josh.Scott got a reaction from Old New Golfer in Titleist Iron comparison/review 710mb v t100
I have had two iron sets thus far, both being titleist irons, the 710MB and then the 2021 edition t100. Both irons are amazing and I would happily play both any day of the week. Both iron shafts are identical and the sets are the same length and swing weight is the same.

looks- the top line looks almost identical for both the t100 and the 710mbs, however the blade length is significantly shorter on the mbs which to me is more appealing to look at, as the aim small miss small saying I find can hold true, even with ball striking. The toe section on the MB is higher and I love the face profile as it is a more triangular shape than the t100 which almost has a more rounded profile. When looking down at the t100 especially with longer irons I can see the back of the iron which in my head makes it seem like a driving iron of sorts and encourages me to hit a straighter shot whereas with the 710mb I tend to shape the ball a lot more.

Performance and feel- it goes without saying, the t100 is a incredibly forgiving iron in comparison to the 710MB, when hitting on track man, a 3 mm change in strike resulted in around 7 yards of carry difference with the 710mbs, and I would have a significantly larger standard deviation between distances, the largest difference was the dispersion being vertical distance rather than horizontal. With the t100 my dispersion is a lot tighter, with almost every shot hitting the same total distance, slight change in carry depending on the strike.

The shot shaping is a lot different as well, with the 710 MB I had a tendency to draw the ball but the blades tend to have a mist straighter ball flight, as a result my iron play has improved significantly.

However, the feel when you hit it with the blades is like no other, there is a much more consistent feel across the face with the t100 but also there is not as good feedback as to when I hit it centre. I had to get a feel for it and develop that feel but with the blades the feedback was immediate. The sound of the blades is much more of a thud while it sounds more tinny off the face of the t100.

The blade face feels much softer than the t100, however, the soft feeling quckly decreases the further from the sweet spot and the feedback is much harsher.(not a bad thing), I found heel shots however felt better than toed misses with the 710mb.
The t100 had an opposite feel, toed shots were much better feeling and the feeling when hit from the centre was felt even when I didn’t hit it centre. The feedback to me was done through sound and less feel. Only large misses would have a different feel while with the slight misses, the feedback was sound based. A deeper sound when hit central.

    Turf interaction and sole-
All praise goes to the t100 for its sole and turf interaction, for a more forgiving iron, the thinner sole means that the turf interaction is incredible, I feel like I can hit many different shots with minimal digging, which was an issue I saw with the 710mbs. Fat shots would be greater exaggerated with the 710s and out the rough the club would get caught and dig a lot more.

    Numbers-
The t100s blow the blades out the water in all categories but spin, my dispersion was tighter, with 7 yards farther carry on average, and the noticeable distance was better gapping especially with longer irons, this both being due to faster ball speeds and more forgiveness and consistency with the t100. The blades would spin more and both would launch in similar windows but I would be reaching 3-6mph on average faster ball speeds with the t100.

While numerically the t100 simply are the better iron, the feel of the 710mbs are unmatched, I feel any blade just simply looks amazing but I play my better golf when using the t100 and they look very similar when looking down. If anyone has any suggestions as to an iron which fits inbetween the two please let me know!

I found that getting fit for iron shafts gave me a surprisingly better feeling with my irons, and while the numbers didn't change all that much I just found a feel I preferred, When it comes to driver, Getting fit I found improved both the numbers and the feel.
But at the end of the day it is all about what worth you place on it and how much value you place on it, worst case scenario, you get fit and find something which you love, and you can buy it secondhand or something similar for cheaper!

I carry a 16.5 turned down .75 and love it!  Get the elevation and distance.

Some good advice by the guys suggesting a 4 wood or 16.5 degree FW.   I had been playing a TSR2 3 wood (15 degree) and I liked it.   Hit is well off of the tee, not bad off of the fairway so sometimes would go 5 wood if shooting from the fairway.  My son had a Ping G430MAX 3 wood that he was absolutely lacing from anywhere.   I tried it and found it very nice and easier from the fairway than the TSR.
I picked one up and after only a few rounds have become a fan of it from the tee or fairway if I need a long carry.   Ball flight noticeably higher and if need be you can adjust the adaptor to get more or less loft or flatten the lie angle.   I was not fit, just tried it on a weekend and moved in that direction.   I think an adjustable adaptor is a must have on a FW Wood or Hybrid.

