  1. Good Morning from the big apple! Central Park is as close I get everyday to seeing a golf course this time of year. Bethpage is out there somewhere...
  2. Same exact feeling for me. It's all personal and I know soooo many people love white hot inserts, it's just way too soft for me. I had to go to something firmer which is why I recently ended up with the TaylorMade GTX. It was also super interesting to read about Xander Schauffele's putter change recently; how his old red Odyssey was too soft so he moved into a silver Toulon for the firmer feel, which Callaway then proceeded to paint red for his eye preferences.
  3. I'm currently 25, so this is a super interesting forum. At the minute I try to swing easy, always 80 or so percent, always just trying to hit fairways and greens. I'm still able to usually poke it 280 or so, but I don't know, I've just always enjoyed the look of Els and Couples, not young Tiger or Bryson. But I do wonder what would happen if i commit to going full tilt, I just don't like the idea of playing a fairway over. Love the opportunity to learn from those who have been around the game for years, even decades!
  4. Well we pulled the trigger. I've used my Stroke Lab for three seasons and liked it, but it was just too soft for me personally. I was convinced I'd end with a scotty or toulon, but I got to try the GTX this past weekend and pretty much fell in love with the stability, feel, and shape. I've been fit recently too so I knew these were my specs. Hopefully more made putts coming in 2023! (Not to mention the spider is 100 bucks less than the other options, so I picked up a dozen prov1x's to try out this spring)
  5. So I got fit for a putter at CC this past week and was basically told my current gamer is well suited to my stroke. That being said... I still got fit into a Scotty X 5 and the fitter was great in not pushing me to make a decision. Fitting was worth it as It's nice to know my self tinkering through the years led me to the right place. I really do not need to switch, but it's a Scotty and it felt soooo good... (debating!!)
  6. Three awesome rounds and a chance to hangout with the mother for her birthday. Also met some awesome playing partners and had the chance to hear some fantastic stories about where they come from, do for work, and what brought them to Orlando. Went 80-80-75 at Falcon's Fire, Grand Cypress Links, and Hawk's Landing - it has officially pushed the handicap down which I selfishly didn't want for February! Regardless a great chance to escape for a few days. More importantly, there was lots of beer and wine! Now back to NY to daydream of the possibility of March golf...
  7. After a long few months here in NYC without any golf, I booked a little trip for my mom and me to Orlando for her birthday for the long weekend. She doesn't play but I sure am going to! 3 rounds in 3 days and haven't been this excited to play in a while
  8. Don't know how this will land, but opted to sign up for a putter fitting (over a driver fitting) at Club Champion's NYC location for next week. Seeing as the flat stick is 40% of strokes, I'm hoping their SAM technology can help me find my forever gamer and at least begin to fix what is the worst part of my game! Will report back next week.
  9. Sounds like a dream compared to my little boxshoe apartment in NYC! There's a lot to love about this place but the inability to cater to my love of golf is not one of them!
  10. Cashed out pretty handsomely at the Super Bowl last night... ...thinking it may be time to finally look at the Scotty / Toulons I've been eyeballing for years
  11. Cool - good ideas all. Probably best to just give them all a hit (at the start) to see if there's any small difference then go for the fitting to see if I could really make some gains
  12. Totally agree, just trying to self justify potential tech gains before I drop $175 just for a fitting in NYC lol
  13. Really just curious about everyone's opinion here. The Current Gamer: Taylormade M1 (2017 version) w/ Tensei Blue shaft Basically I've read the articles that say every 3-5 years is when you might see a real difference in performance. 2023 will mark the 6th year since this puppy came out. I like this driver, but some facts: The bad: - I got it on eBay, it isn't fit and I honestly have no idea if its right for me. - very inconsistent with it honestly, some days good other days really bad (that's really just me and my swing, but could fitting help? Don't know) The good: - I like the way it sounds and feels still - I've kept in pretty mint shape. No sky marks, no big dings. Basically looks new after ~6 seasons. Basically I just want to know if people think that, after 6 years, I'd see any noticeable performance gap if I were to actually get properly fitted. I don't know how far tech has really come in that time. I swing ~105ish and poke it 260-275 most of the time so I'm not very short or long, but sometimes wonder, hey maybe I'm capable of 10-20 more yards. Thoughts? Cheers.
