I heard there is new model coming out at the beginning of next year. Most places are discounting the G430 hybrid right now.
I recently just picked one up and it does seem to be pretty forgiving and has a pretty hot face. I haven't used it enough to find out if it'll stay in the bag long term but it's definitely better than the old Ping Anser hybrid that I had.

I have recently played a few rounds with the Maxfli Tour X balls and have only tried the Legato balls on a few holes. The Legato balls definitely feel softer than the Maxfli and surprisingly feels like it spins less with the driver. Distance wise off the tee they seem relatively close. I will have to spend more time with Legato balls to see how they fare during a full round but if you like the softer feel they are definitely softer than the Maxfli Tour X balls.

I'm very curious about this this ball as well. Hopefully I will get my hands on some to try out soon

Thanks for sharing. I applied from the Dryve program for my son. Glad that companies are doing this to help junior golfers!

I've got a son (10) and a daughter (8). We've got family that live on a small executive course in a retirement community and we'd visit them for Thanksgiving, so the kids' first exposure was probably at the ages of 3/4 just going out and putting on the green behind our relative's house. A couple of years later we enrolled my son in a few First Tee lessons. While he liked it, he wasn't asking to go play.
In the last couple of years, they've taken to TopGolf between us visiting a few times and some of their friends having their birthday parties there.  That lead to my son having his birthday party there this year.  Then this summer they both spent a week at a TopGolf camp for a week that they loved.  On top of that the range near our house installed a TopTracer range a year or so ago and being able to hang out in the shade and play games was something that stuck with them where they'd ask to go to the range.
I'm still working on the final step of getting them into actual golf and may have finally found the motivation.  My parents decided to take up golf in the last few years in hopes of playing with me and their grandkids.  They're visiting for about a month this winter and plan to play golf with us while here.  Once they started talking trash about beating the grandkids, that was it.  My son asked me to take him out on the course to practice so he can "beat Grammy" and tonight asked if we could go play again this weekend and is encouraging his sister to join us.
So like TT78 said, no reason to rush, you never know what will strike their fancy. They may not be crazy about it at first and eventually come around.

I have 2 boys who are currently 12 and 8. From the time my oldest was first born I had bought him plastic clubs he could hold and play with but he would have been just as happy if it was a wooden branch. Around 4 years old I started occasionally taking him to the range to hit balls and he seemed to have fun but also around that time is when he started team sports such as soccer/basketball/tee ball. After he started team sports he lost interest in golf and primarily wanted to play team sports which took up most of our free time.
As he got older I would still buy him longer clubs that we would use very rarely at the range but he still did not have the interest to go play golf if he had time. I had always hoped that one of my kids would play golf so that I could have an excuse with the wife to out at the golf course but that dream seemed quickly fade away until recently. Fast forward to about 4 months ago when spring sports started for his school. He had previously played volleyball during this season but this year he decided he didn't want to play volleyball. One of the other spring sports was golf so I told him to go sign up for it. He resisted signing up for golf, I have no idea why, but I finally told him it was not his decision and that he had to it since he wasn't playing any other sports for school at that time.
Once he signed up, I borrowed some clubs for him to use since he outgrew all the old sets I had bought and I didn't want to invest in a set of clubs he was going to not use after 2 months. His school team didn't really have any practice so one day I took him myself to the range and a local par 3 course where something magical happened. Some how he caught the golf bug and was hooked! He started walking around the house with a club in hand either working on his swing or his chipping. After summer break started for school, he is always asking us to drop him off at the local par 3 course or range for a few hours which we happily do because it's much better than him playing video games all day. On top of that we found out that USGA has a program called Youth On Course where after you pay a $70 yearly fee, he can play most of the public golf courses around us for $5 or less and he also gets a bucket of range ball per day for $2. Given how expensive everything is today this has to be one of the better deals out there. My younger one now has an interest in golf as well since his older brother is playing
So my word of advice for parents that have kids that don't seem too interested in the beginning, don't lose hope. It only took 12 years for my dream to have my kids love golf as much as I do come true.

I recently just ran out of a old batch of Snell MTB balls so I decided to try out some new balls. The first thing I'm trying is the Vice Pro Plus and in my first outing with them where I played a Par 3 exec course I found that the ball had a lot of spin. The flight was good but when they landed I was spinning the ball back like 7-10 yards. I need to test it out more on a full length course to see how it reacts to longer clubs.
Also noticed that I was kind of shredding the cover with my wedges which I didn't see with other balls I have hit recently which are Snells, Pro V1X and TP5X. Will see if it continues to be a problem

I'm a long time reader but first time poster. I have been playing golf now for over 35 years and have always been an avid student of the game. I have always thoroughly enjoyed exploring and testing new swing mechanics/thoughts as well as tinkering with my equipment over the years.
I stepped away from the game for a bit when my kids were born because my weekends consisted of taking the kids to parks and zoos in the beginning which eventually evolved to taking the kids some sports related field/court (e.g. baseball fields, lacrosse fields, basketball courts, etc.). The travel to kid's sporting events still continue today but after 12 years my son has finally caught the golf bug and is now obsessed with the game which has allowed me to get back to the game I have missed so much.
My golfing goals now, in addition to obviously trying to improve my own game, is to help my son turn his infatuation for golf into a life long passion by passing along everything I have learned in my golf journey. Looking forward getting back into the weeds!
