripping my clubs some of my golf buddies are asking me to do their clubs. I'm currently using one of those rubber deals clamping it in my bench vice. I've seen club bench vices but my question is where do I get one of these? Chris
  2. Welcome Matthew. I'm not all that far north of Midland, and I too graduated from GVSU, much earlier than you I'm sure. Anyhow ,welcome to MGS, this is a awesome place for golf!!!! Chris
  3. Selling my SkyCaddie Touch and Izzo Golf Swami. I no longer use them as I prefer my rangefinder. Both are less than a year old and are in great working condition. No chargers are included, I just used my phone charger for them. (Micro USB I believe). $20 for the Swami $50 for the SkyCaddie Touch. Shipped to the lower 48. If you have any questions please feel free to message me. Chris
  4. I totally agree with everyone here. the 410's in their current state are a bad fit. I'm going to reach out to Ping and see what can be done. I don't believe it's just one thing, but a combination of factors that lead to the 410's in their current state not feeling right. I'm sure there are some phycology reasons but I really was hoping the 410's would improve my game. I can't tell you how many buckets I've hit on the range, it has improved the i10's though. With the i10's I'm zinging the 7 iron 150 carry now.
  5. Sounds like a good winter project, reshaft the 410's......
  6. romeopapazulu, the i10's have a stiff shaft the 410's have a regular flex shaft, I wanted stiff but the Ping guy told me my numbers were better with a regular, but it felt mushy to me. I should have pushed for the stiff shaft, but I did't. The i10's feel more solid to me and are more accurate from 100 yards and in. Another thing that bothers me about the 410's is the sole. It seems too large to me which is probably leads to the mental side of things concerning the 410's.I have already replaced the 410 wedges with my old wedges, the bounce was too much for me. For the time being I'm going back to the i10's and try to process why I felt it necessary to get the 410's. Bottom line is my game is much better with the i10's. Chris
  7. GSwag Exactly what I was thinking which is why I'm kicking myself for buying the new ones.
  8. Here in Michigan, as the season draws to an end I'm faced with a delimma. I started the season with a Ping 400 driver, i10 irons. Was doing pretty good, averaging in the low 80's. In July decided to upgrade my clubs and got a full set of Ping G410's. My thought was changing to a game improvement iron would, in turn, "improve" my game. Well....it did just the opposite. My game crashed hard. After talking with several members I hit the range. Long story short I was able to improve somewhat. Yesterday I played with the G400/i10's. WOW!!! It was a real eye opener. The 410's, my best was mid 90's, yesterday I shot an 81. Not here's my question....WHY? I only played the i10's for a few months as did I with the 410's, but the i10's are so much more comfortable and feel so much better than the 410's. And I'm trying to understand why? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Chris
  9. Just ordered mine. Bought a full set of G410' in July. Followed the link from Golf Spy MPR and it worked perfectly. Took about 5 minutes to download the app and order the sensors. I've tried GPS devices in the past and always returned to my rangefinder, so this will be an interesting trip to take.
  10. I bought new clubs around July and my game too went in the tank. After consulting a few of the better players as to possible fixes, it all came down to hitting the range and just work on ball striking, don't worry about ball flight or where it's going, just work on ball striking. I did that and was still playing poorly in my opinion. After much research for an instructor within a few hours of my location I settled on one near by. This was the fix I needed. After watching me hit balls for a while she made some minor changes, all of which sounded reasonable to me at the time. Went to the range and worked hard on the changes. Well, much to my surprise the changes worked!!! Dropped 10 strokes, got me back to a 6 hdcp and working to get it even lower, well at least until winter hits!!! For my 2 cents, get with an instructor you feel good with. I actually interviewed mine just to see what her teaching philosophies were, her thoughts on teaching golf before I paid for a lesson. That is what helped my with the new clubs. Good Luck.....Chris
  11. Great info on the over seeding. I will definitely look into that and plan my golf around that. Thanks for the link to the schedule tyler621.
