  1. Date 05/06/2023 Course Name The Ridge at Castle Pines North Gross Score 85 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 14 Net Score to Par 1 Net Score 72 Net Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 343 Decent round out there for me today, not anything spectacular except the driver was ON. Had a 343 drive and a few more in the 330s as well straight and in the fairway
  2. I went to xgolf yesterday and am trying to get some updated yardages based on an attempt to slow down my swing and hit more flush and consistent shots. I was hitting my PW about 138 carry, 8i 161 carry, 5i 198 carry. I determined that after getting those yardages that I could go off of my previous estimates and subtract 5 yards to get my new setup. I know the biggest part of my game that needs improvement is GIR and being able to do that with my lower irons is critical, and I have had major accuracy issues and contact issues in the past, so hopefully slowing down the swing helps! I'll be playing 18 this weekend and trying that out. Really hoping to break 80 for the first time and swap out my badge!
  3. Everything finally came together yesterday afternoon (except for the driver per se, but the course was open enough so that I didn't get killed by right flying toe-bangs). Every Tuesday I get a quick 9 in after work with my coworkers, but after shooting +3 on the front (I'm a 14.5 hcp) I decided to go back to the pro shop and pay for the following 9 since the course wasn't too busy. It was cloudy and slightly windy with a HIGH chance of rain, but through the whole 18 I avoided even a drop of water. Back to what went right this round, my irons. I stuck more greens and put more shots on the neighboring fringe this round than ever before. I got Ben Hogan's 5 fundamentals of golf and I'm already trying to work on a more consistent swing. Yes, I did loose a couple yards on each iron. Yes, that has led to more consistent shots at the green. Also, I should note that this course, for being a municipal course, probably had the greenest and most well manicured fairway and green grass I've seen in CO this season. I'm doing the OnCore Vero X2 test and I finally gave these balls a chance to show their might and I have to say that I am quite pleased with the results and am very glad to have given myself this good of a round to test durability, usability, workability, etc...
  4. Date 05/02/2023 Course Name Springhill Golf Course Gross Score 70 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 6 Net Score to Par -7 Net Score 57 Net Birdies or better 9 Longest Drive 311 This round really dropped my handicap... I really felt like I started to come into my own with my iron play and kept way more shots than I'm used to in play.
  5. My brother @ColeM and myself are joining an XGolf league near us and I had my handicap setting round. I always knew that I could perform better on simulators but WOW, I managed to put up a respectable 71 (-1). I believe that Cole is going in this afternoon to get his round set up, as we are playing as a 2 person team (not sure of the scoring format yet).
  6. First impressions are up! I am already a couple rounds into my testing and have made some observations that I am excited to share with the community. I have also read over tons of responses from a thread I created a couple weeks ago regarding the longevity of most peoples golf balls, but I would love to hear suggestions for ways the communitsy would like for me to test these as well ontop of playing round, practicing at chipping greens, simulator work, etc.
  7. Date 04/30/2023 Course Name Eisenhower GC (Blue Course) Gross Score 94 Course Handicap 14 Gross Strokes over/under par 22 Net Score to Par 8 Net Score 80 Net Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 312 Not my best outing for sure - but I love competing in the virtual tournaments! Here's a picture of a mountain from the course for your enjoyment
  8. Played a couple rounds this weekend with the Vero X2 balls and I must say that they do bare many similarities with the TP5x that I am used to playing. I hate to say, but these rounds were not my best (mostly user error) but I did find have some points where I felt the benefits of ball. I won't go too into detail as I will save my first impressions for my main review post (going up in the next couple days), but tldr I did notice that these balls didn't have as much off-the-tee spin out on the course vs the TP5x and the Pro V1x. I will post the details of my rounds in the How'd you play? forum. Overall, I liked the lack of spin and the durability of the ball, but I surprisingly felt as though shaping irons wasn't as workable as the TP5x (I will look into this on the simulator more this week).
  9. 04/30 I played at Eisenhower GC in Monument, CO (blue course, home of the US Air Force Academy) and kept Friday's trend of terrible play going. We had some skin in the game so I pushed onward for the back 9 and ended up shooting a respectable 94 after a 49-front. The weather was insane, and we were lucky enough to get a tee time after calling the pro shop right as a 4-some cancelled their time. Course conditions were okay, but the blue course definitely had some of the hardest/most protected greens that I've ever played. The course has crazy views of Pikes Peak and surrounding mountains which really make for an exciting experience. Best part was that winter rates for DoD Civilian rate was $35 for 18!! with a cart at 1:40pm on a Sunday! As for the Vero X2 balls, I noticed more of the same lack of spin off the tee box with I was happy with, especially given the tight fairways on even the par 5s.
  10. 04/28 I played at Raccoon Creek in Littleton, CO and it replaced the round that I was supposed to play at The Ridge at Castle Pines (Sad, I know) due to a snow closure further south of Denver. Raccoon Creek was open, but much wetter than a Coloradan golfer is used to... and I caved under the pressure. Shot a 97, but realized by the fourth hole that this outing would be better served as an opportunity to spend some quality time with my brother and drink a bit than try to score well, and we did just that! One of the guys in our foursome had an infection on his hand from a domestic cat attack, putted with one hand, and was in shorts and flip-flops, so the pace of the round was super casual. I am doing the OnCore Vero X2 ball testing and I was not giving them much benefit with my poor ball striking, but it was fun to take them out and get some good pictures nonetheless. No Stats for this round as I took it casual pretty on and my phone battery was too low to get a whole round recorded.
  11. Playing today with these balls and I'm super excited to report back my findings! Already made some interesting observations on the Vero X2 that differ from balls I'm more used to playing.
