I grew up in the 70s where b&r w/ 7 or 8 iron was the play around the green. Most had a PW at best then, lucky ones had a SW.
In many ways I think it was simpler then. You didn’t have a bouquet of wedges to chose from, or swanky golf balls to work on the green.

    I find it easier/more confident to b&r than worm burn a wedge… 😂🤣

Have a question for the group and more experienced golfers. As a relatively new golfer, I’ve only been playing for two years and started late in life I’m 56. I’m really trying to break 100 now I leave a lot of strokes on the putting green but also in my shorter game. I’ve heard two schools of thought one keep grinding away on chip shots….and the other says learn to bump and run. it’s a Safer play what does everybody here think?

I first joined because of the MGS YouTube and podcast. I quickly found as a high handicap relatively newer golfer that my questions were met with authentic responses rather than the typical you suck at golf responses on other forums. This is a great place to learn and comment about golf for me.

love the fact that I can get outside and play with my friends  like to walk the course  easier to get I to the woods to find my ball
loved the my golf spy podcast and the forum seemed like a fun place to interact.
live in Santa Cruz. Love being able to play all year. Courses are not in the best shape with a lot of traffic. Home course is seascape. Fun place to play.

Just retired from over thirty years in the Fire and EMS service. Love that I can play golf as much as I want..if I could afford it.

For my slower swing speed my favorite ball is the Taylormade tour response. I actually use the stripe version of this ball. It’s soft enough that it gets me off the tee and does provide some amount of spin for chip shots. Some people don’t, but I personally like the stripe especially for putting. It can be offputting in the fairway with the stripe lying sideways, but I have learned to not let it bother me. I think, feel and performance outweigh cost I know that the testing shows that regardless of Ability the pro V one may be the best, but I’m sticking with the tour response
