Played on Sunday and it was a mixed bag for me. Warm-up on the range before and everything was going great. I was hitting beautiful shots and was feeling really good about the day. Get to the first tee box and hit a great drive. Finished hole #1 with a nice little par putt and was feeling confident. After the first hole, I had some holes were I was playing great and others were I felt very off. My biggest issue yesterday was poor chipping which cost me quite a few strokes. However, I was playing golf so it was a great day no matter what!

Played over the holiday weekend at Turtle Creek in Limerick, PA. As expected it was quite busy, but we kept an ok pace of play through the front 9. My driver was spot on, like I'd never seen a slice in my life (but trust me, I've seen oh so many). As we roll through to 10, we notice the guys in front of us have just pulled out of the 9.5 so we figure we've got a short wait but no biggie. As we pull up, we see that the group in front of them has barely made it off the tees and the group in front of that group is still on the green.
Now we know we are headed for a 5 hour round and just like magic the beer cart comes around while we are waiting and one of my buddies buys a round. I make the mistake of choosing a 16oz 8% ABV beer and then choosing that same beer again and again on 13 and 15 when the beer cart circles by again. Needless to say, while I started the round well, I shot a 12 on hole 16 (some water and I became fast friends) and a 10 on 18 to pretty much ruin my scorecard for the day. But the weather was great and I got to play golf, so not too bad.

I played yesterday at a nice course for the first time (Ojai Valley Inn). Got off to a nice start, at -2 through 6. I hit a really nifty low spinner chip shot on 8 (new SM10's are awesome). Then I messed up. 9 was a long par 5, with a lot of tough bunkers around the green. I had 260 in, and decided that it was smarter to lay-up with a 5-iron than to risk getting into a tough bunker with a 3-wood. On the lay-up shot, I opened the face and the ball curved way off right, hit a cart path, and bounced into the right wood-chips. I hit a provisional, couldn't find my first ball, and ended up with a double bogey 7. I regrouped and managed to birdie 11, the toughest hole on the course. I got to the 16th tee on track to shoot a 71. One of the people I was playing with said that "This is a great par 3, but that right cart path cuts in a little close". I hit a 5-iron, opened the face too much, the ball curved right, hit the cart path, and bounced over a fence O.B. I teed up again, this ball plugged into a bunker, and I managed a triple bogey 6 (I think it was my first triple this year). I then bogied 17, parred 18, and walked off the course with a 75. Terrible round considering how I started off playing well, but I guess that's golf.

Spent my time at the range yesterday and it went well. I went twice, once at lunch and then once in the evening. At lunch I worked on my short irons the whole time and was really trying to work on accuracy and trying to put any kind of backspin on my shots( I wasn't able to hahaha). In the evening I worked through my bag from wedges all the way to driver at the end. Great day of practice!

Havocguns reacted to Braehead in LAB DF3 - the honeymoon is over
It really pains me to post this but with 22 rounds under my belt with the LAB DF3, I can definitely say that my putting has deteriorated since I made the switch.  It got off to a great start but my strokes gained putting has deteriorated quite considerably.  With the 42 rounds I have logged in Tangent my SGP relative to a scratch player is +0.3.  For the last 10 it is -0.5 and for the last 20 it is +0.2.  So the trend is worsening and the recent poor rounds are dragging down the total.

For those who read my original review when I ordered the club you'll remember that the performance differential with my Toulon Atlanta was quite close but I was more confident with short putts with the LAB.   That is still the case but the biggest issue I have with the club is pace control.  I just can't get the hang of it.  Touch and finesse is where I'm struggling.
I've definitely found the club to be hotter off the face than my Toulon and that has undoubtedly caused some issues with pace and line.  I've gone from dying the ball in the hole to consistently missing long and right, probably not adjusting the borrow for the extra pace off the face.  I do think you need to alter how you putt naturally to get the most out of this club and that can feel awkward at times.

I'm not prepared to give up on the club just yet, especially as I paid £575 for it, but I'm very tempted to go back to my Toulon and give this one some time out of the bag.  But it might never get back in.  I'll make some time to get to the practice green this week and do some more drills up against my Toulon.  Right now though, the early confidence has had a considerable setback.