  14. Especially feeling like there are so many XV users across the forum, it has surprised me to see such little talk about the move to a 3-piece construction Super curious to see the changes to the new version.
  15. Likely just an extended weekend - either Thursday or Friday to Saturday. Myrtle seems quite doable - another we've begun to take a peak at is Turning Stone in Upstate NY which is closer as you mentioned. If anyone sees this that has played up there, would love some insight into the Champions Package and the experience!
  16. Awesome, appreciate the responses already everybody! Sounds like Myrtle may be a good first stop! Also, those were just a few rough ideas for locations. I'm going to dig through the forum for some other thoughts and ideas, but we're also open to any and all recommendation. Thanks again all
  17. Hey All, Hope this finds everyone well! So I was very fortunate enough to be an athlete in college, graduated 2 years ago. There is a group of 8 of us that played together and are transitioning over into the golf game! We're split pretty evenly between NYC and Boston, and looking to come together annually for a golf trip, this summer being our first. So two things: First) I thought it would be fun to document the process of pulling this thing together as a bunch of 24-25 year old amateurs Second) We would love ANY AND ALL recommendations for where we go on this first trip I'm probably the biggest golf nerd in the group and know course architecture and the best resorts well across the US. However, it's important to keep in mind we're young and none of us come from much; we're looking to do this thing on a NLU "Strapped" type budget. Not really, but we can't do Bandon, for example. So again, we'd love to bring you guys along for the ride here. To get started, any big recommendations, particularly eastern half of the United States? My first little shortlist (subject to change) is Northern Michigan and Myrtle/Hilton Head. We'll probably try to make it happen in June or July. Appreciate everything and excited to try and get this tradition off the ground.
  18. Man, been a while since I've been back on this forum. After a really long year at my old employer, with zero golf during that time, I made a move this summer and am finally making my way back to the game. It honestly feels so good to have it back in my life. Hasn't been a good summer score-wise, but what do you expect. I live in NYC and didn't play for a year. At the end of the day, the past two months since i changed roles i've played some amazing courses and am just happy to be along for the ride. Couple of pics from my round at Liberty National - boss took me a few weeks ago. It's definitely unapologetically modern, but still beautiful. Cheers.
  19. Hey all, Been a minute! Wanted to hop in to see if I could get some wisdom from fellow MGS mates. Have been having my greatest season to date, down to a 5 handicap, shooting in the 70s- but on Saturday, whoa. 91, and the club literally felt foreign in my hand. I wasn't mad and had a great time (laughed her off), but let's be honest, today all I can think about is what went wrong. And so I ask, how do you all shake off that one bad round and not overthink it all? Cheers
  20. Those Toulons are so nice, they just felt a little too firm for my liking. These HB Softs on the other hand feel like a marshmallow off the face. All preference, but those stroke lab shafts probably would have made it worth it.
  21. Usually wouldn't post about an ultra used club like this, but I think she's a goodie. Picked up this Cleveland HB Soft 11 w/ slant neck for 20 bucks last week. She may be old and a little beat up, but boy does this thing feel like butter. Went out and shot 74 at my Pop's home club last week (Previous best was 77, also haven't played in over a month and a half). She may have some dings and scratches, but I think that just adds character and honestly I don't see it leaving the bag soon.
  22. I have been playing the Z-Star for years now and love it - historically, they seem to release a new model every two years, making 2021 a potential time to drop a new lineup. Was wondering if anyone knows anything or has heard rumblings about whether or not they plan a drop (possibly not since covid)? If not i will capitalize upon the 2 for 1 deal going on right now! Thanks, Hit it Hard
  23. Was wondering if Taylormade has a beginning of season loyalty program for golf balls similar to Titleist, Srixon, etc (like a buy three, get one free)? Might be switching over as I really enjoy the pix ball and want to know the value in just waiting until the beginning of next season. Cheers
  24. Currently have a Ping g400 3 hybrid in the bag, but it just isn't launching high enough for me. I always hit my 5 wood well and have been looking at them online. Boy am i tempted... in the meantime, maybe back to my ole trusty, the OG Cleveland Launcher Steel that my Pops had in his bag in the 2000s
