  1. I will go further... My wife has caught me in the middle of the night, standing in our bathroom taking no club practice swings in the multi angled mirrors to check my positions. not proud of it, can't say it won't happen again... haha.
  2. I have the DF 2.1 in my mix as well... definitely a FULL MALLET on that baby. Similar to your comments, I have always prefered a blade putter for the increased "feel" for distance control. But for alignment, the DF 2.1 is money, and I can say the same thing for the 2Ball Ten I have. I have never tested a Scotty mallet - maybe next year, so I can't talk specifics about that model... It will be interesting to see how long the new equipment stays in Scheffler's bag... my opinion is... a blade putter golfer only takes short trips to other shapes and models, and usually quickly returns after even one bad day on the greens. I can justify a horribly day of putting with a blade by blaming myself... but I tend to blame the putter more when I have a mallet in my hand..haha.
  3. PLB 45-L in hand. Will be visiting my golf shop this morning to get it fitted with the titleist tip, and discuss how to ensure it is at a D0 SW when gripped and fit into my TSi3. Probably won't have it in play until next week, but I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces. I need to go back and read where other landed on length. My initial thought is to match the length of my current shaft (standard length which I believe is 45.5) but wondering about 46"?
  4. Scottie Scheffler is making a big equipment change after frustrating finish to last season https://www.golfdigest.com/story/scottie-scheffler-big-equipment-change-frustrating-finish-last-season After becoming synonymous with a blade style putter, Scottie changed a mallet style to his bag to improve his putting. (see article linked above). "For me it's just really easy to line up, I feel like I'm more consistent with it," Scheffler added. "I feel like my ceiling's still the same. I can get hot with the putter and make a ton of putts, but I felt like my floor was a little too low last year, so hopefully this will be one of those deals that will kind of raise the floor." Scottie Scheffler is currently ranked World #1, but with Rory McIlroy close behind in the #2 spot - Will Scottie be able to hold on to the #1 much longer? Both Scottie and Rory are playing in the CJ Cup this week at Congaree and after the 1st round, Rory is tied for 3rd at -5 and Scottie is at Even par in a tie for 44th. What has your experience been with a blade v. mallet style putter? What is in your bag and why did you choose it?
  5. Don't downplay that... that is a harder distance for me than full mid iron shots! a 2 on the card is a 2 on the card Thanks for posting Gary... I'm sure your next round will be lights out!!
  6. Thanks for the lead @Golfspy_Lukes I will check this podcast and other podcasts with Pia and Lynn out for sure.
  7. Awesome Digi!! We are also looking at some of the SIM style competitions as well.. still ironing out the details on that... but yes... this is tee in the ground, pull your driver out of the bag and let 'er fly competition Maybe you can get a round or two posted in the weeks to come... you know... to get all tuned up for Season 2 start Thanks for the compliments.
  8. Season 1 is WELL UNDERWAY Tony!! I feel a little bad for all the Northerners having to watch the snow and ice through the winter.... a little bad. ( I probably jinxed myself now... unforeseen forces are being aligned by the golf gods to derail my "winter season" of golf... I'm sure!!)
  9. Not what I would expect when opening a CC box for sure. Hope it all works out quickly and easily.
  10. awww poor puppy. Hope he can have the cone of shame off soon.
  11. No problem Digi. Yes, the outline for the Weekly Virtual Tournament is in the Week 1 thread. (basically it is a net based score no matter where you play based on your course handicap). Here is the link for your reference: there are also some clarifications through that week 1 thread that may be helpful, but if you have any questions, just reach out and I'll do my best to answer them for you. So each week, we have a leaderboard and track any scores posted within that week's thread. At the end of the week, the low net score, most net birdies or better and longest drive winners get to sport a "Winner" badge on their profile for the week. This week, I also thought it would be fun to track the year to date scores, and since there is a decent enough model used by the PGA Tour (FedEx Cup) I borrowed that format for our use. So we will award points based on the weekly position on the leaderboard (with a few nuances as mentioned above in the thread such as only one score per week for the points awards). As an added bonus, the winner each week in the most net birdies and longest drive categories get bonus points on their total. So that is what this "MGS Forum Cup" is all about. It is basically a compilation of the weekly leaderboards from the Virtual Forum Member scores. I hope that helps clarify things. Really there is no scores to post in this thread, all scores are posted in the weekly thread... but this "Points" thread can have a lively discussion about where we all stand throughout the year :).
  12. Congratulations to the new testers of the White Box Pro V's. @yungkory @CarlH @Shapotomous @daviddvm @WaffleHouseTour @vandyland @ZMendle10 @RichL85 @PeterHenric @Mr. Mushball I'm looking forward to seeing how these balls compare to your current gamers - ProV or otherwise!
