Eseay32
Hey y’all. Been a couple years since I’ve been active here but trying to get back. In my hiatus from MGS I didn’t get better. I’m probably not alone but who struggles from the range to the course? I used to be pretty good, and still am usually, but I have MAJOR driver issues (tee ball in general). I can pound driver on the range and never miss one and walk to the first hole and hit 14 balls that never smell the fairway. It’s maddening. Have gotten lessons for the same thing to happen. It literally is costing me 10-12 shots per round and I’ll shoot 85 with the trouble. Anyone know a good psychiatrist?
Knoxville, TN 8 Hdcp PXG 0811 10.59deg loft Ping G25 3 wood Titleist 2i rescue Ping I irons +1 upright Vokey Sm5 52, 56, OdysseyRed 2Ball Fang with 1.0 super stroke
Link to comment
GolfSpy_APH
When you are on the range and using driver are you doing drills? What are you practicing with driver? I have had similar issues with driver where the range is great or seemingly great, but on the course no so much. I try to find a single swing thought and that has helped, but also narrowing my focus on the range and actively looking for a specific shot type. My driver or off the tee is often my weakest part of my game and is what I practice the most and narrowing my practice to be more specific as well as gaining that single swing thought to carry over is what really helps me transfer those swings from the range to the course. as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout! Scott Fawcett talks a lot about this in his DECADE material and the mindset shift that occurs when going from range to the course. Basically, driver in particular is easier on the course because you're not scared of anything...no consequence to your bad shot. But when you get on the course, there is plenty of consequence and so you get into a "don't" mindset, as in "don't hit it in the water" etc, etc. Something to be said for having the right mindset on the course no doubt. I'd also be curious about how you're practicing driver and the dispersion and flight you typically see on the range, versus the lines you take off the tee on the course. Eseay32
On the range whether practicing or warming up I’m picking two targets to call the fairway. Trying to keep it between the two. On the range you can lay a blanket over 98% of them. My shot is either a straight ball or a little fade with all clubs. My course driver ball is a GIANT block slice- like a fairway over it off the course.
Knoxville, TN 8 Hdcp PXG 0811 10.59deg loft Ping G25 3 wood Titleist 2i rescue Ping I irons +1 upright Vokey Sm5 52, 56, OdysseyRed 2Ball Fang with 1.0 super stroke
Link to comment
