  1. I use Arccos. This is my second season with it. I was initially planning on only using it for one season with the free trial but it really changed the way I thought about playing various shots and holes. It also made me rethink my practice. There were rounds during which I thought my driver was trash only to look back to find out it was really just my short game. This kind of insight took me to the chipping green for practice when previously I would have just launched drives on the range. Overall I have been very happy with it.
  2. I built a putting green in the basement to practice last summer and was able to hit a range once a week. I was thrilled with just that amount of practice. Growing up I lived at the range. It’s incredible how access and cost get in the way of that. The thing I want to do a better job of this summer is chipping around the green and bunker play… unfortunately I haven’t found a nice practice facility for that yet. The one closest to my house is full of clover and hard pan bunkers with garbage drainage. It resembles nothing close to what’s actually on the course which is well maintained. 3. I have been gaming Pings my whole life. The only clubs that are not Ping are my putter (Scotty Teryllium Newport)and wedges (Cleveland cg15). With that being said, I’m due for new wedges and the s159s have caught my eye. My bag would be as follows: Driver G430 Max Wood G430 3 Hybrid G430 2 Irons i230 pw-4 (currently gaming) Wedges s159 s grind high bounce 50, 54, 58 Putter PLD Anser 2 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Looking forward to your review! I’ve been intrigued by training aides targeting efficient ground forces since I started using SuperSpeed. I’ve had a similar spin out issue and have been trying to solve it on my own without the use of a training aide. I have been considering checking out SuperSpeeds ground force pedals with their protocols for this very reason although the slight resistance and click sounds from the Power Board could be nice feedback. Hoping it brings some positive results! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Play! Best time of the year with March Madness and the Masters!
  6. I built a putting green with Camry within the last year. It’s been a game changer especially to work on putting during Wisconsin winters. Two issues I have with the build are the fact that the Camry surface is starting to pill with use and vacuuming, and I used a thin carpet pad between the plywood and Camry. When inserting the cups I ended up with a rounded edge on the cup which acts as a funnel. While this is a huge confidence booster when rolling 8 footers in the basement, it really sucks on the course where the funnel effect goes away [emoji1787]. It’s roughly 8x6. The fencing is to keep the dogs off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I’m hitting a nice and easy 8 iron. That should get me +/- 15 feet from my target as long as I hit the ball as expected. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Overall I’m happy with my gapping. My 4i is skewed because it is my go to for hitting stingers out of trees [emoji1787]. Generally I play my 4i from 190-200. My 3h is actually a 2h, just paired it incorrectly. That is typically a 205-220 club. I will be interested to see how this continues to change. I upgraded to new irons near the end of the season last year and I have been doing SuperSpeed training since Christmas. Hoping for better gapping and bigger numbers from the changes! 9. Once I was tall enough for men’s clubs I got my Dads hand-me-down Powerbilt TPS irons. He took the opportunity to get himself some Callaway Big Berthas… Once he realized I was better than him, I was fit for Ping i3s and gamed those until just last year when I upgraded to Ping i230s I certainly got my moneys worth out of the i3s and hope to do the same with these i230s. 10. I used Arccos for the first time last season and planned on using it only for one year. I was trying to identify some gapping issues and help guide my on course strategies and I ended up loving it! What I did not love was the cost, but black friday deals helped as well as getting codes from influencers which drove the cost down. I bought some new irons at the end of the season and have been doing superspeed swing training and decided to resubscribe so I can monitor the differences. I am very interested in the link pro but the price point as it is will keep me from purchasing it. I have gotten use to keeping my phone in my pocket while playing and cannot imagine the improved gps will really be worth the cost. Cool tech though! Can't wait to see what other enhancements they continue to make with their new partnerships.
  11. Date 10/20/2023 Course Name Edgewood Golf Course Gross Score 78 Course Handicap 7 Gross Strokes over/under par 6 Net Score to Par -1 Net Score 71 Net Birdies or better 5 Longest Drive 259 Beautiful Fall day! Gotta love taking a half day on a Friday to golf. Course was in great condition and I was striking the ball well. Need to soak up these kinds of rounds before snow fly's!
  12. I totally get that. This is what makes this game so awesome. So many schools of thought that are then applied differently 100x's over all to get a white ball in a round hole... I was struggling with my driver earlier this year taking a similar approach but found I was selecting targets and shot shapes that I had no business creating. I ditched that and simply went with the mentality to aim middle of the fairway and swing hard. Previously I would consistently shut the face down and end up with a long iron into the hole or in the trees. Today I only hit 4/14 fairways but averaged 245yds off the tee and had shots into the green on 9/10 that I "missed" averaging 140yds to the pin. I always aim middle of fairway on tee shots and middle of green on approaches. So for myself, the intentionality and targeting ramps up a bit for chipping and putting. This is in a way where this thread was born from as I realized I needed a place to gather some insights and different perspectives on handling green-side chipping. And you know what? Next month I will probably see lots of flaws in this current approach and shift my mindset in a different direction. Such is the game of golf...
  13. I certainly agree that golf is nowhere near 90% mental. I also agree that intent and target is part of the calculation. I feel the mental side of things come in after you have committed. The main thing that can make you mess up the shot is if you let the intrusive thoughts in as you are standing over the ball. As a single digit handicaper, I know I have a lot of shots in my bag to make things happen. When I do duff the ball or skull it, it is typically due to a mental lapse that takes me out of my commitment. If I hit the ball well and just miss my target, then that is typically a miscalculation or I don't have the skill to match my intent. In general, I don't feel the mental game has a huge impact off the tee or on the approach unless you are someone who struggles with swing thoughts. Just grip it and rip it, then it's onto the next shot wherever that may be. Chipping and putting have more of a mental aspect because you are trying to hit an increasingly smaller target which you are not looking at when addressing the ball. The "mental game" comes into play for me as a tool to clear my head and simply let my body do what I have trained it to do. I am not someone who thinks if I visualize the ball going into the cup then my brainpower will make it happen. It is all a fine balance that I have been trying to grow in and will continue to do so.