  13. Yes, there are a few moving parts @cnosil I will be as transparent as possible...mainly for the reason above... I make a mistake now and then and happy to correct any errors I make. But just trying to keep it fair and as level a playing field as possible for everyone. I love seeing multiple rounds posted each week on the weekly game - and all the reviews and comments of the rounds that come with it. For cumulative points... I think one round per week is the fair way to do it. As we progress through the weeks, I'll find some better ways to display the data... but bottom line, it is just a couple of fun side games for us members to "talk golf shop" about post rounds and have some friendly competition. I'm having a blast with it... I hope you all are too!
  14. Similar to Foz above, my golf season just get's a bit cooler in the winter months (one of the few things I really like about living in South Texas.). So I'm fortunate to be able to play through most of the winter - aside from the occasional tropical storm and 100 year freeze (why have all the 100 year events seem to be happening every few years these day????). Last season, I was ready to work hard on my game as I entered the December/January/February timeframe... but I had a stress fracture in my rib that put me on the bench for the better part of 10 weeks. My wife can tell you exactly how many days it was... because I kept reminding her. I have never seen her so happy that I was able to go to the course again. This winter, I am going to try to improve my golf strength, which will hopefully allow me to fight off the effects of old man time, and possibly even find a little more horsepower in my swing. I'm not sure I want to go full in on speed training, but maybe light speed training with the Rypstick.... but if I know me at all... if I see some results.. I'll dive in headlong. I just don't want to do more damage than good by an aggressive speed training protocol. If I pick one area to dedicate my time to in my game... it will be 100 yards in. Pitching, chipping and putting... I'm not breaking new ground by saying I can save more strokes per round by having a solid game 100 in. The last thing I will mention, and possibly the most important, is changing my mental approach. Focusing on the right things, spending time to improve my game, but realizing... it is a game, and to truly enjoy the experience... no matter what the scorecard says. That is the biggest lift for me. I look to the following post for motivation... you should too
  15. The VR aspect is intriguing.. but the hardware required would quickly move it from an immersive golf experience to a video game (I think Wii Sports. - It was a blast... but it wasn't playing golf. haha). All the things required as mentioned above would be barriers for me (goggles, wands, haptic gloves) - or at least would limit me from feeling like I'm actually playing golf. I will say the advancements are staggering in this area, and I would do it for pure entertainment value - I mean... I spent a small fortune on Golden Tee back in the day... The mention of TopGolf has me cautiously optimistic.. if they could provide the "stand alone golfer" experience and minimize the paraphernalia (maybe perceived) to actually hitting golf shots and watching them inside a VR setting... I'm in. You asked which course(s)... the easy answers... Augusta, St. Andrews, Pine Valley (call out to @Golfspy_Lukes). But, really any course done realistically would be fine by me.
  16. I have played a bit between Tucson and Nogales (Tubac, Rio Rico) when visiting family in the area... Those pictures remind me of my rounds there. Now that I think of it... I visited in the "I Hate You" season ... haha.
  17. Are you on a golfing trip Vandy? I'll have to look up Barnsley Resort, I'm not sure I've heard of that one...
  18. You are correct Badger, I entered your Net Birdie points on the wrong line. And for the week you won that, MattF had an equal amount of net birdies - but since he was the overall score winner and captured 1st place points in the MGS Forum Cup, you received the full 150 points for your Birdies victory. Also, I didn't outline this specifically, but the weekly leaderboard standings may be different when calculating the points - because only one score per member per week is carried into the MGS Forum Cup points calculation - so the actual position points awarded may change. For example, in week 1 - you are in T20 on the leaderboard, but since one of my scores above you was removed, your points were calculated on T19 points. Hopefully that isn't too confusing The updated points total for you is 385, putting you in 7th place in the YTD points. You received 45 points for T19 in week 1, 190 points for 3rd place in week 3, and 150 points for the most net birdies. = 385 points total. Let me know if you have any questions and thanks again for keeping me honest
  19. I will double check the points calc first thing in the morning Badger, and also fix the leaderboard in week 1. Thanks for the heads up.
  20. For me, it is a proven (at least by others on the thread) shaft at an attractive price for an experiment. The top of the list for a higher priced version would be the Auto Flex itself I'm not quite ready for that investment on a what if
  21. Thanks for the update AZ. There is a HUGE amount to be said for not feeling like you have to 'activate' the shaft during the swing. I may be putting words in your mouth, but it sounds like you are able to let the more flexible shaft do the "heavy lifting" to get the same performance from you having to do it. Winner as far as I can tell! Received my PLB today, will be taking it to the shop Friday to get it spec'd out and "ready for launch" (I had to... I live in Houston )
