  1. I've been tracking shots with a Garmin S70 watch that I got last year. I've been quite happy with the accuracy of the GPS and like some of the features like the "Plays Like' function that factors in wind and elevation. I also like the fact you can track shots for each club, although it can be annoying to have to select the club used, as sometimes I forget or fat-finger and pick the wrong club. I just purchased the CT10 club sensors in order to alleviate the need to select the club used and to make the tracking more seamless. I will be installing the sensors this week and can't wait to try them out on the course.
  2. For me it's the occasional questions from my wife . . . "what are you doing with your second set of clubs?" ; "Is that new package that arrived more golf gear". She's not overly critical and knows we have the funds to afford our vices, so I just keep looking and sometimes pull the trigger and purchase. If my wife really knew that I actually have 3 full sets of clubs and a few additional old pieces, there might be more frequent discussions and questions about my level of sanity and quips about possible dementia. Shhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell her what I just confessed here!
  3. Does anyone else have any good drill suggestions for hitting their irons easy, or with good smooth tempo? The Davis Love III drill sounds good, but that is with a driver.
  4. Very cool looking golf shoe, I hope you get hours of good playing time with them. Let us know how they perform.
  5. We are a large senior men's golf group (~125 members) looking to replace an older handicap system we've been using and subscribing too. Does anyone know of some good software or apps that are suitable to manage & administer round by round scores, handicap calculations, group rosters, etc. We play twice a week at multiple courses throughout the season. We are looking to mostly track golf scores and handicap data and a list of our members. Possibly scheduling as well, if it's easy enough to maintain.
  6. Tell us more about your experiences and thoughts on this Shot Tracer app.
  7. Welcome to the forum neighbour. I see you play Humber Valley. I occasionally play there as I'm in Etobicoke. Have you played it yet in 2024, now that the Toronto city courses have opened? Just wondering what shape it might be in with all this rain lately.
  8. Very nice bag and great color scheme with the yellow accents. Enjoy!
  9. I've been carrying a Cobra King SZ 7 wood in the bag for the past 4-5 years. I like the height and control it offers when I'm about 165 - 180 yards out.
  10. Anyone remember Daiwa? My first set of brand new clubs were Daiwa that I bought in my early 20's. I used hand-me-down clubs in my teens. The Daiwa set had composite shafts as graphite was just becoming known in the golf industry. I gamed these for 10-15 years before moving into Taylormade Rac LT.
  11. I purchased a Ping G430 Max late in the 2023 season and only had a chance to play about 5 rounds, but was very pleased with the consistency and accuracy compared to my previous drivers. I also noticed about a 10-15 yard increase in my drive yardage, of course that probably had a lot to do with keeping in the fairway more often. Can't wait to play the G430 max for the entire 2024 season.
  12. Thanks for the input. I like the clean color scheme on your watch face. Simple but classy design.
  13. I also love the fun features on the S70 like being able to customize your watch and create your own watch faces. These are some very nice designs and I really like the MyGolfSpy design you have here. I've been playing with some design ideas for my S70 and have created a couple of personal designs I'm trying to decide on keeping. Here are 2 I'm trying to decide between. Let me know what people think. Are these too much? Is simpler and cleaner better?
  14. I used to use a range finder along with free versions of golf apps like "The Grint". The app gave me decent layouts of the holes and the range finder dialed in my distances quite well. However, I found that having to use 2 pieces of equipment, both my cell phone and a range finder, was a little much and slowed down the game a little. So a few years ago I switched to using a Golf GPS Watch. I used the Garmin Approach S40 for a few years and that seemed to do the trick. It provided fairly accurate yardages and allow many other cool features like shot stats for driving, tracking club distances if you wanted to set up your clubs and selected them on each shot. The biggest benefit was having all the tech on my wrist and not having to take out my cell phone and range finder on each shot. I love the convenience of a gps golf watch, and for me, a mid-handicapper, the accuracy is more than enough for my game. I'm a bit of a tech geek and equipment hoar, so I recently bought the newer Garmin watch, the S70 for my birthday. I can't wait to take this out on the courses which are now starting to open here in Canada. The number of features and clarity on this watch seems unbelievable. The only downside for probably many folks would be the cost. There are many other lower cost options when it comes to GPS Golf watches for those wanting to try this option. I really love the convenience and accuracy the new golf watches provide.
  15. Very cool you got to work and play at The Pulpit/Paintbrush. I was actually offered a position there as well for this season, along with offers at Lambton and Oakdale. I selected TGC for it's proximity and they seemed to offer the best and most flexible playing privileges. Pulpit was my 2nd choice but decided the 45 minute drive 3 times a week was a bit much this year given other responsibilities and activities I have on the go. Perhaps I will loop back with the Pulpit next year as I'd love to play their courses. Where do you normally play much of your golf?
