Guessing not too much experience or interest in the shaft, but for the few that might be interested, here’s the low down From a conversation with a reputable fitter, this shaft is supposed to be the bee’s knees, very stable and consistent. In playing with it this past weekend, I’d have to agree. Very predictable ball flight, when I want to hit it high, the ball is high, when I want it low, it goes low. Only time the shaft caught me off guard was when I tried to step on it a bit. The shaft was a bit “slow” to coming around and left me with a slight push. Very possibly me just getting too quick or something but this isn’t an issue with the white board. Now…there really isn’t a reason for me to step on a 4/5 wood, as it’s more of a position club vs a distance club, but you get that itch once in a while. Overall great shaft and this set up (917F2 18* @ 17.25 w/ Diamana TB 70S) is definitely a weapon I’ll keep in the bag for a long time.

A bit of a rookie question, especially considering I've been playing 15+ years. I've always played a ball with a bit less spin (old school Pro-V1x and then Bridgestone B330) but in coming back to the game a year ago, I've gravitated toward a ball with a bit more spin (Bridgestone Tour B XS) for increased greenside control. Something I've noticed is that the XS has a lot more curvature in flight than other lower spin options (AVX, Vice Pro Plus, Tour B RX, Tour B X, new ProV1). Does the XS' higher spin result in more side spin also or are they completely different? Looking at the 2021 MGS Ball Test, driver spin rate varies only by 100-200 RPM and by 700+ RPM with the 8 iron between the XS and the lower spin options, which doesn't seem like much on a <7 second flight. Makes me think it isn't ball and just me, but I had to be sure before searching for a different ball.

Hey all, just picked up a Diamana TB 70S for my 917F2 4/5 wood (17.25*) and looking forward to hitting it this weekend. My understanding is that this is in essence a blue board (mid kick, mid flight, mid spin) shaft which is what I've been looking for. After a quick search across the forums, I didn't see anyone post their experience with this. Anyone have experience with this or any of this lineup? What'd you like? what'd you dislike? What model SonarTec do you have? I used to play the GS Tour and loved it. Absolute rocket of the tee and predictable off the fairway. Man I miss that club.

A bit of old and new. Proforce V2 (purple and gold) and the white board for driver. Graphite YS7+ and the blue board for fairway.

No clue…the stickers on the shaft all show S300, but when I took it into the shop to get my grips changed out, the guy said he’s never seen anyone play with different shaft flexes in their irons before and was asking why I decided on doing that…and I just gave him a . Come to find out, some of the shafts had a CPM showing regular, while some were showing x-stiff. Explains why I was gravitating towards certain irons and avoiding others during a round (choke up on an 8 iron vs hitting my 9). Don’t know if the brands are actually different. Weird thing is the serial numbers on the iron heads all match up.

When getting back into the game after a long hiatus, I purchased a set of used MP-60 irons that seemed to be in pretty good condition. After playing a few months and getting the cobwebs off my game, I've come to realize the irons are all over the place when it comes to swingweight, length, loft, lie, different shaft stiffness, etc. I've heard that Mizuno offers a service where you can send them your irons and they'll "rebuild/refit" them to the correct specs, for a fee. Does anyone here have experience with this? or can share any ideas on best approach to square things away? Considering this route or selling off for someone looking to tinker at home.

Interesting thoughts here...in my case, I suspect that in a way to improve financials at the club (private), they ran a 'no initiation fee' special for a half the year while implementing green fees for all member levels (i.e. my membership level included unlimited green fees 7 days a week but turned into green fee + cart for all 7 days, on top of the monthly dues). The no initiation fee special resulted in a large influx of new members in 2020, which was the desired effect but many of the new members very very new golfers and some relying on the club's rentals for the first few months resulting in a downturn of the general. To your point though, not sure what the new member demographics were though.

Sounds like the place to be to get beaten into submission until you get your game up to snuff!

That's an interesting point/stat...the shift in the golfing community to private clubs vs public. With the number of private clubs greater than public, there must be a demand for it. Wonder if the private club demand is increasing and outpacing the number of golfers on public courses.

When not deployed, I frequented Camp Lejeune’s Paradise Point. 2-18 hole course where 1 was open to all military and guest and the other was military and guests with an established handicap. Best private experience ever. Fast rounds, great condition and everyone did their part to keep things squared away. I’m going to have to take a look around my area for any on base course! That’s a sick jeep/cart!!

I’ve actually been considering this recently as there is a highly rated semi-private within 20 minutes of where I live, but looks like they have a waitlist, so I might have to visit as a non-member for a while and scope it out more Glad your situation resulted in an optimal position for you and your group! Definitely not my favorite, but a hole I NEED to play again. 3rd hole at the Pete Dye Challenge at Mission Hills Country Club. Played in a 2 day tournament in 2005 and was awarded a 13 on this hole. Needless to say, I didn't win a skin there nor was I in contention for anything...to top it off I had the pleasure of answering the dreaded "what happened there?" question. One day, I'll have my revenge. #stillabitbitter

There are a few courses in my area that offer season passes. I might have to check that out.

I recently signed up then cancelled my private club membership after 6 months when I realized members didn't care to repair divots, rake bunkers, destroy practice areas, and monopolize tee times (just in case they decided to play)...all to say, not a good experience. And the pace of play was not any better than any public course (5 - 6.5 hours when stuck behind the wrong group, thinking they're playing on tour). With that rant aside, where do you all play? Public vs Private? Same home course all the time? Rotation of courses in and around your neighborhood? With a club/consistent group of folks?

I actually went through a similar test you did over the summer, looking for an alternative to my current gamer (BXS). Almost all aspects of the BXS is great but there are times where it spins too much, especially on fuller PW. Also, I've noticed that the BXS is a bit harder to control off the driver...for me...occasional backspin like crazy (>3000) and cuts and fades are really hard to control. Combine the spin rates of the AVX from tee to fairway, trajectory of the ProV1, spin rates of BXS out of the rough and around the greens, and feel of the AVX...aka unicorn!

The relationship of distance and speed for lower compression balls and swing speed...eye opening...Goes against the "bro science" of low compression = less distance and more spin...just depends on how fast your hitting it. I'm with @vandyland...my driver links up with the high speed but my irons are decidedly on the mid speed category. I'll just take that as I can play from both categories...I gravitated toward the Tour B XS (it did most everything I need it to do without sacrificing the feel that I enjoyed) but might need to check out the Tour B RX...seems like it could help with the occasional "super spinner" drives. TM SLDR with a Matrix Ozik white, playing at 45.5”. There were rounds where I couldn’t hit a fairway and some rounds where I struggled to just stay on the hole I was supposed to play, but on that rare occasion when the planets and stars aligned…it was a low spinning, high launching missile.

That’s the 1 training aid I own and use with my 6 year old daughter! For a moment, I wondered if this was making me more “steery”. TBH…These days, my daughter has been straight out beating me in our race to 15 consecutive down the ruler…I may have to stay up after she goes to bed to get some more practice in
