  1. My first reaction was the tickets would be the way to go but after reading everyone's comments I think they have swayed me to play even though I haven't ever gotten to experience the tournament in person yet!
  2. After a week I think I'm finally ready to give my thoughts on the TEST balls. Sadly, I wasn't able to get out to a course as I had a family emergency this weekend that got in the way of getting on last round in to test these bad boys, but I was finally able to get to the local simulator so that I could get some concrete data. As this was my first-time using Trackman though I definitely didn't have it setup right, so instead of having the shots broken up by what ball was being used it was all together. So, I don't have as good of a breakdown as I wanted but anyways, I was still able to come to a couple of conclusions. I decided to use my 7 iron and Driver for testing as right now my wedges are so inconsistent, I didn't think the data would be very reliable. I used 4 different balls The TEST ball, ProV1X, TP5 PIX and Callaway ERC Soft. I would do 5 with the test ball and then 5 of a mixture of the others. Below are the dispersion charts for these. As you can see from the chart when it came to the 7 irons. There was no noticeable difference when it came to the TEST ball and the 3 others that I used when it came to accuracy, trajectory and distance. But when it came to the Driver that's where I saw the big differences. The TEST Ball had a little higher trajectory, generated more spin than the others and was also a good 10 yards shorter. With my last hour on the simulator. I decided to play nine holes, one with the test ball, the other with my usual gamer, Callaway ERC Soft. During these nine holes I once again I noticed that the TEST ball was shorter on almost every shot. Once I took that into account, I didn't see much of a difference between the two the rest of the round. When I was all done though I noticed that the TEST ball was really starting to show wear on it, while none of the other balls I used that day showed much wear at all. So inconclusion I can see that the TEST ball is not for me, I had never used an AVX ball before and now I don't really plan to, it just creates to much driver spin for my liking and the loss of distance is something that I just can't afford. Also, the durability with these is a big issue that I think they really needs to be looked at.
  3. First off I want to say thank you for allowing me to test as this is my time being chosen. After finding out I was chosen a couple weeks ago, I finally got the email late last week notifying me they were finally shipped and due to arrive Monday. Well after a shipping mishap (thanks FedEx) these bad boys finally arrived this morning! I went scavenging through my bag to see what balls I could find to compare the looks and weight of these to. I usually game the TaylorMade TP5x PIX ball or Callaway ERC Soft, so I compared these to those two along with a couple of different generation ProV1s and a ProV1X. As it's mention in previous post these appear to compare closest to the AVX but sadly I couldn't find any of those to compare them to. Of the ones that I have the test balls were closest to TP5X dimple wise. I'm going to see if I can get a hold of some AVX to see if what everyone is saying is true. For testing it will sadly have to be all inside as living in Minnesota has its disadvantages and with the temps dropping almost all the courses are closed for the year, so it will have to be just feel testing of putting in my basement and then hopefully I can get to a simulator at some point to get some concrete numbers. If we get a heat wave possibly some short game work in the back yard!
  4. Golf is such a funny a game. I was playing probably the worst round of the year and was ready to quit after 9 but low and behold the golf gods had other ideas after hitting a very short but straight drive down the middle for the first FIR of the day that left me with 250 in to the green. I hit my 3 wood really well but ended up just off the green. I thought ok I have a change to possible birdie at worst par, since my chipping has been awful the last couple of rounds. Yet somehow someway I hit the perfect chip took two bounces and rolled right into the cup for my first eagle of the year! It just goes to show you that even though I was playing so terrible just one shot can keep you coming back for more!
  5. I have only took one lesson ever and the tip he gave me changed my game forever. The tip was if your grip is wrong it doesn'tmatter how good your swing is. Ever since then as long as i focus on getting my grip correct before each shot I've played so much better!
