  1. I started with a swing caddy about four years ago, but transitioned to a Shot Scope V3, that lasted about 150 rounds and finally died the beginning of this year. That was replaced with a V5 which I love. I have an indoor range nearby that has G4s. The majority of my tracking is on the V5 and shotscope app/URL. The one drawback to both is that there isn't a way (that I have found anyway) where you can track accurately full shots vs. finesse shots vs. chipping with or punching with a particular club. E.G. Full shot with 6 iron 175 carry, need to hit a cut maybe 160, punch out 140, chip with 25-35 yards. On shot scope these all get aggregated for an average, and this is where the notebook comes into play.
  2. Had two oops moments which resulted in bogey both times. Otherwise I was on track for my best round ever. Even on the front and ended up 4 over on the back. Had two birdies lip out on 14 and 15. On the 16th pulled my driver horribly left, punched an 8 iron to try and get back in position, caught a branch went straight down….gap wedge into the green, had 31 feet to the pin and rolled it IN!!!!
  3. Good morning all, This is my altruistic weekend helping my best friend reorganize the house and do some painting. Got to So-Cal at 1a this morning and got to work, it’ll be a long day but totally worth it. And I noticed 3 courses near by so good thing my clubs never leave my car. I can’t think of a better reward than playing a new course tomorrow . Helping a friend out, and playing golf tomorrow while the kids are at camp, a great weekend all around. Cheers
  4. You know you’ve still got a chance when your top pick missed the cut…(not likely) still has been a great tourney to watch. Plus I feel better about my game and some of the scores I’ve had when I see 2 different pros with a sandman 8 on a 123 yard par 3. Perspective….
  5. Date 07/18/2024 Course Name Pajaro Valley Golf Club Gross Score 78 Course Rating 70.6 Course Slope 125 Gross Strokes over/under par 6 Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 291 My rounds have been variable this past month, seems like I can get a decent/good round in either before or after a blow up round. Thankfully today’s round was on the better side. The fog was so thick on the 1st 6 holes, visibility was about 100’. the front and back were same score wise +3/+3. Just one natural birdie today on number 7, 127 off the tee, 14 foot putt and a good roll. I will attribute 2 bogies on the front to the fog, couldn’t see the pin so I went “safe” at front/middle of the green and neither worked out… best part of the round playing the par 3’s and par 5’s even. More work to follow, trying to get back to consistent rounds. Some wild friends were out this morning…..
  6. Cut line +2 (73) Scoring average Sunday 72.4 (+1.4)...... Good luck everyone! Rory is going to get redemption this year.

A decent round today, not terrible but filled with missed opportunities, bad breaks and luck that wasn't in my favor today. Just to note though, the course is preparing for the City amateur tourney next week and the course reflected that today. Tucked pins, cut and rolled greens. I think conservatively these were running at 12-12.5. So my up/down and recovery numbers went down from yesterdays round. A great example of the speed and firmness of the greens; 9th hole is ~530y par 5. I had about 135 yards in, the green slightly below my position in the fairway. The green slopes from the back to the front and the pin is in the back, 158 yards to the pin. I hit a high PW (46º) to land just short of the green. I landed on the front apron, the ball released rolled toward and past the hole ending up about 2 feet into the 1st cut behind the green.... Played the front with 4 pars and 5 bogeys. The back was scored similarly, with one shining moment, chipping in on 11 for birdie (about 30 feet). Back was 7 bogeys, 1 par, 1 birdie....

