I've always liked "old fashioned" swings such as Sam Snead, Mickey Wright, Payne Stewart, Tommy Bolt, etc. I really like to see that lead heel come off the ground in the backswing. If you cross the line at the top, that's fine, too. Of current players, I like Scottie Scheffler. Not a move anyone would teach, but a great teacher wouldn't change a thing. The only issue I have with Scottie's swing is the worry that his left ankle is taking a ton of stress and may fail through injury sooner than later.

I almost always curve the ball to the left. The only time I try to fade it is when that is the only possible shot because of a tree blocking my line to the green and going right of the tree isn't possible. Having said that, not practicing that fade is a weakness of my game. I rarely pull off the big fade without over cooking it.

His public personality seems much like Nicklaus' in his playing days. I like it. Palmer's fans couldn't stand him, which leads me to an observation. Some people like to watch players with, shall we say, enthusiastic personalities. Those people generally don't like the quiet ones. To the original question, Sergio Garcia is my least favorite by a mile. When he was young, I gave him a pass thinking he would mature. He didn't. I don't follow LIV and am very glad Garcia is playing there.

I've never played the left dash, but it appears to be designed as a low spin, high compression ball. An inexpensive distance ball such as the Bridgestone e9 might give you what you want.

We all have our views on fashion. For instance, I can’t for the life of me get used to the miniature suits that are popular for men now. I’m sure many of the younger Spies think they are great. I’m not a fan of joggers with dress style golf shoes. When worn with sneaker style golf shoes I’m ok with them. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is fashion is just that—what’s popular today will look ridiculous tomorrow. As far as Augusta National goes, it’s their tournament, they get to set the rules. I’m old fashioned enough that I would love to see a successful pro play without endorsements and no logos.

I agree. He most reminds me of Nicklaus, but that is now. In 3 years he may still be great or he may have fallen off the planet. It’s just hard to predict. Unlike someone posted above, I enjoy watching him play. I don’t need fist pumps to find excellence fascinating.

I talked to a TM customer service rep. He didn’t know if adding weight to the rear would increase the COR beyond 10 K, but he doubted it would. He also didn’t know why the 2 weight screws are a different size. Apparently, a mystery that will remain unsolved.

I just came across something on a different site that may explain the rear weight of the Max using a non-standard screw size. Supposedly, adding more weight at the rear will cause the C.O.R to exceed the legal limit of 10k. Does anyone know if this is true?

I had a Rapsodo MLM2 for a couple of weeks. Other than the range, the only place I have to use it is in the yard into a net. I don’t have a basement and I use my garage for the cars. Into the net, I was getting bad numbers, especially with driver. I have a 7 foot tall net and could not get enough distance between the ball and the net without hitting over the net. After some research, including joining Rapsodo and Garmin user groups on Facebook, I determined that no radar based system would work in my environment. I would need to get an optical based system and I’m not willing to spend that much. Also, a lot of people in the Facebook groups were having a lot of issues with both the Rapsodo and the Garmin.

Boy, the 4th hole is a monster today. A little while ago, one of the announcers referred to the 4th hole as "the driveable par 3 4th"

I got to the local Edwin Watts this morning and compared the Qi 10 Max to my gamer Ping G430 Max. I’m posting the results in my review post but bottom line is the TaylorMade is slightly better. That was with the regular flex shaft that came with the TaylorMade. After getting the numbers, I swapped out the regular flex for a senior shaft and saw a jump in distance with the TM. I left with the senior shaft in the TM. My plan is to make my next golf purchase an “Otto Phlex” shaft for the TM. The Ping already has that type of shaft in the form of the Distanza 40 that Ping offered for a few years.

I don’t use a glove in cool weather. In hot weather, my hands sweat so much that I cycle between 4 gloves every round. I’ve never noticed any difference between control with no glove in cool, dry weather and wearing a glove in hot weather.

How old are your gamer wedges? I'm wondering if worn grooves may be contributing to the worse dispersion with those. Of course, the dispersion results with the Pings are so good that I wouldn't really care why.

I played 18 this morning. The Qi 10 Max may have just knocked my gamer out of the bag. I'm going to get in one last launch monitor session this coming week to confirm.

I haven't played a TM driver since the Sim 2 Max, but the forgiveness is definitely greater with the Qi 10 Max. I would say distance on center strikes is similar but distance on off center strikes is amazing with the new model.

I played 18 this morning. I played the TaylorMade on the front 9 and my gamer on the back 9. Very little difference between the two other than sound and feel. I finally got my swing in a good place and ended up with a couple of really long drives (for me) with the TaylorMade. One was a 224 yard strike into the wind. The other was 248 down wind and down hill. Very impressive at my swing speeds. Oh, and the 224 into the wind was a toe hit. Bottom line is this driver is as long as anything and very forgiving.

I played 18 this morning. I had a good front nine with the driver never putting me in trouble. Don't ask about the back nine....I was trying something different with my swing which resulted in better iron shots and worse driver shots. On good swings, I am not getting the distance I expect. I'm consistently 10 yards short of my normal spots. I am going to play Tuesday and use my gamer driver to see if I can figure out if the problem is the TaylorMade or my rapidly declining swing speed.

Good for you! I have a health issue that keeps me from walking the course and I really miss it. Comfortable shoes and a light bag are essential. I wouldn't carry more than 4 extra balls in the bag. If your course returns to the club house at the turn, you can always grab some more balls out of your car if you need them. When you get to a green, set your bag down where you will exit the green on the way to the next tee. Never stand your bag on the green. It probably wouldn't do any harm but just to be safe. Enjoy!

The group I play with tees off at 8am week days and 7:30 on Saturdays. In the summer, it is way too hot for this old man to play in the afternoon. Having said that, I have no doubt my old, stiff body would perform better in the afternoons.

I know mine. They are much shorter than yours.
