  1. Did you pure the shaft when you ordered it? I am tempted to try this as well even with great results with the PLB.
  2. What is the updated Accra model for the FX? Do you happen to know? Online it seems like they have moved on to new lines of shafts.
  3. What is your favorite golf game? Do you have a separate game you like to play for $ and one just for fun? Play multiple types of games within a round? Let’s hear it! Some of the most fun games for players who don’t typically like to play for $ are ones that track a specific outcome as the round progresses (number of 3 putts… Snake, everytime a player hits a tree… Bear) and whoever is left as the last player to do so has to pay out. Engages everyone without score involved and spans easily across various handicaps.
  4. I saw both of the grips you mention for the first time a few weeks ago... very intrigued. They felt great in the store and I just put the MCC on my irons last season. Do you have them on all of your clubs? Did you like the Z cords better because they are bit firmer?
  5. Many times litigation is the only way to impact a competitor when the general feeling is the competitor isn’t playing fair. I am interested to see how this plays out. I am a SS user and have had a good time with it. I do remember watching their protocols, especially the introductory protocols, and hearing the results will vary and indicated some of their best results were in the 20+ yard range on course. The way a company shows gains is critical in this niche of golf. Also, the marketing claims that are made with the latest clubs and tech always always always have fine print associated with it. All of these companies are crafty… gotta give them that!
  6. I have two and each of them have 5 white marks in the middle. I use these for a quick ball position reference. Good to hear how others use theirs.
  7. I love the look and feel of the slightly smaller drivers, typically low spin models, but the forgiving nature of 460cc is too much to pass up imo. What do you use your mini driver for? Total replacement of “regular” driver?
  8. I am interested to hear how kids of various ages got involved in the game - I know it’s different for kids of all ages! Did they ride around with you in the cart on Sunday afternoons for a few years before gaining real interest? Do any work (play) at home before hand? Did they pick it up naturally? I have little ones (the oldest is 3) that I just bought a putter for. I am looking forward to spending time with her and hopefully seeing her enjoy it as much as I do someday.
  9. Another interesting component is front & back 9's may have different ratings - so how is that calculated here? The old system in my recollection would adjust appropriately as it took each individual 9-hole round by itself and then combined those to come up with an 18-hole differential. Definitely lead to opportunities to lower your handicap by combining scores from different courses. In the current system, how are they able to take a score from the front 9 with a 125 slope and project it to the back 9 with a 135 slope? I haven't seen any info on this... food for thought.
  10. Would the Otto Phlex concept work with these?
  11. I don’t think enough people have this concept in their arsenal of shots. When I’m between clubs I’ll choke down with the less lofted club and tend to hit the target distance. It does feel different than a “normal” swing but it’s also consistent. Great topic.
  12. Got the 699 v2 demos in. They look great and I can’t wait to hit them. Takomo is missing out on a number of customers with the absence of a demo program imo. They look immaculate online but in person testing is what can seal the deal for many.
  13. I did the same thing. Thinking about getting a Callaway Super 2 Hybrid to close the gap a little bit more.
  14. There are many here more well versed in this so please chime in... but my take on the OP is not just the flex but it is the shaft profile that is equally important. From earlier in the thread, it took the guys quite some time to dial in a handful of shafts that generally work for the concept. I have found with the right swing weight it helps you feel the club head more which leads me to be a bit more consistent at the top of the swing. I have personally found the shaft helps me be more consistent at the point of impact vs. my previous stock shaft... with a Ping G400 Max it was hard to think it could get more forgiving! If you hit up on the ball you will have no issue launching the ball in the air, much higher than ideal in my opinion (and experience). Another component to this process is getting the right ball to play... maybe a lower launching ball to help counteract the high flight. Last point regarding fitters/instructors... I took both my stock shaft and PLB to Trackman for a lesson. About midway through I switched to the PLB for a few swings to see how it compared. My instructor took a look at it and told me "you need to be very careful with that... that is a dangerous set up." He was hesitant to even let me swing it in the bay. Of course, to his surprise, I hit a few really well and told him he needed to try it... actually insisted he try it. He smacked 3 baby draws right down the middle and was left a bit speechless to be honest. Most of the better players & instructors that I know get comfortable in a set up (club manufacturer, ball, shaft, etc etc) and are hesitant to stray away, even for fun. I would be shocked to hear a fitter/teacher push anyone into a non-typical set up like this.