Had a terrible round Saturday last week and spent the 4 days in between trying to figure out the issues, back to basics and good course management. Played the front even (1 birdie/1 bogey/7 pars). Had a couple really good saves including 30’ putt for par! Back nine started with an 8’ birdie that lipped out, followed by a pair of bogeys. Reached the par 5 12th in 2! But ran the eagle putt just high on my line, with a tap in birdie. The balance of the back was a bogey and par flipflop to the finish. My optimism says my game is on the mend, fingers crossed
  9. I Think that the idea of playing "at pace" is considered by some to mean you need to rush.... Unfortunately, the way people learn to play golf now, it seems that etiquette is not one of those learned behaviors anymore. In general terms, I have never played a course that should have taken more than 4-4.5 hours. I think that a four hour round should be the target. Everyone in the group should be preparing to hit their next shot when the player that is up is hitting. If that is done a sub 4 hour round walking is easily achievable. Consider roughly 4-5 miles are walked during a round, a walking speed of 12 min/mile nets 48-60 minutes. Assuming bogey golf in the group and an average of 30 seconds to complete your shot (since you've already gotten ready while others are hitting), that's 3 hours for four people to hit 360 shots. One of my regular courses is Del Monte in Monterey CA (6400 Y 71.6/131). Walking playing the 1st tee time by myself a 2.5 hour round, in a group of 3 or 4 we play it between 3-3.5 hours. No one is rushing, but everyone is paying attention. Riding cuts 20-30 minutes off those round times. Things I have seen/conditions played in to keep pace of play moving: 1. Expectations given in the pro-shop when checking in e.g. 4.5 hours to complete the round, let faster players/groups play through. Fix divots, fix ball marks on the green. 2. Early tee times (say before 10a) require the use of a caddy 3. Early tee times require a verified index of X 4. Marshals, like the starter who makes sure people are teeing off on time, marshals can do the same on the course. I think this all really goes back to etiquette and expectations. If you want to take 5+ hours to play, go ahead and do that, but when faster players/groups are behind you, let them PLAY THROUGH. My 2 cents anyway....

This was a round full of opportunities lost and sheer lack of concentration. With a few splashes of good golf. The front started bogey, double and ended with bogey, bogey, bogey. The back was pars to 13, then double 14, par 15, birdies on 16 and 17, then double 18
  11. A lot of the Northern CA courses during summer are between 6-7 depending on the venue, but I have a couple of courses I play late June through July have 5:15 tee times. I will play as early as I can, if you tell me it’s a 5a start I will be there. Slow play really does no favors to my game. The handful of courses I play regularly I can get a round in (going out first) in 2 1/2-3 hours, comfortably playing and with other like minded players. One of the courses I play in Monterey has a 0$ replay, so on a Saturday or Sunday I’ll tee off at 5:30 or so, finish by 8 or 8:30 have breakfast with my friends who sleep in and drag them out for 18 and be done by 12:30 or 1. With a full afternoon and evening for whatever else sounds good (or the honey-do list….)

I love the ball flight in hot/humid weather. Todays round was much better as I felt like I knew the course a little better, but bent greens proved to be a challenge!! 6 bogies, a double, 10 pars (3 of which were birdies that didn’t drop/lip outs), and a birdie. 16 is a 340 yard par 4 downhill about 15 yards tee to green. I drove it to 10 yards short of the green, chipped to 6 feet and finally made a birdie putt. A lot of challenging placement shots needed to get around the course. Front 9 moves toward the ocean and the back 9 is mostly going back into the hills and canopy. Caught the back bunker on 7, green slopes away the gorge and natural vegetation area protecting the front of the green….”my caddie says have you ever putted from the bunker? You should try that here…..” it actually worked, I got it to about 8 feet from the hole putting back up hill and made it!!
  13. Happy Fathers Day from Jamaica. took the family for a great vacation, got to sneak in a couple of rounds @ Cinnamon Hill GC. This has been a great vacation!!

Even par and this day is going great, then the wheels on the bus fell off. Holes 10-15 couldn't make the score card without a shape the one good part in that stretch was a circle on the par 5 13th. Driver, 5 wood to about 30 yards short of the pin. The Scottish special, gap wedge runner uphill and a couple feet of break to 8 feet below and right of the pin (which is the right place to be for this pin). The bogey train had two more stops on 14 and 15 before leaving for the day. I caught the fairway bunker on 16, but followed that up with a great 6 iron from 170 out and made par. Parring out the back 9 for a 5 over 77. 2 birdies, 10 pars, 5 bogies and a double.....Getting closer. Playing another round in the morning, then off to Jamaica (three or four rounds, hopefully )
  15. GREAT CUSTOMER CARE. This has been by far the best experience I have had with any golf company regarding item repairs/replacements. I take good care of my equipment and feel like the age and condition of it shows that. I just recently got a V5 to replace my V3. I've been using it for about 3 months when last week I noticed what I thought was a mar on the bezel. After further investigation I realised that the bezel was cracked across the whole glass. I contacted Shot Scope and after sending a few pics of the issue, they are replacing the unit. More over, they reimbursed me for the shipping and sent the replacement when I provided the receipt from USPS for the return. I will be without the watch for less than a week!!!! As a comparison my new irons, I had the head of my 5 iron come off during a round. I contacted Callaway, they covered the return shipping but took three and a half weeks to get me the replacement....