  12. Great info, thanks chisag. I believe I'll give Aguila and Papago a try. this is one of the great things about MGS. Valuable information! Thanks guys. Chris
  13. No budget really, and within say a half hour of the Sheraton Phoenix Crescent Hotel. Just looking for something fairly nice, not crowded would be nice. I figure if I had tee times around 11 that would help keep the number of people down. Thanks, Chris
  14. I'm heading to Phoenix in November for a convention the wife has, I'm tagging along to play golf in Arizona. I'm looking at 2 different courses, Cave Creek and Starfire. Any thoughts from anyone who has played these, or if you have better suggestions. Thanks, Chris
  15. Had today off, so after the "Honey Do' List I grabbed my clubs at headed off to the golf course. Played the front 9.....had more than the normal sucky shots, so after the front 9 I got a large bucket of balls and headed for the range. As I really need work on my short game I grabbed the old PW for some 100 yard shots. At the range theres a smallish "green" measuring about 10 yards in diameter with a red flag in the middle. I actually hit the first shot really well, watched it sail through the air thinking how nice it looked, glanced down at the flag to verify that it was indeed on line with the flag. As it desended, feeling pretty good about the shot, then "plunk" !!! it landed about 5 yards short !!! "WHAT" , I was positive I had a good clean 100 yard shot, that sucker should have hit the little stinkin' green. Set up another...."smack" another good clean shot, looked awesom sailing through the air, then "plunk"....5 yards short. I thought to myself "how am I not making it to the green?" So this pattern continued, I'd chunk a few, I'd blade a few that sailed waaay over the little green. But the ones I struck clean, that sailed high and awesom all landed short. A real head scratcher for me. Finally after about 3/4 of the bucket I managed to land one on the green "SUCCESS" I thought. Well, guess I'll end the old PW on that note. As I cleaned the club to put back in the bag I lloked at the bottom "WHAT?" After all thoes shots, some real nice one's, finally making only one on the green, I realizied that I was hitting my Gap Wedge the entire time, for me the Gap is a solid 90 yard club....."DOH" a real Homer moment for me. I can tell you as I approach 60 that getting old is not for the faint of heart. I'm finding more and more that I'm making minor clubbing errors, that other day during league my approach was 90 yards out. "Easy" I thought, grabbed the GW, line up the shot...."swing!!!". Imangine my horror as I struck the ball clean only to watch it sail 30 yards OVER the green.....I look at the bottom of the club, and yep!!..you guessed it, I had a 9 iron, not a gap wedge. So now I have my league partner checking my clubs!!! (lol) Gotta love this game..... Chris
  16. If you could convince schools at any level to participate in a golf program for boys and girls either during gym class or after school, having clubs for those who don't have any, there's a strong possibility of drawing more to golf. Just my 2 cents. Chris
  17. Had my first lesson ever on Friday. I have nothing but great things to say about my instructor. Her name is Emily Rohdy at Buck's Run Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. If your anywhere in the area, and needing an instructor I would strongly encourage you to contact her. Chris
  18. No, I don't feel it, just thought I'd ask Thanks, Chris
  19. In an attempt to re-use good grips I've started using a compressor to remove the old grip. My question is how do I get the residual tape in the grip out? Chris
  20. Just picked these up and I'm looking for any information anyone has on them. Thanks, Chris
  21. Thanks everyone for your help. I'm going with the Club Glove with a Stiff Arm. Chris
  22. Had my first visit to a TopGolf center, Orlando Florida. First off, tried to make a reservation, no go!, When I pulled into the parking lot at 2pm on a Thursday, it was jammed full, not what I expected but I was there so I thought to myself, I'm here and I'm going to hit some golf balls. Checked in, 1 hour wait for a bay, not bad I thought, I can do that. Got my bay in about 20 minutes. The rules and workings were explained to me, the balls have chips in them for the video display so you can see what your ball did. They have several different games you can play, but as I was alone I was limited on that. I started with the game which had the target (about 150yards) divided into 9 sections, you have 20 balls to hit all 9 sections. Now, my go-to 150 club is my 8 iron. In this case I was 10 yards short. After several shots coming up short I examined the ball closely, there was a lot of wear and signs of having gone to thru the ball washer.....a lot. It was rather"clickly" coming off the club, not at all like the Bridgestone B XS I play, and toss in the chip in the ball, I figured I would need to rethink club carry distance. Sure enough, my 7 hit all 9 spots nicely with a couple of balls to spare. I really liked the chipping game, basically your chipping to 3 different targets at 25, 100 and 150 yards, which the 2nd and 3 targets really aren't chipping, but it's great short game practice. Played that one several times trying to improve my score. Didn't hit my driver, the rubber tee was too short and the back fence was only 220 yards. Over all it was a great 2 hours of hitting balls. And given the opportunity I would visit a TopGolf center again, just not Orlando....too peopley for me. Chris
  23. I've gone through and searched for thoughts on this question but can't find it, so I thought I'd post it. In November I'm traveling to Arizona by plane. I'm really stuck as to weather or not to take the clubs on the plane or ship separately and hard shell case or soft? For those of you who travel the airlines with your clubs, what are you thoughts? Chris
