  1. If you're looking for a steeper land angle, try the Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal HL's. They are a weaker lofted version of the regular Hot Metals. I have always been a low ball hitter and they have me hitting high, steep landing shots that stop on a dime.
  2. I have a couple of wedges from the last iteration of Hogan. I really like them. If the new company offers the same design, I will probably order a couple. I was a forum tester for the new MacGregor irons that the same company is selling and was really impressed; so, I have hope the Hogan venture will result in good product.
  3. I only change a ball once it is damaged by road rash or a hard hit into a tree. However, now that I think of it, the damage on the ball might cause the ball to go at the target after I hit it offline.
  4. Terrible idea. I love music and have spent way too much on vinyl, CDs and streaming over the years. But, there is a lot of music that gets on my last nerve and what I like might be like fingernails on a chalkboard to someone else. For example, I hate most hip hop beats. If that was playing at the range I would find another course to join.
  5. Does anyone know what the banned substance was in the cough medicine?
  6. It sounds like you are describing a difference in swing weights. Try adding lead tape to one of the irons to see if that helps.
  7. I hurt my lower back decades ago. I have 3 vertebrae that show signs of deterioration. Until the last couple of months, the golf swing never bothered my back. It was only lifting objects that caused problems. Now, my back starts hurting after a few holes and gets really stiff. I have started core exercises and stretches for my back and hips. I am looking for any tips for a swing and/or set up that is easy on the back. Any ideas?
  8. The first generation of the Srixon Z Star that was offered in yellow was by far the easiest ball for me to see in the air. Unfortunately, they changed the color slightly in the next generation and it and succeeding generations aren't nearly as easy to see. That first generation had a finish that almost sparkled.
  9. I have been rotating between the Macs and Mizuno JPX 923 HLs. I like both, so , why not? Well, common sense would tell you that always playing with the same set of irons would result in becoming intimate with their strengths and weaknesses and thus lead to lower scores. However, I've never been accused of having much common sense.
  10. Whoa! Very nice. I wonder when they'll be available in the States.
  11. This advert is COMPLETED!

6 through gap with regular flex graphite shafts. The irons are one inch longer than standard. Grips are mint. I removed the paint fill from the logos on the backs so they now whisper PXG instead of shouting it. Very soft feeling blades that are surprisingly forgiving. Very good condition other than a big scratch on the sole of the 7 iron.

  12. Yeah, I'm aware of all that you said. I was just posting what I think would be ideal.
  13. I’ve never had what I would consider a true fitting. My idea of a good fitting for irons would include hitting at least 3 different lofts—for example PW, 8 iron and 6 iron—with a number of different shafts, shaft lengths and lie angles off grass using my gamer ball and a top end launch monitor. I don’t know of any place that does that. Maybe Ping’s facility at headquarters?
  14. I'm getting an extra 20 yards with the driver, which is great. I worry that we won't get enough rain before cold weather to have a good base of grass for the winter. I've never had so many hardpan lies in my life.
  15. This is a pic of my ball in the rough this morning.
  16. theironfactory.com They have a price list on the web site. I'm sure others will come along with other options.
  17. But Phil had those long pants dragging him down.
  18. I would have picked Bradley and Glover over J.T. and Burns. Glover is on fire and Bradley seems to ache to be on the team and has played well enough this year. Of course, I have no idea how they are in the locker room.
  19. Found this on the course yesterday. That’s a .22 shell casing.
  20. When I was in my thirties, I played basketball at the Y. One day I realized my toes were no longer leaving the floor on jump shots. It’s been downhill ever since.
  21. One bit of information you need is how much more accurate you are with a fairway wood vs driver. Even on tour, you see players missing the fairway with 3 woods. I would lean toward adding a 4 hybrid or 7 wood. Given the distances you hit the ball, you could score hitting the ball 235 off the tee if the driver is acting up.