  12. Good Morning, pretty stoked for a tee time I've got this afternoon at 2:10pm. I'm doing the OnCore Vero X2 ball test for MGS and this is going to be my first round trying them out since they got in! I'm playing with my brother at The Ridge at Castle Pines in Castle Pines, CO and it's projected to be a little chilly... I won't use distance on this round as a huge factor in review since I know it's going to be colder than most rounds I've played so far this year with my V1x and TP5x, but nonetheless I'm excited to get out there!
  13. Sitting at work knowing these balls are on their way is getting the best of me... However I'll have a good course test tomorrow playing at the Ridge at Castle Pines! Can't wait to get some photos up for you guys in the How'd you play? channel.
  14. I've also been using golfshot for about a year now and I love the watch integration. Also, the ability to post to your ghin straight from the app with shot tracking stats included is pretty sweet. I agree with MissionMan that the watch battery tends to be the biggest hinderance at the moment. If you have anything older than a series 6 you will see issues nearing the end of an 18 hole round.
  15. Coming back to this thread now that I've read the MGS article about the Edel falling under new ownership. As a former Colorado School of Mines grad (which has a large partnership with Coors and CoorsTek in Golden, CO) I am even more interested in checking out what the company has to offer. Can't wait to hear how the testing goes and see for myself if they may be worth the pickup!
  16. I'm out in Denver as well, but I've never played either of these courses somehow. GVR is a little out of my way as I am closer to C470 but I just drove past common ground yesterday looking at some new construction townhomes. How do you like those courses? Common ground looked killer and I also know that it's the CGA HQ as well!
  17. Tied for my best round ever (scored both in the last 2 weekends!) and I am really feeling like I can do no wrong. Had a couple blowup holes that I recovered for double-bogeys. It's not very often that I don't score a triple or worse, but my greenside control has improved a little and has drastically improved my scoring. Also, putting is getting better while staying under a 2 putt average which is all I am looking for at the moment. It snowed on Saturday (04/22) about 3" but luckily my tee time was the following day at 3pm and the weather was sunny and 60 all day, so there was not even a drop of snow around the course AND the fairways weren't all muddy! My goal is to get below a 10hcp so I'm going to continue to push scoring and playing smart as I work towards that goal.
  18. Good morning... I'm starting to believe that there is a higher power doing it's best to stop me from playing golf in Denver. Between the 3" of snow that dropped last Saturday and the 2 days of rain followed by 2 more days of snow this week - I'm not sure when I'll get the opportunity to get off of the sim and onto some grass.
  19. Date 04/23/2023 Course Name Buffalo Run GC Gross Score 85 Course Handicap 15 Gross Strokes over/under par 13 Net Score to Par -2 Net Score 70 Net Birdies or better 7 Longest Drive 322 Had another great outing, after this round my handicap is dropping to a 14.5. Struggled on the greens because they were COVERED in sand. Very very slow. Tough winter conditions and the course was decently long (6500yds) but I haven’t had issues with distance off the tee recently thankfully. Good luck to everyone in this weeks competition!
  20. Wow guys - definitely didn't expect so much participation in this thread! Thank you for all of those who responded and I really appreciate the wide range of handicap players AND range of locations. I was surprised to read how much fall came into play and am personally a little worried once that time comes around this season out here in Colorado. I have read all of your responses (at least from before I posted this message) and will definitely use the aggregate of your experiences towards my testing for the OnCore X2 balls. Also, welcome to all of the newer members who commented!
  21. It'll be a nice little payday once they are lol
  22. As someone who is slowly getting better and gaining confidence to not lose balls, this becomes more and more true haha
  23. I have exclusively bought like-new clubs from pre-owned and they've all come wrapped in the original plastic. I'm almost certain most other companies would grade that as Outlet quality. I have enjoyed the numerous options they have for popular clubs and have been able to pick up (like-new) rogue 3w, apex UW, jaws full toe 54, 60 all for like $450
  24. I know there are so many different skill levels of golfers out there so I'm genuinely curious how long you guys play/don't lose golf balls while playing. Do you notice more lost balls on harder courses? Do most of you play the same ball when there's little to no hazard on the course? If you do play the same ball for multiple rounds, how many rounds do you end up keeping it? I am curious to know as I am doing the MGS OnCore X2 ball testing and I am curious to know how others value each individual ball not only from a performance perspective but a longevity one, since I assume most people aren't the most concerned with the durability of the ball after ~72+ holes of golf. As for me, my local municipal courses provide just about 0 water and wide fairways, so I can usually get through 18 with 1 (maybe 2) balls. However, if I do make it a full 18 with the same ball it usually finds it's way in the shag bag after one round.
  25. Played at the local Muni (family sports golf in Centennial, CO) and shot pretty well. Was supposed to be on a foursome at 6:40pm but the other 3 were no shows so I played 2 balls and kept score for both to see how different I played with a TP5x and a V1x and I played pretty similarly with each, but had a better outing with the TP5x which gets me excited to start playing it more. But allow me the chance to rant real quick - I'm not certain the pro shop has any awareness of what is happening on the course at any given time. No semblance of pace of play, no idea how many people are on the course. I walked in at 6:20 and was put on the 6:40 tee time under the impression that I may finish 9 before the course closes. However, I'm not sure what defines course closure but I was sitting on the 3rd tee box at 7:10pm (30min before sunset) and I got blasted in the back by a sprinkler!!! With the sun still out!!! I was mid swing with the V1x so I will blame a bit of the worse score on that should-have-been-birdie-turned-bogey and move on. But if you're going to allow people to play until sunset, don't super soak them 30 minutes after you send them out. V1x: 1/3 Fairway, 2/9 greens, 17 putts, +6 TP5x: 3/3 Fairways, 3/9 greens, 16 putts, +4