I had at least 4 birdie putts horseshoe out. The best part of the round was a handful of poor shots/ bad lines off the tee put me without good options for my next shot, but I took the time to find the shot I could hit to advance the ball and was able to get save par three times. Fairway numbers down but GIR up. Putts increased as well (those putts that didn’t fall…..)

The round started with a scramble for par, a lipped out birdie on 2 and from there it went down hill. 2 bogeys, a triple (easiest hole on the front), another bogey, par, double, bogey. +8 on the front. The back nine found my rhythm, birdie on 10, I was back to even by 16 and bogies 18 for a 1 over back 9. +9, 81 for the day.
  18. I have stopped playing scrambles with the idea my team would have a shot at winning. I really avoid them unless it’s for a good cause and in that case it’s all for charity and I get to have a good time with friends and a few libations. The last one I played in was for a local high school, raising money for the sports programs. The top five teams were low 50’s, winning score was a 49 (21 under). The only part of it that seemed straight up was the closest to the pin contests as they had a proctor viewing the tee shots in the event a hole-in-one prize was to be awarded. I really like the idea of running a scramble with twosomes paired with another teams two.

Next four holes were even including a good up/down on the par 3 6th. Bogey on 7 was followed up with a birdie on 8. 2 over on the front. Back 9 great tee shots, continued issues with the long irons/fairway metals that don’t seem to have any desire to cooperate and 3 lip outs garnered a 3 over 39. 77 with 31 putts.

Off the tee I was playing well but was plagued with the long iron/fairway metal issues that seem to not want to get better…4 bogeys and 4 pars the front was 39 with 15 putts. Back 9 started slow with a bogey but that was the last one!!! I played 11-18 2 under with birdies on 15 and 18. 35 on the back with 11 putts
  21. Three rounds in this week so far, with a tournament this Saturday. The week started off poorly with a serious lack of Mindset….1st round was 42/41 and 36 putts, the food that came from that round was figuring some things out and applied them for the next round. The Mindset was back on track for round two started with a birdie, had a bit of a sloppy stretch going to the turn finishing the front +3 and 15 putts. The back 9 is where the fun started bogey on 10 finishing 11-18 minus 2 with birdies on 15 and 18 and 11 putts!!!! Best round in years….. Today was good as well, long irons and fairway metal created some issues but I was able to get my Mindset back on track. started the round bogey/bogey with one more on 7, but followed up with a birdie on 8. Front 9- 38 with 15 putts. 3 more bogeys on the back 39 with 16 putts. 77 with 31 putts. And a sand save!!

It was a less than preferred round, too many missed putts….33 putts on the day, 0 for 7 on putts inside 15-18 feet. Saving grace on the round was most definitely off the tee and inside 100 yards. Fairway misses held to one side, strokes gained off the tee. proximity on approach was good as well, if my putter was working today this would have been a great round for me. next week it will be better or my putter is going on timeout….
  23. Next batch of rounds completed. 3 rounds between Sunday and this morning, I am really liking the process (when I can focus enough to use it). High's and lows from the rounds. Highs-Driving has been more consistent and the ball feels great off the clubface. Around the green, chipping/pitching has been going really well also. My up&down percentage is up 10 percent --@40% . More to do with my game than the ball or mindset has been approach and putting. Lows- 30 greens of 54 holes played. The smother hook came back to visit today.... Lots of 2 putts, and it seems that the only 1 putts I can make at this point is to save par. 6 birdie chances yesterday, only converted 1..... When I feel like I can REALLY apply the mindset, the game is good. Practice this weekend and three rounds next week. Happy golfing
  24. I am seriously considering a move away from the 4i to a 7w, at least for a while. My 4 has been very inconsistent and I am getting killed in that distance bracket because of it. On the list for testing, waiting for the next demo day(s), should be by early June....
  25. @GolfSpy_APH-Is there a format or template you would like me to use for the final review? timing? I was planning on completing that this week. Thank you