  6. These look absolutely beautiful. With these and the new Titleist T series coming out it's making it extremely difficult for me not to upgrade next year
  7. I've always been drawn to a mallet putter, so my first putter was a no name brand just with a bigger head. When I started to take golf more serious in high school, I upgraded to an odyssey 2 ball center shaft. Which worked well but I never could get properly aligned. About ten years ago I upgraded to my current putter the Odyssey 2-ball white hot putter with 35' shaft that was not center shafted. This setoff the best putting of my life till about 4 years ago the grip had gotten wet and started to deteriorate. I put on a super stroke XL grip and that just doesn't have the same feel, this year I doubled down and put on the super stroke wristlock grip and it's been much better after getting used to it but still not to the same degree. Now I'm debating if I just go upgrade to a whole new putter next year or try and find an old stock Odyssey grip!
  8. I just bought this so I'm hoping this works as well as you say! I have some ClubDoctor cleaner so hopefully the combination of the two will do the trick!
  9. Just found this thread yesterday and I can sadly say that I've been golfing since I was three and have only really had one legit chance and it lipped out and rolled 4 feet away. So here's to hoping finding this thread will give me some better luck.
  10. I thought I would update this. My putting has been much better these last couple rounds. I spent more time on the putting green than I have the past 5 years and figured out I was standing to close to the ball and that I was too obsessed with the line being perfect and that was throwing off my putting stroke. I now use the line on the ball more for determining if my putter face is straight and that has made a world of difference. The other thing that I found that since I changed to a new super stroke wristlock grip I needed more forward shaft lean in order for it to roll straight! Hopefully some of this can help other people who were struggling like I was.
  11. That's a good point. Since they did though and introduced the team aspect into it, I hope the PGAT can do something with that involving all the top players, but like you mentioned hopefully without some of the annoying LIV things that they added that were definitely not needed. I'll watch no matter so doesn't make much difference to me!
  12. Why do you say that? Wouldn't it be a good thing that all of the best golfers in the world will now play against each other more? The money was always going to go up LIV just pushed it to happen quicker. I think in the long run this is great for golf but JM will get canned and rightfully so for all the backtracking he is going to have to do now.
  13. Congrats testers! Looking forward to your reviews and maybe will sway me for my next wedge purchase!
  14. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this news, but I'm hoping this means some of the big names on the PGA join some of the teams on LIV and then we can see some great team competitions going forward, instead of just stroke play every week!
  15. I have the UE BOOM 3 and love it! It's the perfect size to fit in the cupholder on most carts and delivers great sound with great durability. Highly reccomend!
  16. I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded my driver to the TSR3, after about 10 years with my Ping G15. The only clubs that I would say are safe are my Ping G10 3 wood, I know it's older but it's my most consistent club and have never been able to hit the newer versions as well, and my 3H TaylorMade M2, It's 90% consistent and don't want to tempt fate that a new one would do the same. Other than that, my TaylorMade R9 irons, 3-PW, have done me well but I'm starting to think newer irons would give me the extra distance I've been missing. I have two older Cleveland wedges that are both probably due for upgrades as I don't get much spin anymore and I'm starting to really struggle because of it! Finally, I have my Odyssey 2 ball white hot putter, boy do I have a love hate relationship with this thing. I've always used a mallet putter so don't think I could ever go to a blade putter. All my troubles started when the factory grip deteriorated so I replaced it with a bigger Super stroke grip which was nice right away, but I've been much more inconsistent. This year I doubled down and bought the new super stoke wristlock grip and so far I have mixed results, but the jury is still out on that!
  17. I joined like many others for a chance to be a tester, but what I found was a site that was much more than that! I've enjoyed reading all the different forums and hope to become much more active in the upcoming weeks!
  18. These look clean. Might need to demo these when they become available!
  19. It honestly depends on the day, but most of the time I'm scared to death if I have a 3-4 footer and that's just because I have no confidence my stroke will be the same each time!
  20. If it happens a second time. I'm waiting on the next tee box and I'm going to get in there face about it and if that leads to a fight so be it!