I recently picked up TaylorMade Stealth 2 plus 3 wood and I really like how versatile it is for me, the adjustability is cool. I have it paired up with a Ventus blue Velocore 7X shaft and it’s been working well for me. I have actually used the adjustability on it to change my ball flights and spin to adjust to the conditions and it’s been great for me so far. They’re also pretty cheap, you can find them at stores as “demos” for $204, I got mine from Dicks Sporting Goods and I was lucky to find it as a “demo” with the plastic wrapper still on it. I already had the ventus velocore on a previous TaylorMade 3 wood. I hope this helps!

Sim 2 3 wood may have been one of the best made in my opinion. I had the HL (16.5) version and recently old it for an Ai Smoke 16.5 4w which pairs well with my G430 7 wood. Wish I would have kept the TM though in all honesty. I preferred the larger cc head on it, but just gotta get used to the new one at this point.

    Have you tried a 16.5° 4-wood?
Many players have found that they get more carry with one of those instead.
The wooden 3-woods, after all, had 17° loft.
The modern ones usually have just 15° loft which isn't a lot.
They're also referring to 13.5°  2-woods as "strong" 3-woods now.
Many manufacturers are hesitant to use even numbers on woods
because contemporary players don't remember when they were common.

Stock wedge shaft in Vokey wedges is your basic Dynamic Gold S300 (sometimes S200) - if you like Dynamic Gold then happy days. It's possible to get them custom ordered with just about anything you want depending on what your iron set up is, but ultimately it's down to personal preferrence.

We had a Live Q&A with Vokey earlier and they talked about this.
For wedges you use full shots you can use the same shafts you use in your irons. For others you can go either way depending on your feel or requirements.
Personally I went 10 grams heavier than my iron shafts, but I'm also in graphite do 95 grams with the MMT and love them.
Depending on if you want to feel some sort of load you can go with a lighter or if you want a stiffer more solid profile then you can go with a heavier or firmer or even the same all the way through.

There’s a few places in the Denver area who fit for ACCRA that I just found. I may have to check them out.

ACCRA shafts are generally only offered through professional clubfitters, but Golfworks has some of the first generation TZ5 and TX6 shafts, which were manufactured from 2019-2023, and they are priced VERY reasonably.
The TZ models are an updated version of the ACCRA Tour Z shafts that have been a very popular lineup from ACCRA since the early to mid 2010s. Many tour players, including Tony Finau, Gary Woodland, Matt Kuchar and Padraig Harrington have been using Tour Z (and more recently TZ) shaft models in their drivers, fairway woods and hybrids for close to 15 years.  I actually did ACCRA shaft installations for all of these golfers, plus Mark Brooks and Vijay Singh when I worked for ACCRA, Graphite Design, and KBS on tour.

I also have a very aggressive swing, particularly with driver and fairway woods, and two of the shafts that I have found to work well for such aggressive swings are the HZRDUS Black Gen 4 and ACCRA TZ5 models.

Welcome to the forum, @josh.Scott! I currently play the Ventus Blue TR in 6X, coming from a Diamana Kai'Li White 60s. The Blue TR is more stable but still can feel a kick. I have a deliberate tempo in my backswing but get more aggressive at the top of my swing and it feels great. I've noticed better dispersion and a mid-low launch window, and my spin has been more controlled. My strike consistency also has improved significantly.
I have played the Tensei AV White in the past and also really liked that shaft. 1K Pro White is one I haven't tried but would like to.
Ventus TR Blue is a great feeling, super stable shaft. If you're aggressive and have a higher swing speed, I'd hit OG Ventus Black or the new Black+, or TR Blue if Black feels too stout. It's hard when you can't swing them, but resale on Ventus shafts is pretty solid if you went that route and ended up needing to go a different way.

I’ve tried the Tensi 1K black and blue and like them both, ventus velocore and like it. Newton are nice too. I am also a bit aggressive so I went with steadfast.

I am currently playing the tensei orange in an x stiff and struggle with the counterbalance as I feel like I cannot swing it fast, I am quite aggressive with my tempo and loved the HZRDUS BLACK, has anyone got any reviews or insights on the Diamana W-series, the Accra TZ5, the Tensei 1K pro white or the Ventus bue? I tend to spin on the higher end and Struggle to find places to get fit.
